Guarantee of quality
All Archivart products are quality inspected at the time of manufacture, again in our internal R&D laboratory and finally by our professional
picking and shipping personnel, to ensure the high level of quality and the consistent performance that you expect from our products. We
fully guarantee all Archivart materials to meet the specifications outlined in this catalogue. Any defective product will be replaced. No other
warranty is expressed or implied. Liability is limited to replacement of product.
Testing
Archivart products are manufactured to meet established conservation standards applicable to the product’s end use. Testing to ensure
compliance with these standards is performed at the time of manufacture, in our R&D laboratory and at independent laboratories such as the
Image Permanence Institute.
Artcare™ Museum Products and the Zeolite Technology
Archivart now offers the entire range of Alpharag®Artcare™ Museum Board. Alpharag Artcare, featuring the patented MicroChamber®
technology, provides a preventative conservation mechanism unavailable in any other museum board, and unparalleled in preservation
performance.
The MicroChamber technology featured in Artcare products incorporates zeolites, a class of materials known for their ability to adsorb
specific gaseous materials. Proven to trap pollutant gases like nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide from air pollution, as well as formaldehyde,
acetic acid and oxidizing gases from indoor environments and artifact degradation, the technology gives Artcare boards the ability to actively
protect art and artifacts from both external contaminants and internal vices.
Library of Congress
In addition, Alpharag Artcare feature the highest level of quality
available. Alpharag Artcare Museum Board is made from 100%
virgin cotton linter pulp. Recognized as the purest form of cellulose
available for papermaking, the cotton linter pulp used to produce
Alpharag Artcare is exceedingly clean and consistent in fiber
length, yielding a finished board of exceptional purity and strength.
Each Alpharag Artcare board is hand-inspected for cleanliness
and integrity. Traditional 4 and 8 ply lamination, using a neutral
pH, archival, non-yellowing adhesive, provides the rigidity and
thickness needed to physically protect art and artifacts. Thinner
configurations of 1 and 2 ply are ideal for dustcovers, storage and
interleaving applications. Shades of white and colors are achieved
by using colorants such as white titanium dioxide, iron oxides and
other organic pigments, all of which are bleed, fade and yellowing
resistant. Color consistency is closely monitored by human eye and
by computer spectrophotometry.
Performance attributes of proprietary SPZ zeolite used in Artcare
products were recently evaluated by the Library of Congress.
Specified by conservators to house George Washington’s Last Will
and Testament, the original drawings of the Wright Brother’s famous
Kitty Hawk flyer, the herbarium collection from the Lewis & Clark
Expedition, and a series of John James Audubon’s Birds of America
elephant portfolio images, Alpharag Artcare is the best choice for
collections care professionals charged with protecting the world’s
cultural heritage.
The Artcare zeolite technology is also available in Alphamount
Artcare Conservation Board, Artcare Archival Corrugated and
Artcare Archival Foamboard.
