PART 1- GENERAL
1.1 SUMMARY
(A) This section specifies prefabricated overhead structures providing protection, such as walkway covers, wall-supported canopies, carports, or other systems as manufactured by Commercial Residential Aluminum & Fabricating, LLC.
(B) The prefabricated protective covers are shown on drawings and details, and assembled in accordance with Commercial Residential Aluminum & Fabricating, LLC instructions.
(C) Concrete for related slabs and footings is specified in Division 3 of specifications.
a. Footing Styrofoam block-out is provided by protective cover manufacturer and installed by others as part of the
concrete scope of work.

1.3 SUBMITTALS
(A) Provide shop drawings and product data as required to clearly illustrate material and installation details. All shop drawings shall bear the seal and signature of a Registered Professional Engineer.
(B) Submit color samples of material finishes for Architect’s selection.
(C) Product Data: Submit manufacturer’s published product data for metal items being incorporated into the work.
1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE
(A) Installer Qualifications: Shall be certified by the manufacturer and have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the successful installation of the specified materials and assemblies on similar projects.
(B) Manufacturer(s) Qualifications: Employ on manufacturers making the specified materials as a regular production item. Manufacturers shall have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in producing canopies of the similar size and complexity.
(C) AWA (American Welding Association) standards for structural aluminum welding.
1.5 ENGINEERING DATA
(A) Engineering is available through Commercial Residential Aluminum & Fabricating, LLC Engineered calculations to comply with Building Code for site location or per design criteria, and are based on current applicable building codes.

(B) Design shall be based upon standards and specifications by the Aluminum Association, Inc. and based on local building codes and design requirements.

2.2 MATERIALS
(A) Extruded Aluminum: 6063-T6 as called for by profile design.
(B) Deck: 3-inch high by 6-inch wide profile (nominal), extruded with (.060) minimum thickness.
(C) All fasteners and hardware shall be stainless steel or non-corrosive material.
(D) Sealants, flashing and other nonstructural items as determined by manufacturer.
2.3 FINISHES
(A) Aluminum Extrusions
a. Clear Anodized-Silver satin finish, available in Architectural Class 1, 215-R1 with 5 year warranty and Architectural Class II, 204-R1 with 1 year warranty.
b. Color Anodized-Available in Class 1, 215-R1 dark and medium bronze.
c. Baked Enamel-baked on polyester coating per ASTM B449 and ASTM B117m. Available in manufacturer’s standards of white or bronze.
d. Kynar Finish-Fluoropolymer with 70% PVDF resin with 20 year warranty. Fluoropolymer with 50% PVDF resin with 10 year warranty. Available per architect’s request in manufacturer’s full range of colors.
(B) Aluminum Sheeting:
a. Factory finished with chemical cleaning, conversion coating and baked-on polyester coating. Coating conforms to the ASTM B449 and ASTM B117 testing.
(C) Additional finishes not specified above should be cleared with manufacturer.
2.4 FABRICATION
(A) Roof Panels:
a. Extruded roof deck sections shall be comprised of interlocking and self-flashing sections. Self-flashing and interlocking joints shall be fastened rigidly with fastenings as shown on shop drawings. Use welded closures at ends of deck pans. Available in (.060) and (.080) thickness.
(B) Columns, Beams, Gutters and Fascia’s:
a. Extruded aluminum sections of size and shape as indicated on drawings.
b. Fabricate and ship heli-arc welded on piece rigid bents. When size of bents does not permit shipment, concealed mechanical; joints will be used.
c. Mechanically fastened joints are available for non-welded systems.
d. Provide cut outs and internal deflectors in members as indicated, to act as internal water drainage system.
2.5 WARRANTY
(A) One year on materials and workmanship unless specified otherwise.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 INSPECTION
(A) Canopy manufacturer shall examine surfaces and site conditions prior to the start of installation. Deviations from the approved shop drawings shall be brought to the attention of the Contractor at once.
(B) Contractor will field verify dimensions and elevations as shown on the architectural drawings prior to fabrication by the manufacturer.
3.2 INSTALLATION
(A) Column sleeves (Styrofoam block-outs) or anchor bolts (if required) shall be furnished by the protective cover manufacturer and installed by the General Contractor.
(B) Aluminum surfaces that are to come in contact with dissimilar materials shall be protected with one coat of asphaltic emulsion paint in addition to factory protection.
(C) Erection of the canopies shall be completed by an installer approved by the manufacture in accordance with approved shop drawings. Protective cover shall be erected true to line, level and plumb. A clear acrylic coating shall protect aluminum columns embedded in concrete.
(D) Protective cover shall be cleaned properly and thoroughly after completion of installation.

SHORT FORM SPECIFICATIONS: ALUMINUM RAILING | FENCING | GATES
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 DESCRIPTION
(A) Furnish and install industrial grade aluminum railing and fence materials as manufactured by Commercial Residential
Aluminum & Fabricating LLC and as indicated on the drawings and as specified.
(B) The work includes, but is not limited to the following:
a. Railing, fence, gates, and related hardware
1.2 QUALITY ASSURANCE TESTS
• AAMA-2603-salt spray resistance of 3000 hours
• Accelerated weathering for 500 hours under Method 6152 if Federal Test Method 141 shall show no adhesion loss,
with only slight fading and water staining.
• Outdoor weathering shall show no checking or crazing, with only slight fade when exposed for one year in
Florida facing south at a 45 degree angle.
• Minimum hardness of 2H using ASTM D3363.
• Average coating thickness of 3 mils.
1.3 SUBMITTALS
(A) Manufacturer’s product literature and certification.
(B) Shop drawing in sufficient details to show fabrication, anchorage, and interface of the work.
1.4 WARRANTY
(A) One year on materials and workmanship unless specified otherwise.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 MANUFACTURERS

2.2 MATERIALS
(A) Aluminum Extrusions: All components shall be extruded from 6063-T6 in accordance with ASTM b221.
(B) Fasteners: All fasteners shall be stainless steel with a zinc dichromate coating for enhanced corrosion resistance. Phillips head screws shall be used to attach the pickets to the rails while self-drilling, self-tapping hex head screws shall be used to connect the rails to the posts. All screws shall be painted to match the finish of the fence.
(C) Accessories: All castings used for post caps, finials, scrolls, rings, floor and wall attachments shall be made from zinc or aluminum. Hinges and latches shall be fabricated from aluminum extrusion. Only stainless steel fasteners may be used with the accessories. All accessories will be painted to match the finish of the system.
2.3 FINISH
(A) Pretreatment: Before the finish is applied, a five stage pretreatment must be applied to assure maximum adhesion and corrosion resistance.
a. Stage 1: High alkaline cleaner to prepare the surface.
b. Stage 2: Water rinse
c. Stage 3: Combination of chromic, phosphorus, and hydrofluoric acids that produce the chrome-phosphate has conversion coating for maximum adhesion and corrosion.
d. Stage 4: Water rinse
e. Stage 5: Water rinse
(B) Coating: The fence system shall have an electro statically applied TGIC polyester powder coated finish that meets or exceeds industry standard tests.
(C) Color: The color to be selected by the architect from manufacturer’s standard color selections.

2.4 CONSTRUCTION
(A) Horizontal Rails: rails shall be 1 5/8” square “U” channels. Pickets shall pass through holes punched in the top rail. The
rails shall have a top wall thickness of .075” and a side wall thickness of .100”. The number of rails shall vary according to
manufacturer’s specifications
(B) Pickets: Pickets shall be fastened to the rails using zinc-coated stainless steel screws painted to match the color of the
system. Screws shall be used on only one side of the rail, leaving the other side with a clean appearance. Pickets shall be 1”
square with a .065” wall thickness.
(C) Posts: Posts shall be 2 ½” square with a .075” wall thickness. Gate post shall be either 4” square with a .125” wall thickness
or a 6” square with a .188” wall thickness. A gate requires a gate post on both sides. A cast aluminum cap is to be sued on all
posts.
(D) Gates: Swing gates shall be fabricated to manufacturer’s standard methods. Standard hardware should be used.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 SURFACE CONDITIONS
(A) Examine the areas and conditions under which work of the section will be performed. Correct conditions detrimental to
timely and proper completion of work. Do not proceed until unsatisfactory conditions are corrected.
3.2 INSTALLATION
(A) Follow manufacturer’s instructions for the installation of all gates, railing, and fencing. All material must be checked upon
receipt at the job site prior to installation for any damage that may have occurred during transport. The aluminum system
must be stored in a safe and dry environment to protect it from any potential damage. The system will be installed with
manufacturer’s standard procedures.
3.3 EXCAVATING
(A) Drill holes for post footings in firm, undisturbed, or compacted soil, strictly adhering to the dimensions
and spacing shown.
3.4 SETTING POSTS
(A) Remove loose and foreign materials from sides and bottoms of holes prior to pouring concrete. Enter and align posts
in holes. Insert notched stringers into pre-punched post and fasten with tech screws. Place concrete around posts in a
continuous pour and vibrate or tamp for consolidation.
(B) Check each post for vertical and top alignments. Hold in position during placement and finishing operation. Make any
corrections before concrete hardens.
3.5 INSTALLING GATES
(A) Install gates, plum, level and secure for full opening without interference. Install ground-set items in concrete for
anchorage in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations as approved by the architect. Adjust hardware for smooth
operation.
3.6 CLEANING
(A) Contractor shall clean jobsite of excess material: post hole excavations shall be scattered uniformly away from post.
Mortar should be removed from exposed posts and other fencing material using a 10% solution of muriatic acid followed
immediately by several clean water rinses. Clean aluminum fence with a mild household detergent and clean water rinse.
