Questions? Comments? Typos? Please email Tech Administrator: Steven Zhou at [email protected] 1 1. First Steps
When you first install the software onto your home computer, there are steps you must take to ensure that you
are up to date with the settings and song lists on other computers.
CFC Official EasiSlides Starters Set Includes: “Easislides Setup”, “Easislides Full Export 02 03 2012”,
“Standard.est”, “Announcements.est”, “Welcome CFC.esi”, “Welcome Slide.esi”, “Thank You Slide.esi”,
“Other Slide 1.esi”, “Other Slide 2.esi”, “Other Slide 3.esi”, and 4 Backgrounds.
A. Installing the Software
1. Double click and run “Easislides Setup” file
2. Continue through the Setup Wizard
B. Initial Setup
The home screen should look like this:
1. Toolbar. These buttons will be commonly used: New (see “5-A Adding New Songs”), Edit (see “4-D
Editing Songs”), and Delete.
2. Library – this is your database of songs. The drop down menu at the top has several folders
(“English”, “Mandarin”, etc.). These folders come prefilled with songs (which we will replace later)
2 3. Tabs – these tabs change what you’re viewing in the Library. “Folders” are your songs, “InfoScr” are
informational screens for displaying single slides of text, “Bibles” are for Bible verses (we will rarely
use this), “Images” are for background images for slides, and “Default” should not be touched.
4. Service Panel – this section displays the worship service that you are currently creating. You will
edit order of the songs, backgrounds, and send the set to LIVE from here.
5. Edit Screen – this panel allows you to edit and preview your songs.
6. LIVE Screen – this panel displays what you are projecting and allows you to control them.
C. Importing Database of Songs
First, delete all the current songs in the Library. To do so, click on one song, use “Ctrl-A” to select all the
songs in the folder, and click the Delete button (a large X in the toolbar, right above the Library panel).
1. From the Home Screen, go to Tools à Import
2. In "A - Import File", click the folder icon, and select the file
“Easislides Full Export _insert date_”.
3. In "B - Import File Folders", tick the "English" box
4. In "C - Select Folder...", select English
5. In "D - If Title exists...", choose "IMPORT and REPLACE"
6. Click Import, then Close the window.
NOTE: The songs may not be available immediately after importing. To fix that, on the home screen, in the top
left (where you select songs from the Library), choose the drop down menu (currently, English should be
selected), and select any one of the other 4 folders. Then click there again and return to the English folder. The
new imported songs should now be viewable.
D. Importing InfoSlides, Settings, and Other Templates
INFO SCREENS:
These screens are used to display a single slide of text, or images. On the InfoScr tab of the
Library panel, click the “Import an InfoScreen Into Folder” button.
Find the InfoScreens included in the setup package: “Welcome CFC.esi”, “Welcome
Slide.esi”, “Thank You Slide.esi”, “Other Slide 1.esi”, “Other Slide 2.esi”, and “Other Slide
3.esi”. Open these (you may have to do them one by one). The InfoScreens should now be
available in the Library.
STANDARD SETTINGS:
The CFC Standard for formatting songs is preset in a file called “Standard.est”, which is included when you first
receive the materials for setting up the program. Please copy this file into the “Computer à C: à EasiSlides à
Admin à Templates à SettingsTemplates” folder. Do the same with the “Announcements.est” file.
BACKGROUND IMAGES:
Make sure you also add the 4 Backgrounds provided in the Starters Set to the Images (see Section 4-A)
3 2. Creating a Set
This sections covers the steps you need to take in order to create a new worship set for a service, including songs,
welcome screens, announcements, etc. This is to be done at home on your home computer.
A. Creating a Worship Service
1. In the Service Panel, click the “Manage Worship
Lists” button.
2. In the popup window, click “Add New”, and name
the Worship Service with “Service _insert date_”. Click
OK and then Close the popup.
3. In the drop down menu right above the Service Panel, choose the service you just created.
B. Adding Songs
1. From the Library panel (make sure the “Folders” tab is
selected), find the songs you want.
2. Click on the song, then click the red “Add to Worship List”
arrow. Do this with all the songs in the set.
3. Use the two hand icons “Move Item Up” and “Move Item
Down”, in the Service Panel, to change the order of the songs.
Use the X button from the Service Panel to remove songs.
4 C. Adding Background Photos
1. Go to the Images tab of the Library panel. Select a song from the
Worship Set, then select an image. The image will automatically
become the background image for the song. Do this for the rest of
the songs in the set.
There are other folders in the Images tab; however, the ones you
need should be in “Scenery”
See “4-A Adding Background Stills” for information on adding your
own backgrounds.
D. Adding InfoScreen
1. Go to the InfoScr tab of the Library panel. Select an InfoScreen and use the red “Add to Worship List”
arrow to add it to the Worship Service. Change order / delete the same way as in “2-B Adding Songs”.
2. In a standard worship service, use only the “Welcome” and “Thank You” InfoScreens. Both are blank
infoscreens, with a preset background image that says “Welcome” and “Thank You” (these
backgrounds are included – see “4-A Adding Background Stills” for more info).
E. Adding Announcements
1. In the Folders tab of the Library
panel (where the songs usually are),
find the “song” titled
“Announcements”. Select this and
import into your Worship Service.
2. Follow the procedures for Editing
Songs (see “4-D Editing Songs”).
3. Type your announcements as the
Lyrics of the song. Make sure to
break whenever necessary to fit the
screen size. See “4-D Editing Songs”.
5 4. Save and exit. Make sure the “song” is using the “Announcements.est” setting for formatting (see “4-B
Standard Format”).
F. Exporting Worship Services
1. When your service is finished, click the “Manage Worship Lists” button again. Select your service,
and click “Save As”.
2. Save the file as “Service _insert date_.esw”.
3. Send this file to the worship leader and put a copy on your flash drive to bring to church.
6 3. Operating the System
This section explains how to operate Easislides during the worship service, with the set you created
at home, on the church computer.
A. Importing Worship Services
1. In the Service panel, click “Manage Worship Lists”, and create a new
worship service titled “Service _insert date_”. Open this service on the panel.
See “2-A Creating a Worship Service” for details.
2. Click the “Add External Document to Worship List” button.
3. Find your worship service that you brought from home, and click Open.
Your service should now appear in the church computer.
B. Going Live
1. Select a song and click “Copy to Output” (red arrow pointing right).
2. Your screen should now have an Edit screen on the left, and a LIVE screen on the right.
1. This button puts the screen on LIVE
and projects it to the entire church.
When it is LIVE, the button will be
glowing red. Click again to take off LIVE.
2. This button fades out the text of the
song, leaving only the background
image.
3. This button fades out the entire screen
to black.
4. This button plays any videos you may
be using (see “7-A Video
Backgrounds”).
5. These two buttons go to the previous
or the next song. Alternatively, press
“PageUp” and “PageDown” on your
keyboard.
6. These two buttons go to the previous
or the next slide of lyrics in the song.
7 Alternatively, press “UpArrow” or “DownArrow” on your keyboard.
7. These shortcut buttons jump to certain slides in the song (you can press the buttons on the keyboard as
shortcuts also). The numbers (1, 2, 3…) represent verses, P is prechorus, C is chorus, and B is bridge.
8. This screen displays all the lyrics in the song. Click on any group of lyrics to jump to that slide.
9. This is the preview of what the congregation will see on the big screen.
NOTE: to jump to another song out of order in the set, simply click on the song in the Service panel, and click
the red “Copy to Output” arrow. This will automatically send the song to LIVE.
NOTE: double clicking any song from the Service panel also automatically sends it to LIVE.
C. Editing While Live
You may edit any song that is not currently on LIVE, even if the service is going. The left Edit Screen
may be adjusted without affecting the LIVE screen. See “4-C Formatting Songs”.
8 4. Formatting Songs and Backgrounds
This sections explains how to format songs and backgrounds, or edit the lyrics, before or during a service.
A. Adding Background Stills
1. In the Images tab of the Library panel, you will find all
the backgrounds available. To add new ones, click the
“Import an Image” button”.
2. Find the image that you wish to use, and Open it.
NOTE: The image may not be available immediately. To
fix that, from the drop down menu (currently on
“Scenery”), select any of the other folders (“Tiles” or
“Images”). Then return to the “Scenery” folder; the
images should now be available.
NOTE: If no images can be seen in the Scenery folder,
close Easislides and restart the program.
B. Formatting Songs
In the Edit Screen, click the “Set” tab. This brings you to the Formatting screen for that song.
1. If this box is unchecked, check it in order to make
individual changes to this song.
2. Use this button to load a Settings Template (see “4-C
Standard Format”).
3. The Layout section allows you to display Headings
(titles of songs), outline/shadow font, etc. Some of
the features will be used (ex, Transposing Chords
and Show Notations). Please refrain from messing
with this section.
4. This button clears any background images you may
have selected for the song, returning it to its
standard blue background.
5. This button allows you to use Media as a
background (see “7-A Video Backgrounds”).
6. These buttons set transitions for the slides. You may
play with them, but for the most part, do not use any
transitions.
7. Region 1 is the section that contains all the text for
the lyrics. You may change font, sie, color,
bold/italics, etc. here. The “Top” number indicates
the distance of the text from the top of the screen
(this allows you to reposition the lyrics).
8. Preview your changes here.
NOTE: After making ANY changes, ALWAYS return the song to Standard Format (see below).
9 C. Standard Format
CFC will use a Standard Format for ALL its songs. If a song is not in Standard Format, or if you made
any changes to the formatting, click the “Load Settings Template” button (#2 on previous image)
Find the Standard.est file that you placed in the SettingsTemplates folder (from “1-D Importing
Settings”). Open the file.
For Announcements (see “2-E Adding Announcements”), use the Announcements.est file.
D. Editing Songs
1. To edit a song, right click the song from the Library and select “Edit _song title_”.
2. The Edit Database Screen will pop up.
1. These buttons create a new song (see “5-A
Adding New Songs”), save, and exit from
the Edit screen.
2. This section has the Song Title, Writer, and
Copyright information (note CCLI number
is included in the Copyright line).
3. This Region 1 features the lyrics. The text is
displayed exactly as they will be on the
large screen. Red [chorus] or [1] markers
indicate when a new slide begins, and
mark the slide as Chorus, Verse 1, etc.
4. Use these buttons to add a new slide and
mark it as a Verse, PreChorus, Chorus, etc.
5. Use this button to add a new screen
without marking it; ex when a single verse
is too long for one screen.
NOTE: Make sure to preview your edits, to
make sure all the text still fits on the screen. If
the text runs off, either make the font smaller
(see “4-B Formatting Songs”) or edit the song
and make it a new line.
10 5. Adding New Songs
If you ever encounter new songs, this section explains how to add them to the database, delete them, and edit them.
A. Adding a New Song
1. Click the “New” button in the top left of the Home Screen. The Edit Database Screen will appear.
Follow directions as noted in “4-D Editing Songs”. Make sure to include Title, Author, Copyright, and
CCLI information.
B. Exporting New Songs
Go to Tools à Export. The Export screen will pop up.
1. Tick the English folder.
2. All your songs from the folder
will appear here. Tick the new
songs you just created.
3. Use this section to narrow down
your search based on when the
song was created.
4. Click here and select a place to
export the song(s) to. Name the
file “Export _Your Name_
_Date_” (ex “Export Steven Zhou
02 02 12”).
NOTE: If one of the new songs
appears in your worship service, you
MUST export these from your home
computer and import them into the
church computer. It is NOT enough
simply to export the Worship Service.
NOTE: Whenever you create a new song, please email it to the tech administrator (currently Steven
Zhou, @ [email protected]).
C. Importing New Songs
Follow the same directions as from importing the song database (“1-C Importing Database”), except
this time using the file that you just exported. The songs are now available on the church computer.
11 6. Extras
This section will explain any extra features built into Easislides that we could plausibly use; it will
grow as more are discovered and put to use.
A. Video Backgrounds
Go to the Formatting Screen for a song, and click on “Media: None”.
1. Click here to use a background video file
(videos must be in .mpeg format).
2. Click here to use a Live Feed from a webcam
or a connected video camera.
3. Adjust the volume settings of the video.
4. Click here if the video is a loop video.
5. Test the video here.
NOTE: to make the video play during the service,
click the “Media Pause/Resume” button located
in the LIVE screen.
NOTE: after using videos, ALWAYS reset the Media to “None”.
NOTE: please do not use videos during regular Sunday services, unless you have expressed
permission from the Tech Administrator and the Worship Leader.
