BullShooter Finals
25th Anniversary a Success
The 25th Anniversary BullShooter Finals took place at the Hyatt
Regency O'Hare, in Rosemont, IL, May 27-31, 2010. It was a full weekend of
darts, parties, reuniting with old friends and making new friends in celebration of the tournament's 25th Anniversary. $125,000 was awarded over
the weekend with an additional $5,000 in cash plus free hotel nights given
away in a drawing at the parties on Saturday and Sunday night. Flat screen
TVs were raffled off at the end of the weekend and the top winners won
beautiful silver and gold cup trophies for their achievements.
A 4-person team event started the weekend off for the early arrivals. The
numbers were up by 17 teams and all the money was returned in the payout. Friday the Top Gun events in singles and triples were played. The 24
main events started on Saturday morning with the room filled with doubles
teams and some exciting competition. Sunday is always one of the highlights of the BullShooter Finals when the annual International competition
takes place. This year teams participated from Germany, Holland, Portugal,
Spain, Switzerland and the U.S.A. This year the "BullShooter Legends" competed in the international event. Monday ended the tournament with Pro
Singles, Pro AA Singles, Women's Doubles Cricket B, A, and AA, Men's
Doubles Cricket, Pro Doubles Cricket and Pro AA Doubles Cricket.
The annual Most Valuable Player Awards were presented on Monday.

Player Eligibility
All participants in Team Dart 2011 must:
Be sanctioned by the National Dart Association for the 2010-2011 membership year.
B.
Play in leagues ran by National Dart Association Charter Holder members in good standing
and that are in compliance with all league-sanctioning guidelines. (Only league systems that
have every player sanctioned are considered sanctioned leagues.)
C.
Have played a minimum of 96 league games between April 1, 2010 and March 4, 2011.
Qualifying games must be obtained in no less than eight (8) separate weeks of league play.
[League games can consist of ‘01 and/or Cricket with a minimum of 24 games in the format
the player is entering (‘01 or Cricket).]
D. Compete during regular league play on machines owned and operated by National Dart
Association Charter Holder members.
E.
Be entered in the tournament by the National Dart Association Charter Holder on whose
machine(s) they have completed the minimum game requirements for tournament entry.
F.
Have a National Dart Association player-skill rating using the Points Per Dart (PPD)
and/or Marks Per Round (MPR) performance rating system for the event in which they
are entered, to be classified. These performance ratings require a player to compete in 24
games in a single season for that event. Minimum time to obtain a player-skill rating is eight
(8) separate league nights in eight (8) different weeks. Players without a valid PPD or MPR
will be classified as a Master-rated player and the Charter Holder will be billed for a Master
entry.
G. Not compete in more than one level (Open, Ladies and Masters) in any one event.
H. Be at least 18 years of age and comply with the regulations of local, state and federal laws
in which they compete in leagues.
All tournament teams must:
A.
Choose to compete in open or ladies but cannot compete in both for a single event.
B.
Declare a full team roster, including substitutes, when certificates are completed.
C.
Must participate in the same league system and have formed a tournament team meeting the
following criteria and applying to all events:
• Each person on the team roster must meet all of the player requirements listed under
Player/Team Eligibility.
• All players must have a minimum of 96 league games from April 1, 2010 to March 4, 2011.
(These league games can consist of ‘01 and/or Cricket, not just the game the tournament
team is entering.)
Substitute players for doubles, triples and teams:
Teams may use a substitute from within the same league system as long as the substitute
player has competed in the same league format as the regular players. Regular team
substitutes should be entered on the regular player certificate.

corrected. However, a referee must be called to witness the situation and only a referee can make
the necessary correction to the score using the back-up feature.
Onsite Alternate Rule
Onsite alternates can be used by a team as long as the Tournament Committee has approved the
change two hours prior to the day’s event. An alternate must be from the same league system and
meet all the player requirements noted in Player/Team Eligibility. Alternate players must be rated
equal to or less than the player they are replacing. It is recommended possible alternates be
submitted, with their statistics, prior to the tournament by your operator to avoid delays. Onsite
approval for alternates not already participating in the tournament can be requested by a Charter
Holder, with appropriate league statistics, within the time frame noted. For ladies and mixed
events, the alternate player must also be of the same gender. No roster changes are allowed in
finals. Absolutely no one can serve as an alternate on more than one team per event. Any players
on your team roster for that event may be rotated in match-by-match, not between games.
Smoking Policy
All Events Start

Alyssa Pfennig of

From the Players’ Perspective
What did you enjoy most about your trip to the European
Dart Championship in Leukerbad, Switzerland?
There were so many things. It seems as though
no matter who we came into contact with, everyone was so gracious, helpful and kind. I absolutely
loved the town of Leukerbad. It was so beautiful
and the hiking that we got to do was simply amazing. I loved that, as opposed to Team Dart in April,
this trip was much more relaxing in that there were
days when we didn’t even play at all. We just got to
sleep in and then really get to ‘vacation’…ie…sightsee, hike, dine in nice establishments, etc. Truly,
this was the opportunity of a lifetime.
—Amy Almaguer
The trip was very enjoyable because of the
nice people who helped us out and those who
traveled with us.
—Isidro “Bino” Almaguer
The thing I liked most about the trip was
meeting new friends. I spent a lot of time with
Amy and Bino (a couple who won the trip from
Colorado) and had a lot of laughs. They were a
blast to hang out with! The scenery there was
unbelievable. No matter which way you looked,
it was a Kodak picture.
—Randy Van Deursen
My favorite part of the trip was the people of
Switzerland and the EDU and their overall
hospitality. During the entry ceremony, Team
USA received a standing ovation from the entire
crowd; we were the only country to receive this
welcome. One of the neatest things was that
most of players we played against couldn’t
speak English, but that didn’t matter. Darts is
unique because it is based on numbers and
those are the same for all of us. Even though we
couldn’t understand each other verbally, we
could still communicate. We knew what the
other person was thinking based on the throw
and didn’t need to speak.
—Ralph “Butch” Ritter
I’ve never been out of the country before.
Switzerland was such a beautiful country. I
never would have gotten the opportunity to
travel there if it wasn’t for this trip. It is surely
an experience I will never forget.

The love we received from all European Dart
players and tournament staff. The owner of
Hotel Viktoria and staff, the people in
Leukerbad. Even entertainer Freedy M. sang
songs in English for us at an outside restaurant.
Last but not least, the beauty of the Swiss Alps.
—Ricky “Rabbit” Stoddard
What did you learn regarding the culture of darts
internationally?
The cultural of darts in Switzerland was
very serious and competitive as well as
player-friendly. The system (sign-up, kiosks,
monitors, etc.) that they have implemented is
very efficient and easy to learn. It was very
nice to be able to sign up for an event onsite.
It was fun to meet people from so many
different countries and see the level of
international competition.
—Amy Almaguer
I learned that those in Switzerland actually
have a chance to travel to different countries
maybe twice a year or even more, which for
us is not that often. They have a lot more
opportunities in Switzerland.
—Isidro “Bino” Almaguer
The whole tournament was shot on 13”
boards, which was something new to most of
us. On the day of the international event, there
were 29 different countries represented, and
we all met in the town square and marched
though the streets of Leukerbad with our flags,
ending up in the tournament hall. A lot of very
good players from all over the world were
Ralph "Butch" Ritter of
Plankinton, South
Dakota - D & E Music

present which made the competition tough. All
in all, it was a very good experience.
—Randy Van Deursen Lar
ry Ro
The tournament was the most smoothly run
tournament I have ever been to. Everything
was electronic and displayed across the tournament room. The entire tournament was so
organized because everyone knew where they
needed to be because it was automatically
updated and always viewable. The EDU did an
excellent job organizing this tournament.
—Ralph “Butch” Ritter
The Europeans play and practice on a
different style of board which is a little more
difficult. The triples, doubles and bulleyes are
smaller. It would be good to practice on these
boards, because when you play, you will have a
bigger target which is easier to hit!
—Larry Roe
Whether playing darts in Switzerland, Vegas,
Michigan State Dart Tournament or playing
darts in a Rabbit Dart League, all cultures love
the sport of darts!

European Dart Championship
Leukerbad, Switzerland • June 17-25, 2010
About the Program
The AMOA-NDA awarded a trip to eight NDA sanctioned players to play in the European Dart Championship hosted by the
European Darts Union (EDU) in Leukerbad, Switzerland. The championship was held in June of 2010. The eight NDA sanctioned players were comprised of four doubles teams that were randomly selected in early spring of 2010. Two doubles teams
(four individuals) were selected from a 2009 NDA dart league; one doubles team was selected from a 2009 state dart
tournament participating in the NDA’s Tournament Incentive Program and one doubles team (two individuals) was selected
from 2010 Team Dart entrants. Roundtrip airfare and accommodations were provided for each individual winner.
Keep participating in NDA leagues, NDA-affiliated state tournaments and Team Dart for your chance to win a trip to
another tournament outside of the United States!

TXDarts lost a good friend and a fantastic ambassador to the sport
of darts this year, Joe Wayne Hefley 1958-2010. Known as Grizzly, he
helped build darts in the Dallas Fort Worth area. His family and friends
would like to thank all those in the NDA who donated to his cause. We
held a fundraiser tournament earlier in the year, a soft tip and steel tip.
First in the Soft tip was Bo Donahue and Tim Sopp. In the steel event
Ed McCammack, Jr. and James Bullard took home the honors.
TXDarts ended the summer with a BBQ/Pool party marking the end
of a great summer session with family and friends. Taking first place in
the summer 4-person spot was Blind Squirrels, second place was Boom
Baby and third place was Appaku. Ladies Singles was won by Lisa
Riojas and Men’s Singles was Paul Riojas. Jeff Mahan received a special Joe Hefley
