There was a good roll up of members with a few dressed up in “K” theme, we had Kenny the Plumber, Kinky, Kermit, Kiss and even the Kitchen Table. The winners were voted on by ballot by all who attended, this saved a couple of people having to decide the winners. Food was plentiful with lots leftover and the overnighters helped finish this off in the morning for breakfast. The campers and party goers all enjoyed the cool night with some showers and some wind through the night. They also enjoyed breakfast and the cleanup, which did not take very long with everyone helping. The year saw a few trips and events and some joint outings with the Albury club. On a whole the club had an enjoyable and good year. Donna & I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Good New Year on behalf of the club. We also hope that everyone is looking forward to a good year of 4WDriving in the come year, 2010. See you out on the track somewhere Joe FAREWELL Good Luck Piper’s and Murphy’s By the time you read this Pipers and Murphy’s will be only a week or so away from leaving on their adventure of a lifetime. Everything has been planned for so long and now all of a sudden the time has come. We wish them all the best in their adventures and we hope to hear from you along the way, just in case we can meet up for some trips on your travels. It is a coincidence both couples are leaving at the same time but I believe they are heading in 2 different directions. The club has a few members travelling the country now, we hope all goes well. The great Aussie dream has finally started for them!!!!! The register keeps a record of a person’s decision to be a donor and of the organs and tissue they agree to donate. Authorised medical personnel can access the register 24 hours a day from anywhere in Australia. This means that when someone dies in a situation where donation might be possible, medical personnel can immediately know whether the deceased person wished to be a donor. If the deceased person is on the register, their family will be asked to give their consent. By recording your decision on the register you can be confident that your decision will be known should the circumstances arise where you may become an organ or tissue donor. If you are not registered, your family will still be asked to give consent. That is why it is important that your family knows your wishes. To register to become an organ and tissue donor: • visit the Australian Organ Donor Register website (http://www.medicareaustralia.gov.au/public/services/aodr/index.jsp) • call 1800 777 203 • fill out a form at any Medicare office Wagga Wagga 4WD Club Newsletter Page 13 Your local GP may also have registration forms. You must be 16 years or older to register your organ donation decision on the register. Even if you have previously registered your decision elsewhere (for example by ticking a box on your driver’s licence renewal) it is still important that you register on the Australian Organ Donor Register as it is the only national register and details can be linked to your Medicare number. To find out more, including your current status on the Australian Organ Donor Register, call Medicare Australia on 1800 777 203 or visit your local Medicare office. Australian Organ Donor Awareness Week Australian Organ Donor Awareness Week (AODAW) is the largest public awareness campaign in Australia associated with organ and tissue donation for transplantation. The next AODAW will be held between Sunday 21 February and Sunday 28 February 2010.. AODAW aims to raise donation rates in Australia by focusing on the pressing need for organ and tissue donation, encouraging families to discuss their wishes, highlighting the success of organ transplantation in Australia and promoting the registration of consent on to the Australian Organ Donor Register (AODR). Visit our Australian Organ Donor Register Further information page to find out what’s happening in your state or territory. People are encouraged to ‘sign on to save lives’ by registering online via the image above. Wagga Wagga 4WD Club Newsletter Page 20 Christmas Party 2009 “K” Well another year has ended with us all gathering at John and Brenda’s for our annual dress up Christmas party with this year’s theme being ‘K’. We had many a range of costumes From Kiss the rock band to the little Kiwi kid!! Prizes were given out for the best dressed. They went to Kiss and the Kitchen Table. Everyone was well into the Christmas spirit, there was plenty of laughter and food to feed an army. The weather stayed at bay, as we had just been through a heat wave. With a cool change coming through the day of the party, we had a little rain but not enough to dampen our spirits. We partied on into the night with Michael and his guitar, Peter, Donna and Paul backing him up and a few other people joining in the singing. Some even joined in with actions when it called for it. A few people chose to camp out at the Moore’s for the evening, braving the wild winds and enjoy a lovely breakfast with again enough food to feed the hungry. Everyone seemed to have a lovely night and morning and Cant wait for the letter “L”…….. Bring on 2010. Merry Christmas and a Safe New Year.
