The monarch butterfly emerges from its pupa and flies away, feeding on flowers and just enjoying the short life . It lives for about two to six weeks They hatch into baby caterpillars, called larvae. It takes about four days for the eggs to hatch. After about two weeks, the caterpillar will be fullygrown and will start the process of metamorphosis. It will attach itself to a stem or a leaf using silk and transform into a chrysalis for about 10 days. The cycle continues with this generation dying after laying eggs for the next generation. The second generation of butterflies is born in May and June, and then the third generation will be born in July and August. Pictures by...............................
