I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Simmental breeders to the Virginia Beef Expo Simmental events. The Virginia Simmental Association works hard to host a great event for breeders from the state
of Virginia as well as consignors and supporters from surrounding states. DP Sales Management is happy to
once again be working with the consignors and officers of the association to make this event a success. The
cattle market has been great in recent months, and spring sales have been happening with great success
throughout the Southeast. Make sure you mark your calendar to be with us in Harrisonburg on April 20th
to continue the spring sale season.
First off, we would like to take a moment to reflect on any individual who will not be with us this year
at the Virginia Beef Expo. Ms. Betty Campbell was always a great supporter of the Simmental breed, the
Virginia Simmental Association, and the Beef Expo. Sadly, last year, just shortly after the Beef Expo, Ms.
Campbell passed away. The Virginia Beef Expo will currently not be the same without her, but we know that
she will be cheering us on from a much better place. We have the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people through this business, and is sad when we know that we will be going to a sale and will not be
greeted by a particular familiar face.
Betty would be happy to see the success of the Virginia Beef Expo continue as it is this year. Once again,
we will have a diverse offering of genetics from Virginia consignors as well as consignors from neighboring
states. No matter what you might be browsing for to add to your herd, come and be with us in Harrisonburg, and we promise you will find something to take home. There are genetic packages and semen from
some of the breeds shining cow families, as well as live lots such as opens, breds, pairs, and bulls that are
ready to go to work for their new owner. Take a look through the catalog, but make sure you head over to
the sale to check out the offering for yourself.
When making your travel plans, please be sure to be with the Virginia Simmental Association on Thursday evening for the annual membership meeting and dinner. This is always a great chance to fellowship
with fellow Simmental breeders, learn about events happening in your association, and do it all over a
great meal. There is further information below on the meeting, or you can contact Dana Campbell or any
member of the association board of directors. As far as the sale offering goes, if DP Sales Management, sale
staff, or sale chairman Tommy Cline can be of service to you prior to the sale please do not hesitate to call.
We look forward to seeing you in Harrisonburg on April 20th for the Virginia Beef Expo!

Here is a special embryo lot from Shenandoah right up
the road at Quicksburg. SVS Rosebud has a always been a great producer
however she is just starting to shine and claims a top spot in our donor lineup.
Her daughter, SVS Starlight was selected out of our sale by the Lawrence
Family. Under their care and Starlight’s maturity, she has developed into a
impressive female claiming Grand Champion female at the Ohio State fair.
After that Starlight turned heads at the North American. In December the
Lawrence family sold half of Starlight for $14,000 to Baker and Whitten. At the
recent Ohio Beef Expo her embryos commanded $1,350. Also, the full sibs
eggs sired by Trademark sold for $600. At Shenandoah we hopefully have
laid the ground and are extremely proud that many breeders are noticing
the impact and potential of this SVS cow family. Selling three embryos
guaranteeing one pregnancy. A big thanks to all involved at this point.

Here is a great chance to add outstanding genetics to
your herd through this package of embryos. The TNC Sweet Dream cow
is impressive and proven, and calves by Milestone have been winning
in the show ring across the U.S. Plus Milestone semen is not available
anymore, so the only way to get in on it is through genetic packages.
No matter if you have bulls or heifers they will be an outcross in the
Simmental breed. Don’t overlook the chance to purchase these embryos
- you never know, the next AI stud, champion show heifer, or donor could
be the result of the mating

The Mavis donor is a female that was born in Virginia and has
made her way as a top donor in the Sloup program. As the picture

Lookout will work great. The progeny on the ground looks awesome.

Simme Valley Ranch have allowed us the opportunity to work with
them on this tremendous donor. Power Lass K1 is a very impressive
Power Stroke female. Ask Doug Parke or Jeremie Ruble about this
cow and they can tell you just how good she is. K1 is huge barreled,
clean necked, and extremely flexible as she travels. Apparent from
some of the first ET progeny we are getting, K1 will pass these traits
on to her offspring. Also, this mating was a DP special so its sure to
be a home run. Resulting progeny of these embryos will be homo
polled by pedigree.

The Vidalia donor continues to be one of the popular
donors at Rocky Hollow. She claims that top spot, because of her
near perfect design, sound structure and superb udder quality.
Vidalia’s genetics have been spread across the country with embryo’s
selling to Sunset View, Sanders Ranch and Hudson Pines to name
a few. Her natural calf by grandmaster sold in the 2011 Virginia Beef
Expo. The Genex bull and Cow Camp herdsire should click well with
Vidalia. This past North American Champion will pass on genetics
any program can be proud of plus return value.

The R9 donor was bred at Jess A Marr by Mike Walters and is a
member of the H25 cow family. Actually R9 was sold as a open heifer
in a past Virginia Beef Expo sale and was purchased on order by
Doug for Ingram Livestock. Several years have past and R9 was
selected by the Loschen family out of the Genetic Connection sale.
R9 is a full sister to L24 the dam of Cottontail. As many breeders
know especially Virginia breeders the list of all the champions and
high sellers out of this family is many and the list keeps getting
longer. Because of the fertility of R9 you have the opportunity to
select between several bulls. The sires are as follows. Trademark
(full sibs in blood to KenCo Miley Cottontail), JF Milestone (the
outcross bull Circle M and HPF), SS PRS High Voltage, American
Royal champion (Duracell son line bred back to the same family),
and Make It Rain (DW Foundation son and baldie, flush to be done
end of March). Be at the sale or call in your bid. We are offering 3
or 5 embryos out of all mating’s. Contact DP sale for any details. At
Loschen Farms we can shipped asap to get in your cows.

We are proud to be able to offer two sets of embryos out of this
outstanding young donor. This Analyst daughter is one that has a
very bright future. She was one of the high selling bred heifers at the
2011 North Carolina Fall Harvest. She offers both a stacked set of
EPDs and the phenotype to back it up. The first mating is to a high
seller at the 2011 SVF Bull sale, Packing Heat. He went on to be the
Reserve Champion Percentage bull at North American. His dam is the
consistent donor, Daisy Mae, who offered a flush that was donated to
the foundation sold for $10,000 in January. On his top side, he goes
back tot he legendary donor, B80. The second set is sired by Sharper
Image, who has had several top selling sons for the last two years
at Triangle J. Sharper Image has a superb set of EPDs and should
produce very desirable sons and daughters from this mating.

You can’t go wrong with this pair look at the showy heifer
calf at her side by Black Rescue - the bull Larry sold to Pigeon

another high quality calf. This is a very nice 3 in 1 package that will
be a welcome addition to any herd.

polled, moderately-framed calving ease Simmental/Angus
bull that has the capacity, muscle, soundness, and growth
to complete the package. His sire, SC Mo Magic, works incredibly
well to produce percentage bulls, and Prince Ivan is the best one
that we have seen. Prince Ivan’s dam, PVSM Firebird, is a top cow
in our program and has produced several high sellers, including
PVSM Thunderbird, high selling purebred bull at this sale in 2010.
Prince Ivan has been shown and has never been defeated-he was
Grand Champion Percentage Simmental Bull at the 2011 Keystone
International Livestock Expo, and Grand Champion Simmental Bull
at the 2012 PA Farm Show. If you are looking for a Simmental/Angus
