A St. Dom’s Weekly Report In This Issue: Re-enrollment & Tuition Asst. Information New RSS Feed for Lewiston Campus Parent Ad Yearbook Form Strategic Planning Survey Field Hockey Raises Money for Breast Cancer Upcoming Events Upcoming Sporting Events Current Fundraisers From the Principal’s Desk Dear Parents/Guardians, Snow, snow, and more snow! This seems to be the talk of the town, but here at St. Dom’s we have more pressing things on our minds: The Great School Spirit Challenge and the Good Shepherd Food Bank. Students, teachers, staff, friends, clubs and teams have been working diligently to collect canned goods and raise donations to help St. Dom’s win the WGME’s Spirit Challenge. Jeff Peterson and his crew from Channel 13 will be at the Auburn Campus to begin the live taping at 6 a.m. and will stay until 8 a.m. The live broadcasts will be at 6:15, 6:45, 7:15 and 7:45 a.m. The official school challenge involves eight schools and the school with the most spirit, and food and money raised will win the challenge. The fundraising continues until February 27 to give all participating schools the same time frame to collect donations. All proceeds will go directly to the Good Shepherd Food Bank who supply food to the many needy families across Maine. Currently, our students and staff have raised approximately 30,000 pounds of food! St. Dom’s prides itself on community service and this event is bringing out the continuous generosity of many people. We hope to have the bragging rights of winning the trophy in this challenge not only to show how our community rallies together to help people in need but to demonstrate that the St. Dom’s spirit is alive, well and contagious. We are hoping to fill the gym with excitement. This will be a great opportunity to showcase our student body and the strong family atmosphere St. Dom’s is fortunate to embrace. You are invited to attend and show your spirit tomorrow. The dress for the occasion will be athletic uniforms or black and white clothing. After WGME leaves we will provide breakfast to all in attendance which is due to the generosity of local supporters. The students will then enjoy activities to continue the theme of the day: school spirit and community service. Their choices of events will include gym games, a movie in the commons, board, card or video games in the library and two hours of free skating at the Norway Savings Bank Arena. Dismissal for the day is scheduled for 12 p.m. and the library will remain open until 3 p.m. We want to thank everyone who has contributed to this event and for the continued support you give to St. Dom’s. Thank you and God Bless. Joline Girouard, Principal www.StDomsMaine.org February 5, 2015 ◊ Page 1 St. Dom’s News A Re-enrollment and Tuition Assistance for 2015-16 s announced a couple of weeks ago, the Admissions Office is hoping to have next year’s reenrollment and tuition assistance information (for those who have already applied) out to our families by the end of Catholic Schools Week. However, the recent string of snow days has hindered us from meeting this timeline. Parents are asked to check their email on Monday, February 9 for information on re-enrollment. The tuition assistance information is very important to a number of St. Dom’s families and will be forthcoming in the next two weeks. If you have questions or would like more information about re-enrollment or tuition assistance, please contact Jim Boulet in the Admissions Office at 207.782.6911 ext. 2110. R Stay On Top of Announcements Through RSS Feeds! SS feeds, or Real Simple Syndication, are a great way to stay connected to information that is important to you. RSS feeds can be thought of as a “news feed” and every time information is shared through this “news feed” readers are automatically delivered the content to their phone, tablet or computer. Some devices require the use of an app that must be downloaded. As part of a trial, St. Dom’s created a new RSS feed for daily announcements at the Lewiston Campus. The purpose is to help keep parents informed on news specific to Lewiston students that may get lost in the weekly newsletter. Daily announcements will be updated every morning so parents can read what their children may forget to tell them. If parents respond well to this trial, an additional RSS feed will be created for daily Auburn Campus announcements as well as lunch menus. If you would like to subscribe to the newLewiston Campus Daily Announcement RSS feed, please click here or copy the link below into your current RSS feed reader: http://www.stdomsmaine.org/postings/blogs/rss/parents/news-forlewiston-parents-rss Lewiston Campus Lunch Menu •Friday, Feb. 6: Cheese or Pepperoni Pizza •Monday, Feb. 9: Chicken Soft Tacos •Tuesday, Feb. 10: Pork and Gravy with Mashed Potatoes •Wednesday, Feb, 11: Chocolate Chips Pancakes with Turkey Bacon •Thursday, Feb 12: Pizza Burger on a Bun •Friday, Feb 13: Italian Sausage Tortellini Bake For a more detailed school menu, click here. * As always, a Ham, Turkey or Sunbutter and Jelly sandwich are available everyday. ◊ Back To Top ◊ www.StDomsMaine.org February 5, 2015 ◊ Page 2 W Additional Information 2014-15 Yearbook Parent Ad Form e’ve passed the halfway point in the school year, and as many of you know, production is well underway for the 2014-15 Saint Dominic Academy yearbook. At the end of the game the girls raised $200. During this week’s Mass, Evie Taylor and Dotty Guild from St. Mary’s were invited to the Auburn Campus where Coach Brian Kay and the captains presented a check. “I am proud to be a part of this team!
