The mind can deny what the body desires, and even what it needs, such as sex or sleep. Modern life and current systems have trained us to work at all costs. We have moved away from our raw nature and have forgotten to trust our instincts, which cause us to lose the communication between our mind and our body. In this work, I attempt to listen from an alternative perspective, one that is more connected to my own nature. I try to regain the satisfaction and pleasure of some of my basic needs, like sleeping and thus dreaming, and being attentive to the messages my body has for my mind.” costumes Cía Tania Pérez-Salas “In this new work, I use my perspective as a Mexican female artist to create images that illustrate male and female gender roles in contemporary Mexican society as perceived through the culture’s strong emphasis on masculinity, a concept known as ‘machismo’.” - Tania Pérez-Salas - Tania Pérez-Salas 20 MINUTE INTERMISSION GLORYA KAUFMAN PRESENTS DANCE AT THE MUSIC CENTER PERFORMANCES MAGAZINE 7 , WHO S WHO Perez-Salas Compañia de Danza and this spring season she also dances with the ballet company Connect the Dots on a new presentation of Sleeping Beauty. I try to regain the satisfaction and pleasure of some of my basic needs, like sleeping and thus dreaming, and being attentive to the messages my body has for my mind.” costumes Cía Tania Pérez-Salas “In this new work, I use my perspective as a Mexican female artist to create images that illustrate male and female gender roles in contemporary Mexican society as perceived through the culture’s strong emphasis on masculinity, a concept known as ‘machismo’.” - Tania Pérez-Salas - Tania Pérez-Salas 20 MINUTE INTERMISSION GLORYA KAUFMAN PRESENTS DANCE AT THE MUSIC CENTER PERFORMANCES MAGAZINE 7 TANIA PÉREZ-SALAS COMPAÑÍA DE DANZA PERSONNEL TEACHERS THE MUSIC CENTER STAFF EXECUTIVE STAFF PHOTOGRAPHER Far Alonso Katya Robledo Andrés Arámbula Domingo Rubio Jacky López Diego Vázquez Rada Onorica Martha Elena Welsh Howard Sherman Ricardo Trabulsi INTERIM PRESIDENT & CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER, EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT & CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER NATIONAL REPRESENTATION Alberto Flores Monroy Saray Hernández Inés Vázquez de Mercado Yáñez INTERNATIONAL REPRESENTATION Rena Shagan Associates, Inc. 16A West 88 Street, NYC NY [email protected] www.shaganarts.com International Tour Coordinator: Sandy García ADMINISTRATION Carmen Bojorquez PROJECT MANAGER Daniela Uribe SOCIAL MEDIA FACEBOOK Rosa Flores Llerandi WEBSITE ADMINISTRATION COORDINATOR www.shaganarts.com/Tania-Perez-Salas-Compania Rodolfo Almazan ACCOUNTANT THE BLUE RIBBON Tommy Lee Jenny Sturrock @TaniaPerezSalas CiaTaniaPerezSalas ADVANCEMENT Abegail Baguio Saralee Boretz Cheryl Brown Sarah Haggerty Amanda Hallman Abigail Hollingshead Margaret Irwin Karen Pogoda Laura Recchi Christopher Reiner Eveleen Samayoa Jennifer Samsel Melanye Taylor Mercedes Barajas-Tondre Delaine Ureño ARCHIVES Julio Gonzalez TWITTER SPECIAL PROJECTS BOX OFFICE Tom Bucher Shane Morton Shawnet Sweets Marlow Wyatt CONTACT E-MAIL [email protected] SPECIAL THANKS I deeply appreciate the support of my company, my colleagues, and the cultural institutions of Mexico.
