2013 Highland Lakes Middle School District Track & Field Meet General Information
1. Scratches and Adds may be made online until 12:00 noon on April 4th.
2. The Scratch Meeting will be held at 8:00AM in the Chap Court on Saturday April 6th, see
attached map. Only scratches will be allowed.
3. All UIL and NFHS rules and procedures will be followed.
4. Medals will be awarded 1-6 places in all divisions. Championship and Runner-Up trophies will be
awarded in all divisions.
5. Athletic Trainers will be available for treatment of injuries only.
6. Only coaches, officials, and athletes will be allowed on the track or infield. Parents and
spectators will not be allowed access to the field for any of the events.
7. Be sure that all athletes are on time for all events; running events will have priority.
8. All warm-ups will take place on the in-field area of the stadium.
9. Athletes will check in to receive hip numbers prior to their event at the designated area
between the finish line and the corral.
10. Only meet officials will be allowed in the press box. If there is a problem see the Meet Director,
Al Bennett.

Field events for distance will have 3 preliminary attempts and the top 8 competitors will
advance to the finals for 3 more attempts
12. All athletes are to compete in school issued uniform tops and bottoms; this includes shot and
discus throwers. Athletes should remove all jewelry before competing.
13. Prelim packets will be available shortly after the scratch meeting on Saturday morning in the
Chap Court.
14. Finals packets will be available after the conclusion of the prelims. An announcement will be
made from the press box.
15. Final results will be ready approximately 15 minutes after the conclusion of the meet. An
announcement will be made from the press box.
Chaparral Stadium/Practice Fields General Use Information
1. Only ¼" PYRAMID spikes may be used on the track and jumping surfaces.
2. Water in the only liquid allowed on the track or turf surfaces. ABSOLUTELY NO COLORED
DRINKS will be allowed on these surfaces by any school groups.
3. NO FOOD ITEMS will be allowed on the track or turf fields. This includes sunflower seeds,
peanuts, gum, and candy.
4. NO FOREIGN MATERIALS of any kind should be placed on the track or jumping surfaces
including dusts, powder, salt, etc.
5. ABSOLUTELY NO TAPE IS ALLOWED ON THE TRACK OR JUMPING SURFACES. If markers are
needed only tennis ball halves, poly spots, or similar materials will be allowed. If tape is found
on the track it will be removed.
6. TEAMS WILL BE STATIONED IN THE UPPER LEVEL OF THE HOME SIDE STANDS. No tents or
camps will be allowed in the infield.
7. PARENTS/SPECTATORS WILL SIT IN THE LOWER LEVEL OF THE HOME SIDE STANDS. Parents
and spectators will not be allowed on the track or field for any events.
8. ONLY COMPETING ATHLETES in school uniform meet officials, coaches, and athletic trainers are
permitted on the infield and field event areas.
9. TEAM MANAGERS should time from the stands. They will have limited access to the infield area
and must be in clothing that displays a school name/logo in order to do so.
10. NO RADIOS OR SOUND SYSTEMS without earphones will be allowed in the stands or on the
fields.
