PSHE Resources
PSHE is currently a non-statutory subject, however the DFE has stated, in
terms of its national curriculum framework, that that ‘all schools should
make provision for PSHE education, drawing on good practice’.
The DFE has not provided standardised frameworks for study, but the PSHE
Association, in consultation with a wide variety of agencies and practitioners, has
produced its own programme of study ‘based on the needs of today’s pupils and
schools’. Their programme of study ‘identifies the key concepts and skills that
underpin PSHE education and help schools to fulfil their statutory responsibility to
support pupils’ spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development and
prepare them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life.’ The
programme is divided into 3 themes:
1.
Health and Wellbeing
2.
Relationships
3.
Living in the Wider World
Below is a small selection of programmes which could be used to support teaching
under these themes.
