What NOT to Wear to Prison:
NO BLUE
NO OLIVE/KHAKI
No Olive Khaki Green
No Olive Green
No Camouflage
No Sky Blue No Navy Blue
No Baby Blue
NO ALL-ORANGE/
NO ALL-YELLOW/ NO LIME
GREEN
No dressing in All-Orange, AllYellow or All-Lime Green
Shirts/Jackets/Pants!
No Denim Blue Blue Blue!
Why?
The inmates wear BLUE! You don’t
want to be mistaken for an inmate!
Why?
The Correction Officers wear OLIVE!
You don’t want to be mistaken for a
“CO” !
NO DENIM & NO JEANS
No Blue Jeans, No Black Jeans,
No Grey Jeans
NO HEAVY METAL
ACCESSORIES
Buckles, Belts, Boots, Chains,
Grommets, Zippers,
Decorations
No Jean Shirts, Jackets, Hats OR
Camouflage of any color!
Why?
These are colors the inmates wear.
MINIMAL JEWELRY &
NO PURSES/PACKS
Religious symbols a “no no”
This means you and “Hu” too!
IF YOU MUST: Wear minimal
jewelry if any at all.
= OK!
Why?
Jewelry will not pass through the
metal detector and slows the process.
You must take it all off and put it all
on in line.
Why!
Silver, Gold or Metal buckles on belts,
boots, or clothing will not pass
through the metal detector and slows
the process. ONLY Light zippers on
pants are OK !
NO INAPPROPRIATE DRESS

No Spaghetti STRAPS!
No Tank Tops
No Low Cut Blouses
No Exposing Cleavage
No Exposing Midriffs

Why?
Remember where you are. The prison
does not want you to dress to inspire
sexual attention.
Why?
The inmates wear all orange
jumpsuits! And yellow/lime green are
similar to orange.

Why?
Inmates are very creative! Wires may
also be used as tools and/or weapons,
and so if you are wearing an
underwire bra, you either leave it at
the door, or you can’t go in.

LEAVE in your hotel room!

Money/Credit Cards
Chewing Gum
Purses/Fanny packs

Why?
Tattoos may be perceived as GANG
related & threatening.
Electronics won’t pass security.
We have no space to watch your
belongings! (Keep them in a pocket.)

Here’s what you CAN wear! Within the guidelines, we encourage creativity! !
RED / BURGUNDY
PINK / MAGENTA
PURPLE / VIOLET
Red is the color of the Base or Root
Chakra. Red Increases enthusiasm,
blood pressure, respiration, heartbeat
& is associated with enthusiasm.
Pink is the color of happiness and is
sensual and passionate without being
too aggressive. It encourages action
and confidence.
The color of the Crown Chakra, it
Uplifts. Calms the mind and nerves.
Offers a sense of Spirituality.
Encourages Creativity.
Pink has been used in prison holding
cells to effectively reduce erratic
behavior.
YELLOW is cheerful !
BLACK
APPROPRIATE DRESS
Yellow, The color of the Solar Plexus
Chakra, shines with optimism,
enlightenment, and happiness. Shades
of golden yellow carry the promise of
a positive future. Yellow will advance
from surrounding colors and instill
optimism and energy, as well as spark
creative thoughts. (Please no yellow
pants or jackets. See above under
“no’s.”)
Black symbolizes the combination of
all colors of the universe. From black,
all colors originate & spring up to
create the lively rainbow. The Black
Belt is the beginning of true
achievement, understanding &
wisdom, blending the mind & body
into one, a unity within oneself & the
universe.
Use your creativity! Mix and match
Colors, Textures, Layers & Patterns.
USM Logos and signs of Love and
Peace are always welcome.
Put necessities in a secure pants pocket.
Travel Light! !
KELLY GREEN
BROWN or GOLD
WHITE
Green is the color of nature and
healing. Green symbolizes self-respect
and well being. Green is the color of
balance. It also means learning,
growth and harmony. (Please no
khaki or olive green. See above under
“no’s.”)
Brown says stability, reliability, &
approachability.
White projects purity, cleanliness, and
neutrality. Aids mental clarity.
Enables fresh beginnings.

the most delicate vibration, the most
profound tranquility, and unlimited

It is the color of our earth and is
associated with all things natural or
organic.
SILVER/GREY OK!
(Except no grey sweatpants because
the inmates wear them.)
