Novi residents of the
Northville school district add
$5 to the resident rate.
Non-residents add $10
to the resident rate.
On the first day of group lessons, students will receive a short evaluation to ensure proper class placement, based on skill level, not
age. Classes are designed based on the guidelines of the American Red Cross so that students are learning with others of the same
ability. There may be students older/younger than your child enrolled. It is common for a child to repeat a class more than once.
Students will receive progress reports at the end of each session. Please feel free to discuss your child’s progress with your instructor at
any time. ENJOY YOUR SWIM EXPERIENCE!
Adult - Child Group Class, Ages 6 months – 3 ½ years
Parents and children learn together to increase a child’s comfort level in the water and build a foundation of basic skills, such as arm

on front and back, finning arm action and age-appropriate water safety topics.
Level 3: Stroke Development, Ages 5 and up
All students will build on the skills in Level 2 through additional guided practice in deeper water. They will enter water by jumping from
the side, fully submerge then recover to the surface and return to the side, enter the water headfirst from the side in sitting and kneeling
positions, bob while moving toward safety, practice rotary breathing, front, back and survival floats, change from vertical to horizontal

technique while increasing their endurance. Participants must be able to swim two full laps (50 yards) on their own. Students will
learn swimming etiquette while swimming laps to correct technique in the 4 competitive strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke,
and butterfly. If you’re looking for something to boost a swimmer’s skills before joining a competitive swim team or swim club, look no
further!
Classes may be cancelled if there is no or low enrollment one week prior to the first class. Please check online
registration for further information. No refunds or make-up classes will be scheduled for participant absence(s).

Private and Semi-Private Lessons
Do you desire a more personalized swimming class? Try our private and semi-private
swimming lessons. These lessons are recommended for adults, teens and children (age
three and older) that would prefer to have one-on-one attention. Your instructor will design
a class to fit the student’s needs and abilities. The skills taught will be determined by age,
ability level, and personal preference.
• Semi-private lessons are great for siblings and/or family members (maximum of 2) to learn together during the same time with one instructor. Those opting for the semi-private lessons, please note that participants of the same ability level work out best.

Play and Make Music
While interacting with your child, you will watch them develop
learning skills through music and motor activities, as they
play on an indoor playground. Children sing, play rhythm
instruments, and move to the beat during interactive music that
focuses on concentration, following instructions, and growing
upon skills week to week.
The open playground fulfills your child’s insatiable energy
and curiosity to explore, play on balance beams, climbing
structures, kid sized trampoline and more. Marie Kennedy has
combined her passion for working with children with her love
of music and has 20 years of experience teaching.

Teen Volunteers Needed!!!
Teens are needed to work with the children as they learn and practice their safety lessons. All teens in middle school and
high school are eligible for volunteering. The Safety Town program relies on teen volunteers for the success of the program.
This is a great way to contribute to the community. A terrific opportunity for youth groups, National Honor Society, Scouts,
etc. Volunteers are needed for all sessions on a first come first served basis. Once you have signed up to volunteer we ask
you honor the entire time commitment to retain program continuity. All volunteers will undergo a background check.

Northville Cooperative Preschool provides a safe and loving learning
environment where children learn and grow socially, emotionally, physically
and intellectually through play and exploration. Our cooperative preschool
is based on parents taking an active role in their child’s educational
development. Northville Cooperative Preschool provides a low adult to child
ratio by having two parent helpers assist in our classroom each day. This is
the best way to experience your child’s education firsthand.
