Announcing Open Enrollment for our 2’s, 3’s, 4’s & Young 5’s Programs
Northville Cooperative Preschool provides a safe and
loving learning environment where children learn and
grow socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually
through play and exploration. Our cooperative preschool
is based on parents taking an active role in their child’s educational development. Northville Cooperative Preschool provides a low adult to child ratio by
having two parent helpers assist in our classroom each day. This is the best way
to experience your child’s education first hand.
Beginning this Fall, Northville Cooperative Preschool will offer a Young 5’s class for children
who need more time before entering a Full-Day Kindergarten program and for those children
who will not turn 5 years old before the state mandated November 1st cutoff date. Please
note that the two’s and three’s programs accept children who are NOT potty trained.

On the first day of group lessons, students will receive a short evaluation to ensure proper class placement, based
on skill level, not age. Classes are designed based on the guidelines of the American Red Cross so that students
are learning with others of the same ability. There may be students older/younger than your child enrolled. It is
common for a child to repeat a class more than once. Students will receive progress reports at the end of each
session, please feel free to discuss your child’s progress with your instructor. ENJOY YOUR SWIM EXPERIENCE!

Private and semi-private swim lessons are recommended for adults, teens and children (age two and older) that
would prefer to have one-on-one attention. Skills taught will be determined by age, ability level, and personal
preference. Instructors will design a class to fit the student’s needs and abilities. Semi-private lessons are great for
siblings and/or family members (maximum of 2) to learn together during the same time with one instructor.
Those opting for the semi-private lessons, please note that participants of the same ability
level work out best.

How would you grade
your child’s report card?
Your child doesn’t have to struggle.
At Excel Institute, we understand your child’s frustrations with school
work. Our exclusive program, Integrated Visual Learning, teaches
your child how to think. We believe that most unsuccessful students
fail due to poor learning strategies as opposed to lack of intellectual
potential. These children need to learn how to learn.
Children who learn efficient visual thinking skills can make widespread
academic gains. Your child can learn to enjoy reading, writing and
math and develop better study skills.
If your child is struggling in school,
Excel Institute - Farmington Hills can help.

A Thousand Letters Home
In 2006, after the death of her father, Aarol “Bud” Irish,
author Teresa Irish opened her fathers Army trunk that had
resided in the family home her entire life. Nestled in it were
nearly 1000 letters from WWII written to his parents and
to the sweetheart who would later become his wife. The
firsthand account through the eyes, heart and words of one
soldier mirrors the journeys of many who served in this war.
Bud poured out his thoughts and feelings in these letters.
You will hear about the transition from boy to man during his
time as a soldier.
Ms. Irish is currently touring the country for book signing
events. We are very excited to have Ms. Irish share the
beautiful, romantic and historical letters with us.
Refreshments provided by American House.

Deep End Water Walking
Leave your gym shoes in the closet and hit the Recreation
Center at Hillside pool for an energizing deep water walk.
The water’s buoyancy supports the body’s weight, which
reduces stress on the joints and minimizes impact, while
giving you a great workout that participants do at their own
pace. Water provides twelve times the resistance of air, so
as you walk, you’re strengthening and building muscle.
Walking will be offered in the deep water only using a
flotation device such as a noodle or barbell. A perfect water
workout for non-swimmers! Fee payable to the Aquatic Staff
