UNIFIED ITF LEGACY WEEKEND
The late General Choi Hong Hi left behind a
remarkable legacy that has enriched millions of
Taekwon-Do practioners. The Unified International
Taekwon-Do Federation (Unified ITF), under
President, Grand Master K.S. Hwang, is dedicated
to preserving this legacy, adhering to the intentions
of the General by following The Encyclopedia of
Taekwon-Do.
The Unified ITF hosted its Second Annual Legacy
Weekend from April 8-10 in Hartford, CT. The
event coincides with the anniversary of the formal
adoption of Taekwon-Do by General Choi on April
11, 1955.
The event attracted Taekwon-Do practitioners from
over 20 different groups around the world. It
featured tul and sparring seminars by Grand Master
Hwang, general practice drills led by Mr. John
Karstadt, and a reception recognizing the members
of the Unified ITF community as well as recent
black belt promotions. The highlight of the
weekend was a live demonstration of sparring
technique by Grand Master Hwang.
During the banquet Master Phillip Obregon was
honored as Instructor of the Year for his
achievements in Taekwon-Do. Mr. Harry Hill was
the recipient of the Legacy Award for his
dedication to preserving the art of Taekwon-Do.
Hwang's School of Taekwon-Do – Jacksonville led
by chief instructor Aimee Sowder was recognized
as School of the Year. Master William Oulundsen
was promoted to VIII dan by Grand Master Hwang.
Legacy Weekend concluded with a Sunday brunch
where participants had a chance to talk to Grand
Master Hwang and reminisce about the weekend.

News, announcements and updates
The first stop on the Unified ITF World Tour was a
huge success in Corrientes, Argentina. Over 300
practitioners came together at Club Regatas Stadium
for the seminar, which will serve as the venue for the
2017 Unified ITF World Championships. Five
instructors were promoted to 7th dan becoming
masters and Unified ITF Vice President, Alberto
Letierre was promoted to 8th dan. Officials from the
city of Corrientes attended the seminar to show
support for next years tournament and their
dedication to hosting Unified ITF members from
around the world. #UnifiedWorldTour
Grand Master Hwang’s Summer Camp is back for
its 45th year from July 14-17 at Wolf’s Den in East
Haddam, CT. Details are available on the website
