creating a full size pattern]
MATERIALS:
1/2” FOLD OVER ELASTIC
LEATHER (WORKS BEST WITH LEATHER, FELT, JERSEY, VINYL AND SIMILAR)
INSTRUCTIONS :
cut one headband out of leather, felt, vinyl or other similar material.
you may use the pattern on the fold - or you may create a full
pattern piece by either tracing the mirror image, or printing a second
piece and taping them together.
cut a piece of 1/2” wide elastic to be 5.5” long.
(fold over or lingerie elastic works best). Sew the edges of the elastic
to the edges of the leather on the “wrong side”.
make sure the elastic is placed in the centre of the leather.
fold the headband in half length ways with the wrong sides together,
and stitch 1/4” from the raw edge.
open the edges along the seam, and fold the headband so that the
seamline now runs down the centre of the headband. The headband
will now have a slightly curved shape to it.
Sew 1/8” from the raw edge down edge down each folded edge.
