If I have any of the quilts in the wrong category, please let me know so I can correct this. Also PLEASE add your label to your beautiful quilts. If you do not have a label just attach your name and I will happy to add your label for you. I will also try very hard to check for labels when I receive your quilts so I can identify them during the meeting I am still trying to get response from VA about quilt delivery. Will keep you posted Thanks for all the beautiful work. If you’d like to go, email me and let me know. You can mail a check or I can invoice you through PayPal. The Board has received word that some in the guild would like to resume the Saturday Sew Days. This is a great idea, and we'll look at holding these at one of the local libraries, beginning in March. Registration for the NC Quilt Symposium is open. The 2016 event is being held at William Peace University in Raleigh, NC, on June 2-5. Check the website of the host guild, the Capital Quilters (www.capitalquilters.org) for schedules and forms. I hope all guild members came through the snow and ice safely and warmly. My library was closed that Friday, so I had an unexpected 3-day weekend, which I spent in my sewing room....snow day = sew day for me. How about you? 2nd Vice President - Donna Hunt Fat Quarter is striped fabric Program is by Joan Ford I would like every one with a February birthday to bring something for show and tell. It can be a new project, favorite quilt, or something you would like to share with the group. For Chair Persons turning in funds, please include a Receipt Voucher form detailing what the money is for. If you are requesting a refund, please include your receipt and a Reimbursement Request form. Please see me for the necessary forms. Thank you. Baby Quilt Coordinator - Mary Lou Dibling On January 21, Nancy Moore, Virgie Baxley and I delivered 22 quilts (6 boys, 4 girls, plus 2 sets of girl twins and 4 sets of boy twins) at the NICU. It is a pleasant day to see the tiny babies and hear all the thank you from parents and staff. If you would love to have a fun morning with us, come to the lobby of the hospital on Tuesday, February 23! We leave promptly at 9:30 to go to the NICU! I missed the January meeting, so I'll have to thank those who turned in quilts next month. We have only 32 quilts, plus a set of four, 3 sets of triplets and only one twin set left. WE NEED QUILTS!! WE NEED QUILTS!! Quilt Fest Chair - Irene Grimes The planning has started! We are shooting for a Spring 2017 event (depending on availability of the venue). Some of the committees need to be filled are: Ribbons - this committee makes the ribbons to be awarded at the Quilt Show Volunteer - recruits, organizes and schedules our volunteers Hanging Committee - will hang the show (this will happen on a Thursday evening) Take Down Committee - will take the quilts down (most likely on a Saturday evening, possibly on a Sunday) So, now for a name/theme for our Quilt Fest: Beth M. discovered that the guild started in 1987 (with legal formation in 1988) - this would make this year our 30th Anniversary. The traditional symbol is the pearl, the modern symbol is the diamond; also 2017 is the year of the “Rooster” and also the year of “New Ideas” so, how about suggesting a name? (send your suggestion to Irene) Membership Chair - Sonia Blue 2016 Membership Dues are now being accepted and if you paid your dues at the January 2016 meeting, please see Membership Chair Sonia Blue for your 2016 TQG Membership card. Concord, NC Ongoing - Quilt Trails of Western NC Upcoming Workshop - Everyone Loves a Good Mystery This spring, Aby Dolinger is offering an original mystery quilt design as a TQG workshop. Are you wondering what a mystery quilt is? Simply put, you will receive fabric and tool requirements and sewing clues for construction, but you will not see a picture of the finished quilt until the final clue. Admittedly, it's a little unnerving to commit time and fabric to a project of unknown outcome, but it's so much fun to see the design emerge as you follow step-by-step instructions. Are you game? A May workshop on Saturday is planned, and you will receive fabric requirements at the April TQG meeting and in the April TQG newsletter.
