A LIT TLE RAIN,
A SUCCESSFUL Winter show
By Gail VanDenLangenberg, Show Chair
Photos by Marie Murphy
WOW! Another year,
and we had another
great dog show!
Instead of snow, we
had some rain. Believe
me – I am not
complaining. We are
already looking
forward to next year,
with more ideas on
ways the show can be
improved upon.
for our lunch room and judges’ and trophy
tables for both days, and she also is there
on Thursday night to help set up the
grooming area.
Plus, after making sure all the judges are at
our show site on time to judge for the day,
Pat also helps steward in any ring in which
Kim needs help.
Trophies – Renee and Catherine Hoelzel
Renee and Catherine manned the trophy
table this year. In addition to selling
catalogs and handing out trophies, they
got to answer questions all day long. They
both agreed it was never dull.
I would like to thank all of our club
members who came out and volunteered
to help make the day so successful.
- continued on page 4
Assistant Show Chair – Pat Erickson
Pat does Hospitality for the judges both
days, and this is a big job that she does
well. She takes care of getting the flowers

Membership Meeting Minutes – January 3, 2013
Meeting was called to order.
January 12, so he and Patty can get a break. If you can help,
talk with him after the meeting.
Secretary’s Report
December’s membership meeting minutes were approved
as published in the newsletter. December’s board meeting
minutes were read.
Treasurer’s Report
The December and year-end financial reports were given.
President’s Report
None.
Membership
Prospective new members were introduced and welcomed.
Paul Thiel said a 50/50 raffle will be held, with the drawing
shortly after the meeting.
Nursing Homes
Pam Siebert said she is always
looking for more members
that are interested in visiting
nursing homes. You must be
an approved club member,
and your dog must be at least
one year old and have passed
the CGC test. But most
importantly, you must meet
with Pam prior to a visit
because she must first
approve your dog.
Traveling Trophies
Laura Steidl said she is begging for somebody to apply for
the Mary Strange Conformation Award. The recipient needs
to be a novice owner handler for the wins submitted. More
detailed information is in the newsletter. She would love to
have a winner for this trophy.
Appreciation Dinner
Becky Reider said our dinner is Saturday, February 2. She
would love to have lots of members attend. A great time
can be had by all who attend, so sign up now and come and
join the party. The reservation form is in the newsletter.
Appreciation Dinner/Awards
Julie Siefert said she also needs to receive the information
on the titles you earned. Get the information to her very
soon because time is running out.
First Aid/Winter Show
Len Hoehne asked for help at the winter show coming up on
Canine CPR and First Aid Class
Len also mentioned that he is planning to teach another
Canine CPR and First Aid Class at the club on Saturday,
January 26, but it depends on how many sign-ups he gets.
He needs at least 10 people to hold a class, so sign up now.
The classes teach you what to do in case of an emergency.
The goal is to keep your pet alive until you can get to a vet.
Talk with Len if you have any questions.
Winter Show
Gail VanDenLangenberg said our entries are UP from the
previous year, and this is great news! She also said that she
has the entry counts by breeds. If anyone is interested, talk
with her after the meeting.
Agility
Nancy Zolkowski said our August agility trial will be held at
the Oshkosh Kennel Club’s building because then we won’t
have to worry about the weather. OKC also installed some
brand new matting, and it is working out just great for
running dogs in agility.
Boutique
Christina Burhans said to keep your eye on our boutique.
We have some new items arriving soon, including training
shirts.
Spring Show
Gail VanDenLangenberg said if you are interested in offering
a trophy for the spring show to talk with her after the
meeting. The deadline to get this information in is this
Saturday.
Wall Title Plaques
Gail VanDenLangenberg also brought up that it is that time
of the year. While you are gathering up your AKC title
information, keep in mind the information should also be
sent to Gail if you would like your name and dog’s name
listed on our title plaques.

Membership meeting minutes
Old Business
None.
New Business
A question was raised from the floor
regarding the club awards that are given
at our Appreciation Dinner: why isn’t
anything given for Agility? The answer is
because no one has yet come up with a
good set of rules to set up the award.
Laura Steidl mentioned that the wins all
have to be confirmed with AKC, and the
award would only use AKC Agility wins.
( cont’d from page 2)
The go ahead was given to anyone who
would be willing to work on this and
then present it to the board and Laura
Steidl to review and approve.
Membership Dues/Elections
Treasurer Marie Murphy read the names
of members who had not yet paid their
2013 dues. Time was allowed for any
members present to pay dues for
anyone on the list if they chose to do so.
Secretary Gail VanDenLangenberg then
cast a unanimous vote for all unopposed
officer and board positions:
President: Don “Stan” Stanislawski
Vice President: Tom Wiesler
Treasurer: Marie Murphy
Secretary: Gail VanDenLangenberg
Board Member: Gayle Kukulka
The vote was approved.
Cry and brag was conducted.
Motion made and approved to adjourn.
Respectfully Submitted,
Gail VanDenLangenberg, Secretary

Chief Ring Steward – Kim Polasek
Kim again did a fantastic job of taking on
this big task. Finding people who are
willing to steward isn’t always easy, but
she pulled it off and did great. Kim was a
little under the weather this year, but
she came and did wonderful work all day
in spite of it.
Gate – Tom Wiesler
Tom had a great crew at the gate. Gail
Anthony and Nancy Zolkowski did a
fantastic job taking in money and selling
catalogs. It’s not easy doing this outside
in January, and I am so glad that they
were all willing to do this job.
Lunch (Judges/Workers) –
Lori Piette and Becky Reider
Lori and Becky once again did a fabulous
job feeding our judges and workers the
day of our show. Many compliments
were received.
Grooming Area – Carol Busey
Carol does a great job helping set up the
grooming area and then keeping it in
order for both show days. This is a really
big job, and she does it very well!
Concession Stand – Mary McEssey
For those quiet heroes who kept the
exhibitors and spectators fed and
content: thank you very, very much!
To view more show
photos, visit
the WDC web site
Your work is one of the important details
that makes a big difference in a show’s
success.
First Aid Table – Len and Patty Hoehne
Len and Patty were at our first aid table
all day, and it was really appreciated.
We keep our fingers crossed that no help
will be needed, but I am thankful these
two are there just in case.
Again, THANK YOU to all of our
volunteers. You helped make our show
the great success that it was!
Hope to see you all next year!

A current Yard Permit is required to use the club’s front and back fenced yards. The permits change yearly.
The 2013 Yard Permits are navy blue. ALL CLUB MEMBERS MUST HAVE NEW PERMITS BY MAY 1.
Please discard your red 2012 permit and place the new navy blue permit in the clear plastic pocket
hanger. Hang it from your rearview mirror while using the yard. If you bike or walk to the club,
carry the permit with you.
Please keep the pocket hanger for future use.
Household Memberships may have two FREE permits. Single memberships may have one FREE
permit. Extra permits are $1 each, and extra plastic hangers are $2 each. If your permit is damaged
or stolen, replacement permits can be obtained for a $3 fee ($1 for permit and $2 for hanger).
If you get a new license plate number, you will need to get a new permit.
We need your help – please help enforce the yard-use policy! Look at the yard users’ cars to make
sure a current yard permit is displayed. If someone using the yard doesn’t have a permit, please
courteously ask them if they are WDC members. If they are not members, tell them the yards are
for MEMBERS ONLY and tell them how they can become a WDC member. If someone is abusing the
posted rules, give the license plate number and complaint to any board member or Linda Allen.
Feedback/concerns/suggestions … contact Linda Allen or any board member.
To obtain a yard permit, complete the application below and bring with you to the membership meeting, where Linda
or Michael Allen will be on hand to distribute permits, or mail the completed application with a stamped, self-addressed
#10 envelope to Linda at the address on the form.
Please review and adhere to the yard rules on the last page of this newsletter

2013 Yard Permits Available –
bring completed application with
you to the meeting (see page 8)
WINNEGAMIE DOG CLUB, INC.
RULES FOR YARD USAGE
 One of the benefits of club membership is the use of the yard to run your dogs. Therefore, you must be an APPROVED
CLUB MEMBER to enjoy it.
 To identify you to other club members, you MUST have a yard permit hanging from your vehicle’s rear view mirror. This
can be obtained from WDC’s Yard Permit Chairperson after you are an approved member. If you walk or bicycle to the
club, carry the yard permit with you. Club members who see a vehicle without a permit are instructed to call the Menasha
Police Department.
 Picking up after your dog(s) is VERY IMPORTANT. As you're doing so, don’t hesitate to pick
up any waste that is missed by someone else. Most likely you enjoy how clean the yard is,
and it can only be kept that way through a joint effort from all of us.
 If someone else is using the yard when you arrive, be sure to ASK PERMISSION to bring
your dog(s) in. Not every dog wants playmates.
 If you are using the yard and choose to let your dog(s) play without new playmates, please
be aware there is a 15 MINUTE TIME LIMIT from the time the next person arrives. If no
one is waiting, feel free to use the yard as long as you like.
 For the safety of the dogs and people, please do not use LONG LINES on dogs and refrain from using PRONG COLLARS when
dogs are playing with each other.
 If the training center is rented out for a day or weekend, the yard will be closed, since BUILDING RENTAL also INCLUDES the
exclusive use of the YARD. Dates will be posted before the event in the newsletter and/or on the bulletin board by the yard.
 Please refrain from using the yard when classes are in session due to the distractions it can cause.
 Occasionally the yard is SATURATED WITH WATER, and dogs running and playing will tear up the lawn and could injure
themselves. During these times (usually in the spring), the yard will be closed. The closure will be posted on the bulletin
board near the entrance and on the website.
 By adhering to these rules, we can all be assured that the yard will continue to be a place where we can enjoy some active
time with our best friends.
