The International Youth Foundation (IYF) has supported VETA with two
motor vehicles to be used for training at VETA centres.
Handing over the vehicles to the Ag.Regional Director VETA-Dar es
Salaam Zone Mrs. Bernadeta Ndunguru earlier today, the IYF Project
Director Ms. Sarah Shebele said that the support aims at strengthening
the provision of vocational training.
IYF works with VETA in a project namely Tanzania Youth Scholars
Project (TYS) scheduled between 2011 -2016 which aims at
empowering vulnerable youth through vocational training.
The project has so far benefited 840 vulnerable youth who attended
short and long courses at five VETA-centres of Dar es Salaam, Mwanza,
Kigoma, Tanga and Mtwara.
According to Ms. Shebele, the project will be extended to Mbeya and
Ruvuma in the next couple of months to enable more youth to acquire
vocational skills in various fields.
On her side, Mrs. Ndunguru expressed appreciation for the support on
behalf of the VETA –Director General saying that the vehicles would be
used effectively to ensure more youth obtain motor vehicle and driving
skills.
