We do not provide Airport Pick-up. Students should use
public transports.
From Confins Airport (Belo Horizonte) to Ouro Preto
campus is a 2 and a half hours drive. Confins Airport is
close to the capital centre. So if you choose to go by bus
it takes around 50 to 60 minutes to get there (R$ 14,00)
also 2 hours to get to Ouro Preto (R$35,00).

HOUSING
The UFOP students have the chance to experience a
unique housing situation, unlike any other part of Brazil.
They are called Repúblicas, and are either Federal or
Private. CAINT helps the student find a república to live in.

Federal Repúblicas are apartments that the University
provides for student housing. In Ouro Preto there are 70
repúblicas. They are located around the Morro do Cruzeiro
campus and are spread out among the historic center of
Ouro Preto. The average price is about R$250.00 per
month.

TUITION FEES:
UFOP is a free university of Brazil.
GRADING SYSTEM:
We have adopted a 10 scale and the university’s currently
passing mark is 6.0 together with an attendance of at
least 75% of the academic activities.
THE FOREIGNER IDENTITY CARD:
Documents necessary for Regularization:
Passport;
Copy of every page in passport (including the original
visa request form);
Two 3 x 4 recent color photos with white background;
Receipts of paid fees.
TIME ZONES IN BRAZIL
In Ouro Preto, the time zone is the same as Brazil’s capital,
Brasília: GMT -3h.
COST OF LIVING IN OURO PRETO

*”PF” is an abbreviation for “Prato Feito.” In Brazil, there are
many restaurants that serve a standard meal (generally
rice, beans, salad, meat and a side) for a set price.
