FIND YOUR NORTH STAR!
FIND YOUR NORTH STAR!
There is a full universe of possibilities at the command of your
choosing. The "Pathway 90 Day course to your better life" uses
the metaphor of the North Star as a way to illustrate how
focusing your attention on a specific destination can change
the results you experience. It is possible; now is the time!
We urge you to seize this opportunity! Welcome to the
Pathway community!
WHAT IS YOUR NORTH STAR?
Successful entrepreneurs know what makes them get out of bed
in the morning. They know what drives them to take the risks
they take and to experience the results they create. They know
what makes the journey, with its ups and downs and difficulties
and surprises, worth the effort.
They know what their North Star is.
Your North Star isn’t a goal, accomplishment or destination. Your
North Star is the guiding principle you abide by for the goals,
accomplishments and destinations you choose to pursue.
It can be called your “words to live by” or “what you believe in”.
It can be any of an infinite number of things: being of service to
others, living a life with no regrets, being a risk-taker, being of
influence to the lives of children, assisting those in need, being
the best you can be, helping the elderly, connecting on a deep
level with those around you, living peacefully in harmony with
the planet, creating a green-friendly world—the list is endless.
There are many ways to take the path in the direction of your
North Star. You can be of service to others in many different ways:
feeding the homeless, tutoring high school kids, teaching those
who can’t how to read, house-sitting for a friend, carpooling,
blogging, contributing your time and money to a charity you
support, or sharing a meal with a shut-in. All of these activities
lead to the same North Star: being of service to others.
1

DEPARTURE ONE
Finding your North Star is a wonderful thing. When you’ve
chosen what your North Star is for you, it can serve as a stable
life principle as you make choices for what you wish to do with
your time.
Most importantly, your North Star can become a major source of
peace, happiness, satisfaction and purpose for your life. In many
instances, finding your North Star can be a major life-changing
event. It can provide meaningful direction for the rest of your life.
LEAVING THE HERD!
We all know what it is like to be a part of the herd mentality.
It is comfortable and easy to think and behave like everyone
else you come in contact with. Live the same lifestyle; wear
similar clothes; participate in the same activities; think the same
thoughts; hold the same religious or political views; or support
the same sports teams. And while this can create a feeling of
security and belonging, it comes at a terrible price.
The cost is your individuality.
You are a unique person with unique talents. You have something to offer the universe that no one else can offer. Importantly,
you can create a unique purpose that will manifest itself in ways
only you can create. And critically, you will never be happy unless
you discover this purpose and pursue its creation. This is the
secret to a happy and fulfilling life.
This doesn’t exist in the herd. A wise man once said, “The purpose of the herd is to keep you in the herd.” The herd suppresses
individuality for sameness, thwarts creativity for familiarity and
attacks difference as if it were its enemy.
Pathway is about leaving the herd behind to walk your own
path of fulfillment and happiness.
NAVIGATING YOUR UNIVERSE!
NAVIGATING YOUR UNIVERSE!
As you move forward through the Pathway course, you will
discover the curriculum is cumulative. It builds upon itself.
Each level you complete gives you valuable skills and experiences that are useful for successfully completing the next level.
It is as if, after you have chosen your North Star, you will find
other stars that serve as guideposts along your journey as you
move forward. You have already experienced the freedom to
Know For Yourself. This valuable insight will continue to serve
you as long as it remains at the center of your thinking and
knowing process.
With Departure, you will continue the procedure of owning your
universe and learning to navigate it in whatever direction you
choose. This can be a very exciting time for you in your life. The
opportunity is one you have created; it is remarkable. Please
take full advantage of it!
We encourage you to put as much time, effort and thought as
possible into this curriculum. We suggest you finish all of the
levels of the Pathway course. Each new skill you practice and
master can create a profound difference in your life.
Breakthroughs and accomplishments often come at
unexpected times and in surprising combinations, so the more
you practice the material, the more opportunity for fantastic
results in your life.

DEPARTURE ONE
WHAT IS AN ENTREPRENEUR?
A common definition of an entrepreneur is any person who
organizes and manages any enterprise, usually with considerable initiative and risk. History is rich with countless examples of
entrepreneurs in all areas of endeavor, personal and professional.
Look around you. Literally everything you see, everything that
has been created is the result of the efforts of an entrepreneur;
every product, building and physical manifestation that surrounds you, what you’re sitting in, the refrigerator that keeps
your food fresh and the oven that cooks it, the television you
watch, as well as the media that entertains you.
EXERCISE:
Take a walk around your house, apartment or neighborhood.
As you do, look at everything you encounter that has been
created by an entrepreneur.
Try to think about the process that person (or people) must
have gone through to create what you are seeing. What risks?
What faith in their own accomplishment?
What relationships must they have forged to assist their
efforts?
What roadblocks and speed bumps they might have encountered? How steep was their road? Or, perhaps, how smooth?
Does it appear that they had a singular, original idea or might
it have been a combination of several ideas they forged into
a new creation?
Now move onto the next thing you encounter and repeat
this thinking exercise. Everything began as an idea!
Please make a mental note of how prevalent it is that someone,
at some time, has taken on the responsibility and risks of their
dreams to create what is in front of you. This creative urge, which
is at the heart of everything you see, is also in you! The ability to
be equally successful and create what you want is also!
WHAT IS AN ENTREPRENEUR?
EXERCISE:
Take another walk in an area populated by people: a park, a
popular neighborhood, a mall, a movie theatre, a church or
some other gathering place.
Use the same powers of observation you practiced previously,
but this time look at the lives that pass you. Be careful not
to judge, just observe.
Do those you encounter appear agitated or at peace?
Are they in relationships or alone? If with others, how do
they interact?
How do they carry themselves? How do they dress? What is
your initial impression?
As you watch, become aware of how everything you see
being played out in these lives is a product of the choices
and creation of the people living those lives.
Think of each of these individuals as an entrepreneur responsible for their daily lives, relationships, family, friends and
love lives.
Begin to realize that the daily experiences each individual
encounters are, to a great degree, due to the initiative and
risks they take at the personal level.
A common misconception is that being an entrepreneur is only
about career, business and finances. While that certainly is a large
part of life’s opportunity and challenge, it is only a small part
of where you can apply your focus as an entrepreneur. It can
also be in the areas of Relationships, Family, Spirituality, Friends,
Love Life, Health, or any combination including other areas in
your life that are important to you.
The Pathway curriculum is designed to help you become an
effective and satisfied entrepreneur for whatever areas of your
life you choose.
This can take unlimited shape or form. It is completely up to you.

THESE PRINCIPLES WORK
The Pathway 90 Day course you have chosen was developed
after a distinctive method was discovered by which individuals
are able to achieve entrepreneurial success in their lives—
levels of success you may not have considered as a real possibility before now. It is a combination of methodologies,
exercises, tips and processes that are designed to bring about
remarkable insight and changes. As you follow this course and
implement its techniques, you can expect the following:
r You will see how you can do something you never thought
possible before.
r You will have an increased feeling of personal control as
you begin to understand, modify and ultimately master
the results you get in your life.
r You will experience an awareness of new possibilities
and new choices as you discover new ways to approach
common or sometimes perplexing situations in your
life. As you examine these situations and explore new
choices, you will find new possibilities will automatically
be available to you.
r You will gain the knowledge that you can expand beyond
what you currently see as your options. Your situations
will be seen in a new perspective and your capabilities
will expand. You will learn ways to accomplish things that,
as of now, haven’t been achieved, either by doing these
things yourself or enlisting the help of others.
r You will know you can have it. As your results begin to
change, your confidence in your abilities to create what
you want in your life will increase. You can truly know
you can create whatever you choose to have in your life.
r You will know you can accomplish your dreams. The
Pathway course is designed for you to apply the tools
specifically to your own life, goals and dreams. As an
entrepreneur, you can expect these things to manifest in
your life to the degree that you apply what you learn.
13
THE GUIDEBOOK
THE GUIDEBOOK
The Pathway program Guidebook is designed to take you
through each course of the curriculum in ascending order. It is
cumulative, with each new concept, methodology or exercise
building on prior information.
As you engage this process, you will see symbols in the margins
of the Guidebook. These include bits of information that are
helpful additions to the basics of the program:
TIPS:
Additional information that enhances the experience.
These may be short cuts, helpful additional bits of information, enhancements or otherwise useful complements
to that specific portion of information.
BEWARE:
What to watch out for, common mistakes or experiences
that may be problematic and can be avoided. Take note
of these as they can help keep you on track and help you
avoid unnecessary detours or pitfalls.
GO DEEPER:
Extra personal work, techniques or practices that are
designed to give you a deeper experience. These may
take extra time, but are well worth the effort and additional
benefits.
STOP AND THINK:
Take time to stop and think and maybe jot down a couple
of notes. What ideas or thoughts does this concept bring
up for you?
In addition, you will also find inspirational quotes from entrepreneurs throughout history that reflect personal experiences,
sometimes in very few words, of the concepts we are exploring.
!
14
DEPARTURE ONE
Please contemplate these, write down ones that are of special
meaning to you, and carry them with you in your mobile
phone app Pathway Pad. Allow them to serve as a source of
inspiration throughout this process.
While you use each Guidebook, please do so in the spirit that
you’re having fun creating the life experiences and results you
choose. Allow this process to be light, energetic, exciting, and
invigorating. In this way, the journey itself will be a pleasant
experience—which is one of the incredible improvements you
can bring to your life.
YOUR JOURNAL
It has been long understood that the act of writing down
thoughts, feelings, goals and dreams is an important part of integrating awareness into your life. As you take the additional step
of writing things down, they become more deeply engrained
into your experience, and therefore a greater part of your life.
Use your Journal as a written record of the journey you are
about to take. Use it to be specific about your North Star, and
write down your feelings and experiences along the way. This
will allow for new insights and perspective as you make sense
of the changes that are happening.
Then, periodically, go back and read what you’ve written. You
may be surprised at the progress you’ve made, how your thinking has changed or the new perspective you now have. You
may see patterns or experiences that are repeated over and
over. Awareness of this can help you break cycles in your life
that haven’t served you well.
It is your Journal. Keep it private and use it. It is included to help.
GO DEEPER:
Cut out and tape pictures that represent your feelings into
your journal. You may find this takes your journaling to a
deeper, more meaningful level.
YOUR PATHWAY PAD
15
YOUR PATHWAY PAD
Becoming an entrepreneur means becoming acutely aware of
the cause and effect relationship between the beliefs that you
have, the choices that you make and the results you get—and
journaling is the process used to come off of your habits and
routines and start to gain personal responsibility over how you
conduct your life as you experience it.
Writing down things at the moment they occur is very instructive.
Waiting hours, or even minutes, to jot down a feeling, a realization or an idea tends to lose the clarity of the initial event. And,
again, the process of writing is a tactile act that assists in the
processing of information.
To help facilitate this, we have created a mobile phone Pathway
Pads app. The Pathway Pad’s purpose is to be your constant
companion as you process the Departure course material.
Download the app and carry it with you and use it often. Refer
to it to see if you have recurring ideas or patterns of thought
that you’ve not realized before. These realizations are the
foundation for breakthroughs in your life.
The more you use your Pathway Pad the more valuable you
will f i nd it is to your success.
THE PULL OF YOUR NORTH STAR!
The more clearly you begin to see and focus on your North
Star, the more quickly you will begin to experience some of
the magic the universe has to offer. Keep your eyes and mind
open to expect situations and opportunities to present themselves that can help you along your way. You will actually attract
people, situations, experiences, and circumstances in different
and surprising combinations that may be exactly what you need
to move toward your North Star.
We call this the Pull of Your North Star.
This is, quite literally, the appearance of opportunities and adversities that you bring toward yourself in direct alignment with
Do not believe in anything simply
because you have heard it.
Do not believe in anything simply
because it is spoken and rumored
by many.
Do not believe in anything simply

your goals and dreams. Every goal, every dream, every destination or accomplishment brings with it the risks and rewards
or the opportunities and adversities associated with it. As you
steadfastly hold your North Star in your mind and depart in its
direction, you will experience the Pull of Your North Star naturally
and automatically.
Expect it as confirmation you are on your way!
TIP:
Saying to yourself “What I want is . . .” repeatedly throughout the day will be helpful in revealing the direction you
would like your life to be heading. Listen to the answers
that come up and enter them in your Pathway Pad.
THE ROAD AHEAD
You are joining a wonderful new community of like-minded,
success-oriented and happy individuals who are serious about
creating what they desire in their lives. You will learn how to be
at cause in creating a world you enjoy being a part of, rather
than merely scrape by. You will learn to create a foundation
to help you escape from being at the effect of other people,
money, the economy, and similar common situations because
you will have the tools to be totally effective in the real world.
You will depart on a life’s adventure unlike any other you’ve
experienced.
A STAR IS BORN!
It is as if your life is a star newly born. No matter what your age
or experience, you can start anew right now. You are going to
learn how to create a supportive universe for you to burn brightly
with the potential inside of you.
Creating the life you want will be most effective if it is a fun
experience. Following this Pathway course and enjoying
positive changes in your life need not be a long and tedious, or
painful process. It can, and in fact should be, a blast!
!
18
DEPARTURE ONE
So relax. Feel the energetic lightness of a future worth creating.
Think about how brightly your star will burn! Let your dreams
surface and take their right place directing your life!
BEWARE:
It can be common to feel pressure about having the “right”
dreams or goals. Be sure the direction you choose fits your
ideal future and no one else’s.
You deserve a wonderful life of abundance in all areas! Let’s
begin creating that together!
EXERCISE:
Today is a great day. Mark your celebration by doing something to remember as the first day of your Departure!
Sky dive. Buy a token of your commitment. Rent a safe deposit
box for five years, pay in advance and write a contract to
yourself stating your mission, and the fact that you will not
be denied. Do something wild or fun you’ve been putting
off forever.
Set an alarm on your computer to go off on this date in the
future so you can celebrate your anniversary.
Take a picture of yourself doing this and make it your screensaver, put it on your cell phone, frame it and place it on your
nightstand, or hang it in your office.
Today, you are your own best friend, and you’re working
together with yourself to make your life better!
CHANGE CAN BE GREAT!
In Departure we are looking to bring about awareness and
changes in the core of your being. This includes your belief
system, thoughts, choices, actions and the results that come
about from this ongoing life process.
CHANGE CAN BE GREAT!
When you initiate changes at this level of your being, even subtle
shifts can have dramatic effects on your life. This happens in the
same way that vibrations at the foundation of a large building
create increasingly large ripples as the energy moves through
its structure. Your new ways of thinking, believing, acting and
choosing will cause ripples that will create a new life for you.
STOP AND THINK:
In what areas of your life have you successfully committed
to something and been satisfied with the results?
In Departure we aren’t necessarily looking for huge changes,
although this certainly is possible. Subtle shifts in understanding
and action will be enough. You will find insights along the way
that can positively affect how you deal with all aspects in your
life, and how this ultimately shows up in your life experience.
Remember to keep it light. At the completion of the Pathway
course you can expect to have a different perspective and be a
different person than you are right now in ways that can serve
you throughout the remainder of your life.
EXERCISE:
Download your Pathway Pad app if you haven't done so. Fi
nd a comfortable place to keep it with you. This can be a
pocket or a purse, or anywhere with constant access to it.
Make a commitment to have it handy at all times and use
it to write down thoughts, comments, reactions, feelings,
emotions, wins, and anything that is of importance to you
during your Departure course experience.
Take a moment to contemplate what this commitment means
to you. Jot down your exact expectations for this course, and
what you want to create as a result.
This is an exciting moment. Be kind to yourself. Take care of
yourself. Work to support yourself. You deserve it.
19
20
DEPARTURE ONE
YOU ARE HERE!
It has been said many times that life is a journey. Certainly, there
is a lot of truth to that metaphor. Life’s events, choices, occurrences, accidents and accomplishments come and go as time
passes, seemingly in constant motion. Where the metaphor falls
short, however, is that usually when you’re on a journey you have
a definite destination in mind. It’s where you want to go. And
often, if not always, you compare where you are with where you
want to finally end up. It is in this way that we eventually arrive
at countless destinations as we go through our day.
Wouldn’t it be helpful if you have the same clarity of destination
to direct your life?
EXERCISE:
In your Journal, draw a map of your world. Make it a landscape
of your reality.
Draw out physical areas that have different customs and
culture.
What kind of emotional weather is in your map?
How quickly can you travel from place to place on your map?
Include the places you have spent some time, and places
you would like to go.
The reality is that in the real world you will not need to go
anywhere, you can just start to bring that world to you one
piece at a time!
For many people, the frustration they feel in their life is exactly
this lack of knowledge of their life’s destination or purpose.
They don’t know it, of course. This can be evidenced by their
lack of goals, lack of focus on what they ultimately want in life,
ignorance of what they really and truly desire, or basic confusion
of where their life is and where it is currently headed. They can’t
seem to get to the sights they have heard about and so they
are frustrated; and they can never see the sights that are just
over the next horizon.
YOU ARE HERE!
As human beings on this planet, we are all born into a system
of change: time passes beneath our lives whether we choose
it to, or not. We are not given the option to remain unaffected
by events throughout our day: we wake up, we get hungry, we
eat, we move from one place to the next, we process countless
thoughts throughout the day, we act through countless actions
and activities, and eventually we get tired and we sleep. It is
an integral cycle and process in our lives that never ends. So,
it is little wonder that we can become very frustrated, anxious,
unsettled or unhappy if we don’t make an effort to navigate
and direct this naturally occurring process for our good and
the good of others.
EXERCISE:
Make a note of how you feel when you think of change.
How does the word make you feel? Where do you feel it in
your body?
Do you find change comfortable? If not, try to pinpoint why
not?
What would have to shift in your thinking for you to feel like
change is your friend?
Are you willing to risk change to pursue your North Star?
Too often people fight change because they fear the unknown.
But for those who are unhappy or unfulfilled in their lives, change
is the only way out. Change is a friend and ally. It is very important
to realize this and become comfortable with it.
BEWARE:
As you become comfortable with change, you will often
meet resistance from those close to you. Being aware of
this makes it easier to recognize.
One of the first challenges is to become the change, or at least
try to keep up with the change. Not resist the change. Become
the cause of change or at least allow yourself to be at the effect
21
22
DEPARTURE ONE
of change for the time being. The important concept here is to
understand and embrace that change is necessary for shifts to
take place in your life.
EXERCISE:
For the next 7 days write down exactly how you feel, and
what your reaction is, to encountering change during your
daily experience. Use your Pathway Pad so you can write
down what you feel right when it happens.
What do you do initially? Resist? Roll over or allow yourself
to be steamrolled?
We all have habits we have developed. What is your habit
when you encounter change?
“People are always blaming their
circumstances for what they are.
I don’t believe in circumstances.
The people who get on in this
world are the people who get up
and look for the circumstances
they want, and, if they can’t find
them, make them.”
George Bernard Shaw
Our emotions are signposts as to how we see ourselves at any
given point in time. They provide clues about how we feel
about where we are in our life. They are, in reality, an inner
manifestation of how closely we are acting in alignment with
our purpose. Our inner self gives us feedback of what we think
of ourselves in the manner of emotions. The more in line we
are with our North Star, the more satisfied our emotional state.
Understanding this, we can use this awareness to help us make
choices that keep us on target.
PLAY TO WIN!
One easy way to get us out of unpleasant emotional states is
to play.
The act of play is freeing and rejuvenating!
!
TIP:
Time passes effortlessly when we are deeply in play. Look
for signs that time seems to fly by for you when you engage
in a playful activity.
PLAY TO WIN!
When we are playing we are enjoying the present moment.
When we are in the present moment, we gain access to an
energy and satisfaction not available at any other time.
EXERCISE:
Playing is an important part of life’s enjoyment. The ability
to keep things light and fun is an important life skill.
Take one afternoon and decide to play. For the entire afternoon make a conscious decision to only play and keep things
light. If you are working, make this an afternoon on the weekend. Put away the phone or anything that will interrupt your
playtime. Set yourself up so that outside influences cannot
affect this time.
Cast aside every concern. Enjoy yourself thoroughly. Do
whatever is fun play for you. Play cards. Go shopping. Write
a poem. Ride a motorcycle. Join a pick-up basketball game.
Walk on the beach. Read a book.
Play. Give yourself the gift of time and enjoy every minute
of it.
Then jot down in your Journal what you feel like after your
playtime has ended. How is your energy level? Your personal
satisfaction? Your emotional state? Are there ways to integrate
this activity into your life routine?
If you schedule playtime regularly, how might it affect how
you feel about your life?
In Pathway, creating the life you want follows powerful principles and works best with bold decision making. Whether
you’re moving in a new direction just to see what happens next,
or with a specific plan in mind, much of your success will
depend on charting a course toward an ideal instead of trying
to hold static and resisting against change. Ignoring or
avoiding any difficult condition of life can, at best, bring about
temporary relief from this permanent condition. To be human
is to always be within experience—to avoid this eventually
leads to frustration, pain, unhappiness and suf f ering.

DEPARTURE ONE
EXERCISE:
Imagine you are standing with a compass in your hand. The
direction you choose will determine the destination you will
arrive at some time in the future.
What are the two or three words that sum up the way you
choose what direction to head?
What place does safety hold in your decision-making? Or
risk? Where do you look for answers or advice, or do you trust
your own instincts? In what ways can Knowing For Yourself
provide guidance with choosing your direction?
This is another way to live, learn, explore and experience. This
new way is a process of learning to embrace the constant swirling
of experiences surrounding your life and, using certain proven
techniques and methodologies, begin to channel them down a
certain path. This is your path, toward your chosen destination,
that takes you in the direction of happiness and contentment,
while enjoying the things you’ve created as part of this process.
This simple process of setting and following your Compass
Heading seems to bring about a powerful shift in the way a
person experiences life.
EXERCISE:
Revisit the map of your world you just created.
Draw a path from your current location to your preferred
destination.
What kind of emotional weather is in this new destination?
How quickly can you travel from place to place on your map?
How do you feel in your new destination?
Make a dotted line from your current location to your chosen
destination, and write on that line:
“MY NEW LIFE”.
YOUR COMPASS HEADING!
YOUR COMPASS HEADING!
A major realization for anyone who leads a satisfying life is that
life really and truly goes on uninterrupted whether you are conscious
of it or not. And, almost miraculously, meaningful things begin
to happen when you make the choice and follow through with
actions that are in line with what you really want in life.
This is your Compass Heading.
GO DEEPER:
Purchase a small compass and take an unstructured walk
following its direction heading. Keep it with any Pathway
course materials you accumulate.
Your Compass Heading is 3-4 words you live by—“Take a risk”,
“Do the right thing”, “Play it safe”, “Seek agreement with others”,
“Hard work pays off”, “Know for yourself”. The path you take
and the results you create are dramatically influenced by your
Compass Heading. Depending on what you choose, you can
be launched forward in your life or held back. For example, the
Compass Heading “Take a risk” will consistently produce different
results than the heading “Never risk anything”.
Choose your Compass Heading carefully and honestly. It can
either be a fantastic support or an impediment to achieving
your entrepreneurial goals.
So, if you find yourself bewildered about the results you are
getting in your life, look closely at your Compass Heading.
Choose a heading that supports your North Star. Then begin
the process of relating every thought and decision you make
against this Compass Heading. You will soon find interesting
things happening.
Things begin to line up and opportunities appear in your life,
along with their companion adversities, and you are suddenly,
quickly on the right road to making your life work in line with
how you envision.
27
Your Compass Heading
YOUR COMPASS HEADING!
The good news is that, in the midst of all of life change, the
one constant in your life is you. You are the one who is directly
in the middle of your experience. As a matter of fact, you can’t
escape it if you try, although there are many different techniques
humans have come up with to try and avoid these experiences
(self-medication with drugs and alcohol, distractive choices and
actions, or almost any activity that is designed to keep you from
being aware of what is happening to you right now—trying to
keep you out of the game). In fact, drugs and other avoidance
strategies are simply an attempt to control a more favorable
effect in your life, as if by doing this you are saying, “If I’m going
to be at the effect of something, I might as well choose the
effect I am going to be!”
STOP AND THINK:
In what areas of your life have you caused exactly what you
wanted to happen to occur? There are many examples, as
simple as brushing your teeth or going to the store. How
often is what you want actually caused by you in your life?
The true reality is that you will never find happiness by being at
the ef f ect of things in your life.
Another fascinating and enjoyable part of this process is that
as you become clear in your mind about what your Compass
Heading is, it becomes easier to see others who are on the same
path and have chosen the same coordinates. In fact, they need
not share your destination, but only be parallel on your path,
to be helpful for you. In this way you can learn many lessons
or become inspired from those who have become successful
in parts of their lives that you admire, even though their life
situation or experience may be very different from yours.
Finding those with congruent Compass Headings is a critical
aspect of choosing and maintaining your Compass Heading. So
jump in; participating fully in this process is fun and necessary
as you identify and submit to your North Star’s influence.

DEPARTURE ONE
EXERCISE:
The purpose of this Exercise is to identify what aspects of
your life are on your Compass Heading.
Make a list of the areas that make up your game of life.
Examples of areas are family, health, finances, relationships,
marriage, goals and dreams, career, etc.
Alongside each area, write the percentage you feel represents
your level of engagement; 100% means you are fully engaged;
0% means you are not engaged at all.
Are there areas that you would like the engagement percentage to change?
Which? More engagement or less?
Are there areas that are clearly heading in a direction different
from your Compass Heading?
This need not be painful or arduous. But it is a process, with
benchmarks and signposts along the way. This Pathway
course will teach you what these are, how to look for them,
and what to do next to keep on the right road to abundance,
happiness and achievement.
Allow this to unfold over time, not as a single event.
!
TIP:
Take your time and be patient with yourself. Reward yourself often for sticking with it. The more you do this the
more you will enjoy this process.
It’s as if you have been standing at the sidelines of a game you
have been observing, and you walk up and tap the coach on the
shoulder, and say “I’m ready to play.” And you are immediately
put into the game. The reality is that you are the Coach of your
own life, and you’ve put yourself in the game by choosing to
participate in this course!
Your Compass Heading!
This game is your special life that is unique to you only. It is a
life of success, happiness, abundance, joy, peace and exciting
adventures.
EXERCISE:
Why it is important for people to have different Compass
Headings? Write down reasons why this is ideal.
Can you see how many destinations can be along the path
of the same North Star?
Can you see how many different North Stars can make up
a universe?
Take a day and write down all of the different North Stars
you encounter that are different than yours. Can you easily
see what each person’s North Star is? If not, what does that
mean for that person?
Can you recognize what each person’s path is? If not, what
does that mean for that person?
What can you do in your life that will make your North Star
more obvious to observers?
What is important to understand is that this kind of life won’t
just happen to you, no matter what you’ve read, heard, or what
“bleeping secrets” you’ve been told. The game of life follows a
set of rules and, when you’ve learned what they are, you can use
them to your advantage. You can create the wins you want, time
and time again. This is when personal rewards greatly outweigh
its costs, and life becomes light, fun, exciting and very satisfying.
In life, everyone gets results. There is no failure, only failed results.
You have successfully created the life you have, as it exists right
now. Every action, thought, decision produces a result. The
critical difference is learning how to get the results you want
rather than the results you don’t want.
A wise man once said that there is a price to be paid for success, but also a similar price for failure. The price is, many times,
31
32
DEPARTURE ONE
exactly the same—or ironically, the price for failure higher and
more costly. The remarkable fact is that, with success, you pay
this one time; with failure, you pay it over and over again in many
different ways.
EXERCISE:
Think of your own life.
Where is an area that you have had great success?
What price did you pay to achieve it? Are you still reaping
the benefits of that success?
Where is an area that you feel you have not achieved success?
What price have you paid for that? Are you still paying that
price?
So, why not pay the price for success and enjoy its
benefits?
No one can do this for you. No one can think for you. You are
not alone in this process, but you must do this yourself. What
do you do everyday that is just automatic and what do you do
that you act beyond your habits and ingrained ways of being?
How much of the day do you spend learning or doing things
that you do not know how to do? How pliable are you?
IT’S TIME FOR DEPARTURE.
The wonderful thing is that when you choose Departure, the
results are yours alone, directly in line with your greatest goals
and dreams. This includes anything you are longing for now
that has eluded you thus far in your life.
And all the credit goes to you!
YOUR COMPASS HEADING!
GO DEEPER:
Set aside a sum of money as the price you are willing to
pay for your success. Attach a note that outlines when you
can “cash this in”. Once you’ve attained the success you’ve
listed, treat yourself with this money.
We are about to guide you on this journey. As you stay with this
course, you will be given information that will teach you how to
discover what it is you want, why you don’t have it now, what
you need to do to create it in your life, how to know when it is
appearing, and how to maintain what you’ve attained.
You’ll learn how to win at the game of your life.
EXERCISE:
Reflect on your life thus far:
» Health
» Relationships
» Finances
» Career
» Spirituality
» Family
» Love Life
What are you proud of? What would you like to improve?
In your view, what are your major shortfalls, and what areas
do you really want change in your life?
Make a solid assessment of where you are in all areas of your
life that you’d like to change. Don’t worry at this point about
how to get there, just focus on areas that you would like to
improve to bring about a happier life.
Put this list in a safe place as we will come back to it in time
and use it as a reference guide as you develop the tools to
successfully handle these areas.

COUNT YOUR SUCCESS!
If you are at a particularly low point in your life it is easy to feel
like you may have accomplished very little. Nothing could be
further from the real truth.
Please understand and believe the following:
You have already accomplished things in your life that are really
far greater than what most of us point to as the great accomplishments only few people achieve, like being famous, or rich
or having an ideal family life.
Accomplishments like walking and talking and roller skating or
riding a bike, when compared to your infancy and the time when
you were helpless to even feed yourself, these are tremendous
achievements!
It is easy to lose sight of the fact that you are part of an extraordinary human community. The truly great things that people
accomplish are the things that we all accomplish, and everything
else really pales in comparison!
STOP AND THINK:
What you focus on dramatically affects how you feel about
things. Are you focusing on your accomplishments or your
shortcomings? A shift in what occupies your thinking can
have dramatic immediate results.
Your life is full of accomplishments that you’ve achieved as your
own brain and mind developed. Your first step, your first word,
or your first sentence—your life is full of firsts! But somewhere
along the way we’ve chosen to ignore these milestones, as if
they are so common that they don’t matter.
They do matter! They are your pedigree as a human being!
You have within yourself the same tools you’ve used countless
times to accomplish amazing tasks. This comes naturally to you.
You only need to tap these natural abilities again, in new and
powerful ways, to get similarly useful results.
AN IMPORTANT TRUTH!
The bottom line is that you are capable and have spent your
life demonstrating that!
AN IMPORTANT TRUTH!
An important truth of this program is that physical manifestation
in your life always follows the thought or belief.
The truth is that things don’t simply appear out of nothingness.
There is a basis for what you create and experience in your life.
This basis has its origin in what you think and how you believe.
We create many beliefs to be true that have no basis in reality.
We create people to like or hate us, we create hard times for
ourselves, and we create phantom threats and unnecessary
problems. At the slightest possibility of failure we create misery
and stress and actually start acting as if we are going to fail,
which brings about the failure. This has been proven regarding
the brain and the body, and in manifesting one’s life.
BEWARE:
Blindly following beliefs can limit your future results. It
might be that many of the things you believe to be true
are in fact opinions you share or have learned from others.
As you become more aware of your thoughts and decisions, you
can channel those thoughts in the direction of your choosing.
This creates thoughts and behavior more in alignment with
your Compass Heading and North Star, which in turn improves
the results we get.
For you, the good news is that this is a cycle that can finally be
understood. As you become more aware of your thoughts and
more skilled at filtering and modifying your thoughts and beliefs
and changing those to serve your overall desire for fulfillment,
the form of your life will change. You will begin to see new
results that are in line with what you wish.
Positive changes will occur as a matter of course.

YOUR FUTURE SELF
Imagine for a moment that you can be in two places at one time.
The first place is the here and now, and is evident of the life
you are living at this exact moment. We will call this person
your Current Self.
The second place is some time in the future, after you’ve chosen
your North Star as a guiding influence and accomplished your
goal. The “you” that is in this place would be evident of the
life you would be living at that exact moment. We will call this
person your Future Self.
Now imagine that you can have a conversation between your
current self and your Future Self. Imagine asking your Future
Self questions about what your life is like and what thoughts,
choices, belief and actions were necessary to get to this future
place of satisfaction.
These conversations can be very real, and extremely helpful.
In fact, every successful entrepreneur has similar conversations
taking place daily inside their own mind, constantly updating,
revising and encouraging their Current Self about their goals,
dreams and how closely those relate to their chosen North Star.
What does it feel like to have achieved that goal? Ask your
Future Self.
What does it take to have every action you take be influenced
by your choice of North Star? Ask your Future Self.
What type of adversity might you have to endure? Ask your
Future Self.
Is it worth it? Ask your Future Self.
You can chart your own Pathway and you can consult your
Future Self. As you learn to trust your Future Self, these
conversations can become very instructive. They can become a
reliable resource to help weigh options on the path to your
destination.
