High-level network (A-bus)
High-level network is used to connect room controllers into a compact system.
Network protocol is A-bus (proprietary), based on RS485. Two communication
lines (A and B) and shield are required. Additional line (C) is recommended to
reduce potential difference.
To design A-bus network, few things
should be considered:
PC related SCADA may be connected to network. Communication between
SCADA and controllers is handled by CyBro OPC server.
1. Communication cable should be
connected in a line, point to point. No
branches are allowed.
Wide range of operator panels from Exor may also be connected, using
existing A-bus driver. Panel may be connected to the network, or to a single
room controller.
2. Both line ends should be terminated. All
other termination resistors should be
disconnected.
3. Communication cable should be
shielded, and shield should be tied to a
quality ground.

To connect room controller to A-bus
network, CAD-232-A2 converter is
needed. One converter may be used
for two controllers, or additional
RS232 input may be used for PC.

Low-level network (IEX-2)
Network rules
Low-level network is used to connect periferial devices to room
controller. Network is IEX-2, proprietary protocol based on CAN.
When netwok is designed, a two critical features should
be carefully considered:
Four wires are used, two for power supply and two for
communication.
1. Line length and network topology may affect network
speed. Using default baudrate of 100kpbs, up to 100m
may be considered safe. Longer lines should be properly
terminated, and topology is restricted.
Each IEX-2 module has unique network address, eliminating
need for DIP switches or complicated comissioning process.
Connected modules are detected automatically.
2. Wire resistance cause voltage drop on power supply
lines. It depends of line length, wire diameter and supply
current (determined by number and type of connected
modules).
Network is using short priorited messages, so the response is
very quick. Logic is implemented as user program in central
controller, modules are generally only remote I/O's.
Each module should have at least minimum supply
voltage. If that is not the case, additional power supply
modules should be added. Power supply should have
enough power for all connected modules.
Each group consists of:
- room controller
- power supply
- up to 64 IEX-2 modules

Troubleshooting
Each IEX-2 module has two diagnostic LEDs. If network is not
performing as expected, they may be used to determine problem.

Technical specifications
Bus length: 300m max.
Number of nodes: 64 max.
Baud rate: 100kbps (20..500kbps)
Power supply: 24V (18-26V)
IEX-2 termination
To ensure proper operation, CAN network should be properly terminated.
Depending of total line length, there are three cases:
1) length <100m
No termination resistors are neccessary. Network topology is free, number of
branches is not limited.
2) 100m < length <200m
Termination required. No more than four branches are allowed. Each segment
longer than 20m end should be terminated. Termination resistors are calculated
so that total resistance is 60ohm.
3) 200m < length <300m
Line should be connected strictly in line, without branches. Both ends should
be terminated with 120ohm terminated ressistors (one of them is internal RC
termination resistor).
Maximum allowed line length is 300m.
Room controller has internal termination resistor, which can't be turned off.
External termination resistors should be connected to CANL and CANH lines.

4. Push ferrules into clamps. No tools are needed.
To reduce electromagnetic suspectability,
communication lines (CANH and CANL) should
be twisted together, and also power lines (+24V
and GND) should be twisted together.
Few centimeters of twisting near the clamps is
used to improve wire mechanical strength.
Recommended bus cable is UTP category
CAT3 or higher.
Removing wires
To remove wire from clamp, push screwdriver
into the operating slot and pull the wire out.
Warning
Using non-apropriate screwdriver may
permanently damage the clamps.

Temperature measurement stabilizes about

If external sensor encounters a short

That may happen if longer connection wires
are used. Errorneous value should be
thrown out by plc program.

Warning
Although Integra-BM and CyBro-2 systems are
compatible both in electric connections and software
protocols, special care should be taken. Integra-BM
devices applies to home standards and CyBro-2
applies to industrial standards, so the compatibility
should be carefully considered.
