Learning Objectives: • • • Learn the clinical pearls that maximize success Recognize and avoid the “high risk failure” cases Improve dental treatment planning with evidence based data 2 0 1 6 - 2 0 1 7 PA C K A G E P R O G R A M S E R I E S : PA G E 8 FEBRUARY 8, 2017 9:00 am - 4:30 pm Dean Vafiadis, DDS Computerized Dentistry for Private Practice: Aesthetics, Implants and Occlusion (AM Session) CAD/CAM technology has the advantage of reducing clinical chair-time and reducing laboratory costs. The accuracy of these techniques has improved to the point where they are now comparable to conventional techniques. This presentation will review the current technology which allows the fabrication of anterior incisors in one-visit protocol. In addition, these techniques can also be used to fabricate implant restorations. Utilizing coded healing abutments or scan bodies without a fixture level impression can allow us to design ideal abutments for implants. Digital acquisition impressions of implant and ceramic restorations will be demonstrated. Anterior and posterior restorations using CAD/CAM technologies and impressions will be discussed. At the conclusion of this lecture the participant will understand the advantages and disadvantages of: • • • • Fabrication of anterior aesthetic crowns and veneers CAD/CAM generated and design abutments CAD/CAM anterior restorations for implants Utilizing CAD/CAM crowns for restoring OVD in FMR cases FMR: Restoring the Worn Dentition and OVD: Success Without the Stress (PM Session) Since our dental school education, we were always told that “we could not open the bite”. Many clinicians avoided treating the “worn dentition” while others had great success. This lecture will help de-mystify with practical methods of how to restore OVD position up to 10 mm. The long-term success of these patients with these techniques has been documented and recorded both radiographically and with photographs with up to 10-year results. Using sound prosthodontic principles and digital analysis, these OVD restorations can become standard in our private practice. Anterior determinants and posterior determinants can show us the way through this “gray area” of dentistry. At the conclusion of this lecture the participant will understand the advantages and disadvantages of: Learning Objectives: • • • • Determining new working OVD position Utilizing provisionals to confirm new OVD position Anterior and posterior determinants for OVD Classification of the full mouth rehabilitation patient techniques using CT scans of TMJ joint for OVD maintenance Refer to pages 12 and 13 for complete speaker biographies.
