City of Bettendorf Parks www.bettendorf.org/parks 563-344-4113 2016 Recreation Bettendorf Parks & Recreation • www.bettendorf.org/parks • 563.344.4113 1 MISSION STATEMENT To provide recreational opportunities that enrich the quality of life for all. The Board of Park Commissioners and staff are very pleased to provide the programs and facilities listed in this brochure. We try to offer a well-rounded selection of activities and amenities to choose from, and we want you to have an outstanding experience. Please let us know of any suggestions or concerns regarding our programs and facilities. We hope you take the time to enjoy the many parks, facilities, and programs we offer! DIRECTOR’S UPDATE Welcome to the 2016 edition of the Bettendorf Parks and Recreation Spring and Summer Brochure. You’ll find lots of recreational opportunities and access to information regarding the many parks and facilities that we operate. Everything you need to have a great year! The Park Board Commissioners, Mayor, City Council, and the many staff that help provide these opportunities and maintain these facilities are very proud of the contributions they make to the quality of life for the citizens of Bettendorf and the surrounding communities. There are a number of major improvements that will be made this year for the park and recreation facilities. The two largest include the completion of the first phase of Forest Grove Park, which will be dedicated this summer, and the extension of the Mississippi Riverfront Trail from Fenno Road to the eastern City limits along US67. In addition, we will be wrapping up the revisions to the Park and Recreation Master Plan that will help guide the decisions for the Park Board in the future. Another cooperative project between the City of Bettendorf and the Bettendorf School District is the tennis court renovations at both the high school and middle school. Both entities, along with funding assistance from the Scott County Regional Authority, are replacing the eight old tennis courts at the high school with 12 new tennis courts, and replacing the eight old tennis courts at middle school with six new tennis courts and six new pickleball courts. The project should be complete by the Fall of 2016. Make sure to check out these new amenities for our community and to also take time to explore the many other options for fun, fitness, and recreation that Bettendorf has to offer.
