Mossy Oak Properties Of The Heartland
Mossy Oak Properties Of The Heartland
Presents The 2012 Monster Buck Classic
The setting for the inaugural Monster Buck Classic of Kansas is the Kansas ExpoCentre located in the
capital city of Topeka, KS. The ExpoCentre can be accessed from every region in the state by way of
major interstate or highway. It is 60 miles west of Kansas City and 140 miles from Wichita, our two
major markets. The facilities have adequate space and parking for up to 2,200 vehicles. The Capital
Plaza Hotel is on the ExpoCentre campus.
Purpose Of Event
To promote the great sport of deer hunting and outdoor recreation in Kansas by offering a wholesome venue which the general public of Kansas can display their passion for the sport, learn
conservation and techniques to enhance their experience in the great outdoors, view and purchase
the latest tools, technology and gear in the industry and give notice to the rest of the Mid-West and
Heartland of America that Kansas has officially arrived.
Sponsors & Exhibitors
Our Sponsors and exhibitors have an opportunity to be a part of the Monster Buck Classic of Kansas
event that will change things forever in Kansas. The state of Kansas has never had the opportunity
until now to carve their name in the halls of officially recognized big bucks like Iowa, Nebraska and
Illinois have done and been doing for years through their Monster Buck Classic venues. Our slogan
and theme for the event “We Are Kansas” and “On January 27-29th, 2012 everything changes”, are
statements and notice of sorts to the rest of the Midwest and Heartland of America that Kansas has
now arrived and taken center stage. The event is the first of the “Monster Buck Classic” season with
a date of January 27-29th, 2012. The event date is the closest date of all shows and events of its kind
to the end of deer season. The date of the event is the weekend after the NFL playoffs and a week
before the Super Bowl and after the national SHOT SHOW in Las Vegas. Parking for the event is
free and paid admission is good all weekend long, allowing people to come and go which will help
to drive the overall attendance.
Title Sponsor: Mossy Oak Properties of the Heartland
Expected Attendance: 15,000 - 20,000
Total Vendor Booths: 160
Promotion & Marketing
Because the event is an "inaugural event" we have a very aggressive marketing plan in place as follows:
Television: Cross Timbers Production will create a :30 second commercial to be run on all 17 Monday
Night Football Games in the Kansas City, Topeka, and Wichita markets. The commercial will also run on
ABC 49 in the Topeka market. This will go into 650,000 homes and reach over 1.2M people each week.
AP Press Releases: Press releases will be done periodically leading up to the event. Significant news
and information will be shared with most media outlets in Kansas.
Newspaper: Topeka Capital-Journal, Kansas City Star, Wichita Eagle, Salina Journal, Manhattan
Mercury, and the Pittsburg Morning Sun. We will also solicit newspapers for interview and story
coverage before during and after the event. We have a relationship with the KC Star Outdoor
Editor, Brent Frazee. He has committed to covering the Monster Buck Classic prior, during and
after the event.
Kansas Department of Commerce, Travel and Tourism and Visit Topeka:
Billboards: We will place billboards on the following routes: Hwy 54 from Fort Scott to Pratt,
Hwy 69 from KC to Pittsburg, Hwy 96 from Wichita to Hutch, Hwy 177 from Manhatten to
El Dorado, Hwy 81 from Salina to Belleville. Billboards will be placed no later than December 1, 2011.
Poster Distribution: Physically place over 2,000 10 inch x 15 inch full color official MBCK posters.
Every county east of Hwy 281 up to I-70, back over to Hwy 81 up to the NE state line and east to the
MO state line and down to the OK state line will be canvassed. We will place the posters, with
permission at each location, in hunting and outdoor stores, convenience stores, Wal-Mart Sporting
Goods Departments, Tractor Supply Stores, Bass Pro, Gander Mountain, Dick’s Sporting Goods,
Cabala’s, restaurants, and other places that will give us exposure. All posters will be up no later than
October 15, 2011
Website: monsterbuckclassic.com is the official domain name and home for the event on the
world-wide web. We will place our web address on all marketing and media material to drive folks
to the site and bring quick access of what is taking place in the “We Are Kansas” and the Kansas
Monster Buck Classic world. We will place the web link on as many other sites as we possibly can.
Each sponsor and vendor will have a presence on our website.
Promotion & Marketing continued...
MBCK Official Event Bags: Each adult ages 18 and up (one per family) that comes through the
gate will receive an official event bag. One side will have the official MBCK logo on it and the other
side will boast our sponsors in proportion to their sponsorship level. These will be around long after
the event is over.
Official MBCK Apparel: Each sponsor will have their logo appear on all dated official MBCK apparel
sold during the event. The apparel store will be located at the entrance to the ExpoCentre.
Email blast and direct mail: We will direct mail over 10,000 known Kansas resident deer hunters.
Links on other websites: We will work with other websites (sponsors, exhibitors, outdoor and
hunting venues, etc.) to place our link on it for traffic to the MBCK website
Social Networking Platforms: We will promote the event on all the major social networking
platforms before, during and after the event is over.
Hat Giveaway: The first 100 paid attendees per day will receive a FREE official MBCK hat.
Kansas State Fair Booth: We will have a booth at the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson, KS in September.
University of Kansas and Kansas State University: We will have marketing efforts on both campuses
through their football and basketball programs. Plans for this have yet to be finalized.
Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks Hunting Regulations Booklet: We will place an ad in
this publication. Over 275,000 are distributed throughout Kansas. The booklets hit the shelves
September 1st and remains on shelves until after the spring of the following year.
Landsofamerica.com and Landwatch.com: The leading land for sale websites in the world. We will
have banner ads on the Kansas homepages of these land websites. Hunters often visit these sites
in search of land to buy for hunting.
Christmas Parades: We will attend and participate in Pittsburg, Fort Scott, Topeka, Wichita, Hutchinson,
Salina and Manhattan’s Christmas parades. We will pull the official MBCK trailer through each parade.

our wounded heroes as they persevere in life, Friends Of American Heroes works to provide enriching
outdoor recreational opportunities for them across the country.
