Read the July Visionary
Volume 8, Issue 7, July 2011 UPDA TE by Doug Lucas, President, Team Expansion Incredible. In fact, some said they thought this might have been the best and most globally-aware North American Christian Convention (NACC) ever in the history of the convention. Walking into the main South Concourse lobby of the Duke Convention Center in Cincinnati, it was impossible to miss the giant faces of unreached peoples: tribal, Hindu, unreligious, Muslim, Buddhist, and Sikh. The Unreached Peoples Research Center was nearly always buzzing with questions, complete with maps and charts projected on the big screen, relevant to whichever people group or city was being discussed. By the time we heard the last "amen," more than 230 people had committed to pray for a specific unreached people group, with 60 of those having agreed to act as a catalyst in their respective churches, hoping to influence those churches to adopt that particular group as a focus for a long-term church-planting-movement-launching initiative. We're grateful to all the volunteers who helped make it happen. Emerald Hills was hopping in the weeks leading up to the convention. It had become a center for bringing the initiative to life. It was just another example of Emerald Hills giving back to Christian Churches nationwide and worldwide. The best testimony of all? Almost immediately following the NACC, the Director of the National Missionary Convention asked us to stage the same kind of exhibit in Atlanta this fall at the NMC! See pictures, watch the one-minute video, and read all about the follow-up at www.U4theU.com. FIELD HIGHLIGHT: TOKYO, JAPAN by Phil and Kim Kornegay On one relief trip, Phil noticed a box of small stuffed animals was emptied very quickly. Many children are living in shelters with very little to do. Most children in tsunami areas know of 4112 Old Routt Road Louisville, KY 40299 1-800-447-0800 dead or missing friends. One child mentioned that seven of his friends, a teacher and a relative are all dead. What a huge burden for a small child to bear! And now there are thousands of orphaned children whose father and mother both were killed. Our team has decided to put together some gift boxes www.teamexpansion.org [email protected] especially for children, with some small toys and art materials that kids like. In a time like this, Jesus’ words come to mind: “And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward” (Matt. 10:42). www.emeraldhills.info Find us on Facebook & Twitter!
