THINGS TO SEE & DO
Driving
From Boston and points North: take Route 3
South to Route 6 across the Sagamore Bridge.
Approximately 27 miles to Brewster Exits 10,
11 or 12 off of Route 6: these all lead to
Brewster.
Fishing & Boating: 48 freshwater ponds have
a diversity of game fish. Boats ramps at Sheep
Pond, Long Pond, Upper Mill Pond and inside
Nickerson State Park. Freshwater license required: available at True Value Hardware.
There are no boat ramps at Brewster’s saltwater beaches!
From points South or West: Route 195 or
Route 495 to Route 25 across the Bourne
Bridge - follow signs to Route 6 along Cape
Cod Canal and enter Route 6 at traffic lights.
Continue on Route 6 to Brewster exits 10, 11,
or 12 off of Route 6: these all lead to Brewster.

Cape Air (based in Hyannis) flies into Barnstable Municipal Airport in Hyannis (exit 7 off of
Route 6) and Provincetown Airport from Boston’s Logan International. Connections available to Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority
public bus service and to Plymouth & Brockton
bus at both Cape Cod airports.
Public Transportation on Cape Cod
The FLEX bus service provides public transportation for the Lower/Outer Cape from
Harwich to Provincetown. It connects to bus

Cape Cod Rail Trail for biking, walking, running
or rollerblading along 25 miles of scenic paved
paths where train tracks once crossed the
Cape. Access the Trail from a number of Brewster locations (see map!).
Punkhorn Parklands has over 800 acres of
conservation land with wooded trails that begin
at the end of Run Hill Road. Maps ($1 each)
sold at the Information Center.
Drummer Boy Park is home to Higgins Farm
Windmill, Harris Black House and a working
black smith shop. Managed by the Brewster
Historical Society, these sites are open in July
and August on weekends,
Stony Brook Grist Mill & Herring Run is located across the street from where Brewster’s
first gristmill (and first business!) earned the
community the name of Factory Village. Visit
the Mill site on Saturdays in July and August to
see the mill in action.
Crosby Mansion is on Crosby Lane in East
Brewster. The mansion features fanciful architecture and was built in 1887 by entrepreneur
Albert Crosby. Today it is preserved by the
Town of Brewster and is open for tours in the
summer. Call 508-896-1744.
NICKERSON STATE PARK

(3 stocked year-round) including nature trails,
8 miles of paved paths, picnic sites, and boat
launches for motorboats (10 HP limit),
sailboats, canoes and kayaks.

BREWSTER BEACHES
Brewster is famous for the Brewster
Flats, a phenomenon created by the ebb
and flow of the daily tides when the waters
recede out of Cape Cod Bay over 1 mile to
reveal sandbars, clam beds and tidal pools
teeming with sea life.
Tide charts are available from a number of
Brewster businesses and can also be downloaded
at www.brewster-capecod.com.
Visit Brewster’s Bay Side Beaches to
experience this at least once a day. From
east to west these are: Crosby Landing,
Linnell Landing, Ellis Landing, Breakwater Beach, Saint’s Landing, Mant’s Landing and Paines Creek. There are:
Portable toilets from June - Labor Day.
No lifeguards
Handicap access (beach wheelchair may
be reserved from Council on Aging 508-8962737.)
Freshwater Ponds that have public
beaches and landings include Long Pond
(take Crowell’s Bog Road off of Rte. 124)
where a lifeguard is on duty daily from 9am
- 5pm June—Labor Day; Sheep Pond
(from Fisherman’s Landing off of Rte. 124),
and Upper Mill Pond (from Run Hill Road)
where there is no lifeguard. Portable toilets
at each beach June - Labor Day.
Beach Parking
Parking Passes are required at all of
these beaches from June 15 - September
2, 2011, 9 am - 3 pm daily! No fees for walkers or bikers, or for ponds in Nickerson State
Park.
Passes are on sale daily from 9 am—3 pm
at Brewster Town Hall, 2198 Main Street in
the Information Center. Call 508-896-4511.
There are no attendants at town beaches
and the fine for parking without a pass is
$30 per violation.
Non-resident Fee: $15/day; $50/7-day
week; $125 /season
Resident Fee: $15/season (must show
vehicle registration and proof of residency)
