Craft Products Catalog
RSCN’s handicraft workshops were established as part of our socioeconomic development
program for local communities. Sixteen handicraft workshops have been set up in the past
decade and are currently operated and managed by RSCN.
The sixteen workshops are located in and around different RSCN managed nature reserves in
an effort to spread benefits to different underprivileged local communities. These workshops
help to conserve nature by providing new sources of income and employment for families in
villages near to nature reserves to reduce their dependency on the reserves’ natural resources.
Our workshops use the natural assets of protected areas to create sustainable economic and
social benefits for local communities.
Over 60 local women have been empowered through the workshops by providing them with
employment, and are helping to alleviate poverty in areas that offer few other employment
opportunities. These thriving handicraft enterprises are making conservation important to the
lives of local communities by providing alternatives to hunting, overgrazing and a number of
other threats to wildlife habitats in Jordan.
These nature-inspired businesses create distinctive handmade products that are sold at Wild
Jordan’s nine Nature Shops which are located at each nature reserve and at the Wild Jordan
Center in Amman. The unique and high-quality products are wonderful as souvenirs, gifts or
to decorate your home, and can be customized for corporate and large orders.

The Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN) is a nongovernmental organization devoted to the conservation of Jordan’s
wildlife. Established in 1966 under the patronage of His Majesty the
late King Hussein, RSCN has been given the responsibility by the
Government of Jordan to protect the Kingdom’s natural heritage.
Wild Jordan is a registered trademark of The Royal Society for the
Conservation of Nature. Wild Jordan’s revenue contributes to the
sustainability of RSCN’s protected areas and supports the socio
economic development of local communities.

AZRAQ Ostrich Egg Dotting Workshop
The AZRAQ Ostrich Egg is hand dotted by
Jordanian artisans of The Azraq Wetland Reserve;
The Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature
trained the women to dot unique designs on
unfertile eggs only.
Egg dotting is one of many enterprises initiated
to bring benefits to people living near our
nature reserves. Blue Naked Ostrich living in the
Shaumari Nature Reserve near Azraq laid this
egg. It’s the closest living relative of the Syrian
Ostrich, which is now extinct in Jordan. RSCN is
breeding ostriches as a part of program to save
endangered species in Jordan.

Established 2004. Sewing is a talent that most
women have, RSCN improved it and opened a
new chances for these ladies to have an income
coming in from it, designing a usable products
from their hands gives them a push to be more

combination of products. Whether a camera
bag or a water bottle holder, Azraq bags are
handmade, durable, and have our famous RSCN
icons from nature to deliver our message of
helping nature and helping people.

Established in 2004 to reflect the beauty of
Jordan’s nature throughout these games that can
be enjoyed by kids and adults alike.
Who said learning can’t be fun? At the Educational
Toys Workshop, women create a wide selection
of toys, which both adults and children can enjoy
while simultaneously learning. Our version of
Wild Monopoly is a family favorite!

The Soap House
Established in 2007 in Jordan’s northern region
of Orjan and Ajloun and funded by Hanns
Seidel, the Soap House produces a range of
olive oil-based soaps and beauty products. The
RSCN took inspiration from the local practice of
producing olive oil soap to create an enterprise
that creates high quality and ethical products.
The Orjani women employed by the Soap House
are in reduced circumstances, however, they are
given the chance to enjoy vocational work and
create popular and in-demand products.

The Biscuit House
The Biscuit House is currently owned and managed by local community women under a newly
adopted community engagement model, where
the women are transformed from traditional em-
ployees to actual local community entrepreneurs.
Under this model, RSCN hopes to further build
the capacity of those communities, provide them
with the necessary know how to manage and
sustain their own income generating projects.
The Biscuit House was originally funded through
Hanns-Seidel-Stiftung and managed by The
Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature
for 5 years, upon the success of the house it was
handed over to local community women as of
September 2014. The women continue the production of RSCN Jordanian Delights products,
branded Tasali. Tasali products include Molasses
and Tahini Sandwich Cookies, Olive Oil Crisps
and Energy Bars.

Dana Fruit Drying Workshop
Established in 1995 by the RSCN, in Jordan’s
southern region of Dana, the Fruit Drying
Workshop produces jams, herbs, and fruit
leather. These products are made up of a delicious
combination of fruits that are part of traditional
Jordanian breakfasts and dinners.
Providing underprivileged women from the local
community with their own salaries, the Fruit
Drying Workshop is aiding members of society by
changing their role and allowing them to support
their own families.

Established in 1995 From Dana wide terrains
comes a delicious combination of herbs that
makes a traditional portion from the Jordanian
breakfast and dinner.
The sun-drenched terraces of Dana Village
provide a perfect place for growing herbs. The

and lay them out in the Jordanian sun to dry.

the Medicinal Herbs Workshop produces a range
of local and wild-grown herbs with healing

Offering work opportunities to underprivileged

Sandblasting Workshop
Established in 2003 and funded by the Embassy of
Switzerland, this project creates job opportunities
for the local people and to support the conservation
of programs in Mujib areas.
Local stones are blasted with Jordanian sand,
creating unique designs that are reminiscent
of the natural sites throughout all of Jordan’s
reserves.
The Sandblasting process is an intricate one,
usually it is done with a piece of copper, where
the copper is placed against the stone, then
pumped with sand. The process can be done in 2
different ways, inward and upwards.

Established in 2007 by a fund from UNDP & GIF.
Dibeen is a place that’s been famous for pottery
making, the idea was to develop the local
handcrafts by making new products that meet
the needs of this period of time. Some of the

that is showcased in Jerash museum.

Established in 2007, the embroidery workshop
in Dibeen is a part of a conservation effort by
the Royal Society for the conservation of Nature
to reduce the damage of illegal woodcutting by

habitats for flora and fauna.

Leather and Candles Workshop
Established in 2011, the workshop offers training
session in the art of candle making by infusing
natural elements for aesthetics.
Being eco-friendly products, the candles are
infused with flower, grape vines, or orange slices
to stress our commitment to preserving nature
The Bedouin women of Feynan create candle
lanterns, nature boxes, and other attractive
gifts out of goat leather. These naturally cured
goatskin products not only make great home
accessories, they also help reduce the damage
caused by grazing, thus reducing livestock with
harming the Bedouins’ livelihood.
