The Women in Maritime Association,
Caribbean
New ground was broken when, at the conclusion of an intensive 5-day conference, the Women in Maritime Association Caribbean (WiMAC) was formed.
Conducted under the auspices of the International Maritime Organization (IMO),
the conference was held at the Holiday Inn Sunspree in Montego Bay, Jamaica,
from 13-17th April 2015.

join the existing regional groups in furthering the objectives
of IMO’s 1988 strategy, while promoting the continued education and training of women in the maritime sector, advocating for gender equality, promoting the protection of the
marine environment and the safe, secure and efficient shipping and port operations; and connecting national, regional
and international organizations with similar objectives.
