White Acres provides for 12 clients who have needs
associated with a learning disability. All of the
accommodation is offered in single bedroom format,
many of which offer en-suite facilities. White Acres
benefits from disabled bathing facilities and also benefits
from on-site transport which allows clients to access
community day centres and activity centres.
Our team
White Acres employs approximately 10 staff all of whom
are trained in the key aspects of care delivery, to ensure
the provision of a safe, quality service to our client group.
Full details of the training undertaken by our staff can be
obtained from the Home Manager, Angela Mee, who in
turn has completed her NVQ Level 4 in Social Care and
her Registered Manager’s Award, and has many years of
experience of caring for clients with learning disabilities.
Our staff also benefit from a vocational training
programme, and are regularly supported by our Quality
Matters Team to embark upon specialist learning disability
training, with an emphasis on internal promotion and
staff development.
Location
White Acres is located just off Junction 23 of the M1, in
the small town of Shepshed, close to all local amenities
and facilities.
Prospective clients
Prospective clients are encouraged, either with friends,
relatives or advocates, to view all available vacant
accommodation. Prior to being offered a place at White
Acres, an individual care plan assessment focusing on
individual needs and choices will be structured to offer
as much care and support as is necessary, but with an
emphasis on developing personal skills.
Activities
The home has a thriving activity programme, which
focuses on improving and developing clients’ personal
skills. The home provides a clients’ kitchenette and
laundry, our on-site transport provides access to local
community day centres, activities and events.
