Impressive History
In 1864, when progress started
to get going, the first erigine
factory In the worid was founded
by Nikolaus August Otto and
Eugen Langen. In a joint effort
they developed Olto's idea for
power to the production stage:
the atmospheric gas engine.
Gasmotorenfabrìk DEUTZ AG, at
Cologne supplled this new power
for the world. Nikolaus Otto had
developed the four-stroke cycle
prìnciple in 1861 based on the one
half H. P. atmospheric engine and
in 1876 this was combined with the
1. C. engine which started the age
of world motorisation. DEUTZ
motorised ìndustry. trade. farming, road
traffic, rail, shipping and air traffic.
DEUTZ is today Europe's leading
manufacturer of agricultural
tractors. The complete line ts ten
tractor models, nine of which are
offered in four-wheei drive
versions and in additlon the
INTRAC SYSTEM 2000. DEUTZ.
through the parent company of
Klockner-Humboldt-Deutz AG is the
world's largest manufacturer of
air-cooled diesel engines.

The D 100 06 is extremely well
piaced in its power class. The
6-cylinder aìr-cooied diesel engine
has a Wide speed range which
inltiates its versatility and a long
stroke engine produces a hightorque figure wilh a rise of 13.5 %.
Piston displacement is 5652 cm^.
Wherever Ihere is a demand for
high performance coupied with
economy, the D 10006 is today's
answer.
The D 100 06 uses the direct aircooled principle. This renders
thermostat, radiator, water cooler
and pump, gaskets, water hoses
and anti-freeze unnecessary.
Air-cooled DEUTZ diesels are
cooied by a balanced heavy-duty
fan. A cooling duct system, proved
a million times over, ensures equal
cooling for ali cylinders. Since the
D 100 06 reaches it normal
operating temperature very quickly,
it can be run under Ioad right
away. This also means reducing
the wear caused by cold running
diesel exhaust corrosion, When
using air cooling, the operating
temperature is not limlted by the
boiling of the coolant. To the
contrary, tt makes it possible to
run the engine at a hlgher, more
favourable operating temperature.
This improves combustion and
reduces fuel consumption. There
is no need for coolling air
adjustment during tractor operation
neither in extremely low nor in
extremely high ambient
temperatures. The advanced
DEUTZ engine technology ensures
a particularly smooth running of
the air-cooled diesels. There is
good startmg with a DEUTZ 10006.
This is ensured by a strong started
motor, a heavy-duty ballery and a
cold starting device. The 28
ampere 3-phase alternator charges
the baltery even at idiing speed.
A prerequisite for a long-lived
service of I. C. engines is a clean
combustion air.

Therefore, DEUTZ SICCOPUR air
cleaner with cyclone precleaner
are standard equipment on DEUTZ
tractors. This ensures an almost
100 °/o cleanliness of the ìntake air.
DEUTZ has fltted the D 10006 with
a 120-litre tank. This is enough
fuel for a hard day's work without
the need for refuelling.
Air cooling is well suited to modula
construction of the engine;
cylinders are individually replaceable: many components are
identical and therefore interchangeable wilhin the entire engine
range.

The DEUTZ TRANSFERMATIC
SYSTEM hydrauiic lift works
extraordinarily well. Joltless
control and equa! working depth
are ensured by a well-tuned
collective action of a gently and
quickly respondjng control unit, a
simple and low-friction control
llnkage and a large draft pick-up
range.
Single-lever control. After preselecting either draft control or
posltion control, the work to be
done ìs controlied by on!y one
lever. And also the free-f!oatÌng of
IrT>pl©ments, raising and lowering.
Automatic height kick-out applies
at standard working posltion for
3-point linkage mounted implements thus ensurìng a required
working height. By turning a llmit
lever, the ralsìng to standard
higher can be locked mechanlcally
and the lowering hydraulicatly.
In both cases the DEUTZ
transferma tic system has an
independent pressurised oli flow
from pump to control valve, whlch
only activates when height
adjustment is necessary. The
implement is carried on this oli
cushion in the service cyllnder
(shock absorber effect) and thus
the tractor and the implement are
subject to less fatigue. The system
raises Implements higher than the
ìnternational 3-point linkage
standard. The automatic lowering
control valve prevents fast down
drop of heavy implements.
Automatic side stabilisation when
the implement is raised to the top
stabilising in centre posìtion. This
ìs particulariy important when
pioughing, when raising the plough
to make a head land turn, the
plough is arrested automatically in
centre posiUon and cannot swing
to the side. Ampie adjustment on
both lift rods and side tilt
compensation for wide implements.

The D 10006 is equiped wìth a fulty
synchronised high/Iow range
gearbox giving a total of 12 forward
working gears, and 4 creep gears,
and 7 reverse gears. There
are two ranges for forward
movement and one range for
reverse, with on-the-move range
selection from fast to slow and
between gears.
In the forward range. the
12 basic forward speeds are from
1.4 to 20.0 m. p. h. These speeds
are well graded without overlap
and a clear shift pattern makes for
easy gear control. With this fully
synchronised transmission (System
Porsche) the D 100 06 has the right
speed for every Job.
There are four creep gears from
0.6 to 1.2 m, p. h. for inter-row
cultivation work etc. plus a power
reserve to cope with today's
mechanised fleld equipment.
Independent two-speed P. T. O.
The D 10006 has an independent
two-speed P. T. 0 . shaft as
standard equipment, which can be
engaged and disengaged on-thé-go
and under Ioad.
By Just operating a lever from the
seat, you have a cholce of 540 or
1,000 r. p. m. Rated P. T. O. is
obtained at 90 7o of rated angine
speed.

The front axle drive can be
