Ancestors of Innovation
Probat Burns was founded on the ingenuity of two men. In Germany in
1868, Theodor von Gimborn designed a coffee roaster later described as
“probat,” the German word for “tried and tested.” And in New York in
1864, Jabez Burns designed his own roaster and grew a strong knowledge
base for the coffee industry.
