ISA’s First 5 Star
Beauty Apprentice
Steph Symonds is the first learner to
complete ISA Training’s unique 5 Star
Beauty Apprenticeship Programme.
Steph undertook her apprenticeship
at the Vale Resort Spa in the Vale of
Glamorgan and has been offered a
post as a qualified therapist.

Steph, who left school at 16 with 11
GCSEs, jumped at the chance to
start work as an apprentice at the
Vale Resort Spa. She completed a
Foundation Apprenticeship in Beauty
Therapy General before progressing
immediately to an Apprenticeship in
Beauty Therapy Massage which she
has achieved 2 months ahead of
schedule.
At the Vale Resort Spa, she frequently
gives treatments to famous guests,
including international rugby and

industry and you earn while you learn

State Registration campaign to North
Wales. Shirley delivered several
presentations to hairdressing
learners and their tutors at Coleg
Menai’s Llangefni and Bangor
campuses and at Coleg Llandrillo’s
Rhos-on-Sea campus, explaining
why she is campaigning for State
Registration of Hairdressers.
ISA designed the programme for the
Vale Resort Spa to respond to the
specific training and business needs
of prestige hotel spas in Wales. Within
the first 26 weeks, Steph focussed on
Level 3 body massage treatments
and spa operations in order to
generate income for the spa from an
early stage.

The Andrew Price Group has
reached the final in the Welsh
Government’s Apprenticeship
Awards Cymru in the category of
Medium Apprentice Employer of
the Year 2014. The group, owned
by Andrew Price, has 10 salons
throughout West Wales and currently
employs 30 apprentices. Their
apprenticeship scheme has been
running for 26 years and since
this time they have employed 70
apprentices, many of whom are still
with the company today in senior
positions within the company. The
winner will be announced at a
prestigious awards ceremony at The
Celtic Manor Resort on 31st October
2014. The Andrew Price Group has
worked with ISA Training since 2009.

Darryn Pitman joins
WAHL Artistic Team
Former ISA apprentice and Salon
Cymru competition winner Darryn
Pitman is set to join the WAHL Artistic
Team from February 2015. Darryn said
“To be recognised for my work and
invited to join such a HUGE artistic
team is such an incredible feeling.
I genuinely am on cloud nine! I am
very excited about what I am going
to be involved in, and can’t wait to
get stuck in!”

New York
Calling
The final strand of ISA’s Oyster
Strategy will be brought to life when
we take four learners to New York
in May 2015. The learners will be
accompanied by members of the
ISA Training team and will spend
five days exploring the hairdressing
sector in New York as well as fitting
in some cultural visits.

Patrick Cameron at
Salon Cymru 2015
Patrick Cameron will deliver a 90
minute look and learn session at Salon
Cymru 2015 at the SWALEC Stadium on
Sunday 26th April. We asked Patrick
about his new collection ‘PINK’:
