LUCERTULAS
“ANATOMYAK”
Four years after the release of “THE BRAWL” the album which led to Lucertulas
playing in Europe and throughout Italy, the power trio of Federico Aggio (vocals,
bass), Luca Bottigliero (drums) and Christian Zandonella (guitar) returns with
"ANATOMYAK", their new album released through Macina Dischi and Robotradio
Records. From the first note "ANATOMYAK" is as disruptive, dense and vital as their
previous work, however after the abrasive “THE BRAWL”, Lucertulas wanted to give
life to an album that pushed the boundaries, its manifold trigger mechanisms enabling
them to reach new depths. Hypnotic rhythm sessions and twisted, sinister guitars
accompany a morbidly ambivalent voice making up the arteries, bones and tissues
that are ANATOMYAK. The impetus of A Good Father, the pathologically distorted
sound of Sickness , Beggars’ deception, and the hypnotic Caronte are the result of the
last two years’ line up changes and sonic evolution.
The trio's energy was perfectly captured Frederick Grella, the group’s former live
sound engineer, at Dirty Sound Studio in Angiari, Verona at the end of February and
beginning of March 2014, before being mastered by Andrea Suriani at Alpha Dept
Studio.
"ANATOMYAK " will be out for Macinadischi / Robotradio Records, it comes in two
formats, in addition to the classic CD digipack there is the 10" vinyl Aluminum Series
edition with hand stamped, 12/10 thick anodized aluminum sheet cover, the 10 " black
vinyl version or 10"+ CD with cyan and black haze vinyl.
The album’s April 2014 release will be accompanied by a promotional tour of France,
Germany and Italy, on which talented Trentino guitarist Federico Dionisi will alternate
with Christian Zandonella.
BIOGRAPHY
Lucertulas know no compromise. A sound so naturally powerful and incisive that heard
live they challenge even the most hardened audience.
A wall of sound swallowing you up and hurling you into a world of distortion.
Rock-noise-punk-hardcore, most certainly angry, anything but blind…
The group was formed in 2003 by Christian Zandonella (guitar), Daniele De Vecchi
(drums) and Sandro Crisafi (bass & Vocals).
In 2004 they released their debut album “Homo Volans” under the pseudonym Superlucertulas for the independent label 8mm Records.
This release resulted in gigs alongside such international acts as Oneida, Kid
Kommand and Hella, as well as the first of their overseas tours, taking in France in
Spring 2004 with their friends and contemporaries, G.I. Joe, followed by Germany in
September/October 2005 with the American band Wounded Head.
Following this second tour, bassist Sandro Crisafi left the group, but was replaced by
Federico Aggio in 2006 and the new line up duly changed its name to Lucertulas.
In April 2007, with the help of Giulio ‘Ragno’ Favero (Previously of One Dimensional
Man, Putiferio and Teatro Degli Orrori), Lucertulas recorded their second album
entitled “Tragol De Rova”.
Ear splitting noise, razor sharp guitars cutting through vast ambient structures and
obsessive rhythms pounding out psychedelic visions. Neither fashionable nor an
exercise in the avant-garde, the album paves its own way, and was well received by
the critics and public alike.
In June 2008 the groups line up changed once again with Daniele De Vecchi being
replaced by Massimo Cettolin on drums.
In October 2009, after an intense period of gigging, (sharing the stage with the likes of
Zu, Oneida, Red Worms Farm etc.) including a tour of France accompanied by the
group Amavo, Lucertulas returned to the studio to begin recording their third and most
recent album entitled “The Brawl”.
Due for release in May 2010, the album includes four tracks sung in Italian and is
available in the unusual format of CD + HANDPRINTED VINYL, housed in a limited
edition cardboard packaging, thanks to a collaboration between Robotrecords and
Macinarecords.
This time around the sound is more rock with brief excursions into ambient-noise
territory. Its 13 tracks are more elaborately constructed, continuously channeling the
Lucertulas fury, suggesting crude and bloody atmospheres, giving no respite to the
listener before hurling them into an inescapable vortex of noise.
In 2012 Massimo Cettolin left the band and was substituted by Luca Bottigliero ( One
Dimensional Man, Mesmerico and now Grayscaleye). Thanks to the great help of the
guitarrist Federico Dionisi (who joins the band in 2013 and plays guitar in live shows)
the band played in every part of Italy and in February 2014 recorded their last work:
Anatomyak. Thanks to Federico Grella (who recorded the album at Dirty Sound Studio)
the album sounds very powerfull and strong: 6 tracks (30 minutes all) that statues a
new evolution of the band in a more complete and mature way of songwriting and
building up the sound.
The album will be out in April/May 2014 for MacinaDischi and Robotradio Records in
two different packagings: digipack CD and vinyl 10" aluminium series + CD. In the
same period the band will tour in France and Germany. So prepare to be part of that!!!!
