All information in this agent manual is based on current information.
Malmö Turism takes no responsibility for any amendments of product
information or other conditions. Therefore, when using this manual, please

The symbols are intended to help you find which product is most suitable for
your customers.
We are pleased to announce we have several new products in the manual.

Malmö. It starts here. Malmö is more than a city. Malmö is encounters,
food, and laughter. Malmö brims with people creating experiences for everyone
to enjoy – theatre, art and music. Malmö is the place where you’ll meet
a promising young designer, a chef whose restaurant is boasting its first
Michelin star, a director pushing boundaries, a band recording its first album.
Ideas and momentum flow in Malmö. You feel it in our art, our music,
our food. You feel it in our diversity and people.
It is said that our city has more restaurants per citizen than anywhere else
in Sweden. Perhaps that’s because half the population is younger than
30 years old. Young restaurant and bistro owners around Möllevångstorget
and Davidshallstorg squares experiment with influences from France, Italy,
Japan, Lebanon, Iran and many other nations. Cosy cafés and bars are dotted all
over. When the Michelin Guide visited Malmö for the first time 2015, it awarded
three restaurants a Michelin star. At the other end, Malmö has excellent fast
food to suit every budget and is also known as Sweden’s falafel capital.
Expect the unexpected from Malmö’s cultural life. The new concert hall at
Malmö Live hosts everything from children’s musicals to world names in rock,
classical music and jazz. The summertime Sommarscen Malmö outdoor festival
surprises and entertains. The Malmö Festival is a food and music extravaganza.
Malmö Opera presents ballet and classical opera with unique scenography and
artistic expression.
Around the city you will find more than 300 works of art on public display
and numerous examples of architectural innovation. Visit private galleries
or enjoy contemporary art at Malmö Konsthall, Malmö Art Museum,
Moderna Museet Malmö and Form Design Center.
Everything is within easy reach in Sweden’s most cosmopolitan city. Beyond
that, Copenhagen is just half an hour away across the Öresund Bridge
Today Malmö is a city where you can be certain to experience something new.

and probably the world. Play over, under or past many of Malmö’s most

Roof Garden/Eco-City
SCANDINAVIAN GREEN ROOF INSTITUTE
Visit the Botanical Roof Garden with its various green roofs. Learn
about their benefits and how they function. The tour continues
through the inspiring Eco-City of Augustenborg. An old and ‘run-down’
neighbourhood that has undergone a unique eco-transformation into
one of Sweden’s greenest.

introduction to the eco-city
project in Augustenborg
and it’s transformation with
focus on social and ecological
sustainability. We start our
walk up on the roofs of the
botanical roof garden. The
tour continues through the
eco-city and the canals and

area’s sustainable stormwater
systems. During the gentle
walk the guide will explain a
range of green investments
which has improved the
residential area.

Malmö by electric boat
BOOKABOAT MALMÖ
Experience Malmö from a quiet and environmentally-friendly electric
boat with complete freedom and flexibility to go wherever you want.
Pack something to eat and drink on board and enjoy a trip through
central Malmö with the first self-drive electric boat hire service in the
Nordic region.

KATRINETORP LANDERI
Visit one of southern Sweden’s most beautiful Christmas markets in a
genuine atmosphere from a 19th century country estate. At Katrinetorp,
you can find traditional, Swedish handicrafts, flowers, Christmas
decorations, a food and produce market, antiquities and a wonderful
Christmas spirit.

Christmas rice pudding,

crystal chandeliers in the main
building from 1831, which is
also host to a large Christmas

estate is old, which means

market stands can accept card
payments.

well preserved empire
establishments, with gardens
and an associated English
landscape park, which are
open to visitors year-round.
The buildings have undergone
a meticulous restoration and
today offer a vibrant historical
atmosphere. Katrinetorp’s
garden café collects Krav
ecolabelled products from
the kitchen garden and
serves both lunch and coffee
with cakes. There is a wellappointed gift shop and
a shop that sells antiques.

CATARINA ROLFSDOTTER
Since Malmö was named Sweden’s first Fairtrade City in 2006,
the city’s organic, fairtrade and recycled offering has been constantly
reinvigorated. In Malmö there are exciting food shops, clothes shops,
restaurants and cafés.

The gripping tale
of the white buses
MALMÖ MUSEER
Come and hear the gripping tale of the ”White Buses” and find out
how Malmö Museum served as a refugee camp. In Spring and Summer
1945 the museum in Malmö provided a temporary home for survivors
from Nazi concentration camps.

by the Red Cross’ White
Buses programme, whose
expeditions were daring and
dramatic missions during a
time of chaos. One of these
White Buses still survives
today and can be found at the
Malmöhus Castle.

in Sweden’s best sea fishingwaters just outside Malmö. We provide fishing
trips to anglers looking to catch primarily cod, as well as other species,

Two hundred metres out to sea there is the possibility to enjoy a wood-fired
sauna and a dip in the sea in any season at the open-air swimming baths
Ribersborgs Kallbadhus. Have a swim with a fantastic view of Öresund, Denmark
and the Turning Torso. Finish off with a Swedish “fika” or a meal in the restaurant.
Ribersborgs Kallbadhus, built in 1898 and carefully restored is one of the

Follow a local guide along the shores of Falsterbonäset and search
for amber under expert guidance. The lucky one might find his or her
precious stone. Amber prospecting and amber carving are skills dating
as far back as the Iron Age in Falsterbo.

We set off from Falsterbo Strandbad and paddle out to Falsterbo Bay.
We enjoy the view of Skanörsljung and Falsterbohus. At the sea border
of the Måkläppen nature reserve, we stop to look at the animal life in the
area. There are both harbour seals and grey seals here, and they are often
curious about our colourful kayaks and come over for a closer look.

from vessels that sank when

This museum is a part of the
government-operated Moderna
Museet in Stockholm, and has
exhibitions featuring both works
from the 20th century along with
interesting contemporary art. The
beautiful premises, dating back
to 1901, were first used by Malmö
Elektricitetsverk as a power station.
At the castle, which is the oldest
preserved Renaissance castle in
the Nordic region, you’ll also find
the Malmö Museum with its newly
opened aquarium. The exhibitions
deal with history, technology,
maritime navigation, and nature.

Architect Santiago Calatrava’s Turning
Torso’s reaches a spectacular 190
metre height and twists 90 degrees
from the base to the top. The torso
is part of the Västra Hamnen, which
certainly is also worth a stroll with
its winding alleys, interesting architecture and super nice beaches and
bathing places.
This is also where you’ll find the
Stapelbäddsparken, a skateboarding
park covering an area of 2,000 square
metres - making it one of the largest
and best such facilities in all of Europe.

The Malmö Festival takes place in the city center of Malmö every year in
August and has something to offer everyone, regardless of age, interest

All of Malmö sparkles and shimmers in the Christmas time.
From the last weekend of November and all the way to Christmas Eve.
With special Christmas markets, carol concerts, atmospheric street
lighting and traditional Swedish Saint Lucia celebrations.
Getting into the spirit of Christmas is easy in Malmö.
ACTIVITY
In Sweden, Christmas is mainly
celebrated on the 24th of
December, when families
gather in richly decorated
homes to feast on Swedish
Christmas treats such as
mustard glazed ham, pickled
herring, meatballs, schnapps
and creamy rice porridge. The
highlight of the evening is
the traditional dance around
the Christmas tree, followed
by a visit by Santa Claus
himself. Usually a neighbor
or male relative in disguise,
he traditionally arrives after
the dancing is done to deliver
the Christmas presents to
expectant children.
In Malmö the Christmas
preparations last throughout
December. On the 13th the
official Saint Lucia of Malmö
is crowned, and then leads
a beautiful procession of
singing, white-clad followers
through the streets. During
the Advent weekends, cozy
Christmas markets take place,
full of locally produced food,
handicraft products, Christmas
sweets, music and dancing.
Both the Christmas market at
Malmöhus Castle and the one
at Katrinetorp, a picturesque
19th century farmhouse on the
outskirts of Malmö, are well
worth a visit!

Foteviken’s Viking Market
FOTEVIKENS MUSEUM
Visit a genuine Viking market in the Viking town of Foteviken
– lively and bustling with a whole host of activities and market stalls.
You will find Vikings selling beautiful handmade jewellery, handicraft
items and Viking swords. One of the major highlights at the market is the
combat display, where you can watch a fantastic reenactement of the
battle of Foteviken, which took place on 4 June 1134!

the end of June every year
Foteviken’s Open Air Museum
is transformed into a bustling
Viking market. In addition
to the wide range of market
traders, you can experience
tug-of-war contests, caber

of genuine Viking combat.
The Viking Market takes place
in the beginning of July.

LUNDA LANDSFILHARMONIKER
The Lundaland Philharmonic Orchestra, with its conductor Kristofer
Wåhlander, is a fully-professional orchestra that is bringing music
to the people. With large gala concerts in barns, stables and other
unconventional locations, the orchestra is spreading classical music
throughout the countryside, to districts not normally visited by orchestras.
