OUHSD Mariachi Festival 2016
Our 6th Period Mariachi Class was the first on at the 2016 OUHSD Mariachi Festival at Pacifica
High School in the Robert Q. Valles Performing Arts Center. It was Dr. Valles who introduced the
idea of offering Mariachi music in the OUHSD schools and ultimately it became a reality. The festival was well attended, the music was great and the energy was high. Here are a couple of shots of
the HHS period 6 Mariachi class and our own Mariachi de Mi Tierra. A big shout out to Dominic
and Tony Rivera for all their hard work and involvement in the program at all the OUHSD schools
except Pacifica, who does not currently offer Mariachi as part of their music curriculum.
