Students can have people sponsor them, encouraging their reading while contributing to our Rock ’n Read-a-thon. Over the years, Rock ’n Read-a-thon profits have been used to build and maintain playground facilities at BES, including the Primary Playground that was installed in August 2014. This year’s profits will go toward Phase II of the Outdoor Classroom, with the goal of installing a butterfly garden this summer. While the PSSA is a high stakes test, we want to impress upon the students that they do not need to be stressed out! Rather we want them to feel prepared, and understand that all we expect of them is to try their best. As a means of preparing your child, the following suggestions are recommended: • Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep. • Make sure your child eats a good breakfast each day of the test. • Tell your child to try his/her best and not give up, even if some of the questions seem difficult. • Discuss with your child the importance of listening closely to the directions. • Reassure your child: Students who are calm and confident do better on this test. • Make sure your child is on time for school on the days of the test (testing begins at 9:30 a.m.) PSSA testing dates are as follows: • English/Language Arts, Grade 3-6: April 13-17 • Math, Grade 3-6: April 20-24 • Science, Grade 4 April 28-29 ••• Reminder: Tutoring begins at 10:35 on Tuesdays and Thursdays when there is a two-hour delay. When you are dropping students off for tutoring, please remember to remain in line and not swing out into the left lane to pass. Also, once you pull up to the sidewalk, students should exit the car on the right. This will empty up to 10 cars at a time and we can move along much quicker. Thank you!
