The Winnie Area Chamber of Commerce held a fundraiser last week at
the home of Rhonda and Stevie Devillier which honored three community lifetime leaders. They were Lilton Sonnier, Gaylon Dunnaway and Paul
Keating. The summertime theme of "Flip-flops, Fajitas and Margaritas"
provided a relaxed event with lots of socializing.

SHERIFF'S OFFICE RECOVERY
SAVES COUNTY $80,000
(WINNIE, TX) — Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne announced
that on 16 July 2013 a truck was stolen from the Chambers County
maintenance yard in Winnie Texas. The vehicle stolen, a 2001 International Duro/Duropatcher used to repair roads was valued at approximately $80,000.
With information provided by an anonymous tip the Criminal Investigations Division initiated follow-up investigations which lead to the eventual recovery of the vehicle in Liberty County. There were personal articles that were recovered inside the vehicle that are being processed in
an attempt to locate possible suspects that were involved in the theft of
the truck. Damage to the stolen vehicle was minimal and the recovery
ultimately saved the county $80,000 dollars in replacement cost.
