JUNE BLOOMS
Thank you for participating in the most recent Rummage Sale and /or if
you bought chicken dinners at the fundraiser this Spring.
Both events were successful.
Johnson City Senior Center needs the support of the members that use the
Center for exercise classes, art and creative expression classes, educational
sessions, daily meals, TOPS, technology assistance, or special events. These
programs are the key to enrich each senior’s social and recreational needs.
Membership fees are tax deductible donation for the user and it also assists
with the Center’s operational needs. After over 15 years or more that cost
was consistent without an increase. This year the board decided to
increase that cost to help offset the increasing utilities and insurance costs.
Every member gets an investment for increasing their life expectancy,
maintaining agility and one’s mental sharpness by using the Center’s
activities often. That is priceless! Keep doing this for YOU!
I want to share two golden program opportunities coming to JCSC that I
am proud to offer our members this summer. Through our association
with NYCON we have been granted one or more major musical acts from
leading musicians in the area. As soon as these special occasions are
confirmed, they will be posted and advertised. There will be no fee for
these performances and we are lucky to have these top musical acts right
in our own dining room!
Another special educational session that will be offered this month is:
“Food Safety 101”
June 15
2:30pm
This training program is designed to educate older adults about the basics
of food safety and to empower them to follow the steps needed to prevent
foodborne illnesses in the home. This one hour training will feature
safe-handling practices, instructional videos and handouts. The USDA
made this opportunity available to our Center’s seniors. It is open to any
member, volunteer or staff from other centers to attend.
Don’t miss this session!
It is an honor to host these special occasions at
Johnson City Senior Center!
Darlene Leonard, Executive Director
Hours: Weekdays 9:00—4:00
Fridays, closing at 2PM
