AD6062 Mediaroom - Apple Vacations background
company
profile
Overview – Apple Vacations started operations in Pennsylvania in August 1969.
With more than 40 years of operation under the same management, Apple Vacations
has grown to become one of the largest tour operators in North America. Apple
carries more vacationers to Mexico and the Dominican Republic than any tour
operator worldwide, and is among the nation’s largest tour operators
to the Caribbean, Costa Rica and the Hawaiian Islands.
Product – Apple Vacations is one of only a few tour operators nationally to operate
full-risk charter programs, with exclusive vacation flights to Mexico, the Caribbean
and Costa Rica. In 2012, Apple will operate more than 150 winter and 100 summer
Apple-dedicated flights each week. Apple Vacations also holds contracts with most
major scheduled air carriers, and offers vacation packages from departure cities
nationwide to more than 40 beach destinations throughout Mexico/Latin America,
the Caribbean and Hawaii. Additionally, Apple Vacations offers European city
stays, escorted tours and river cruises, and ski vacations to popular US and Canada
ski resorts. Through long-standing relationships with airlines and hotel companies,
Apple Vacations is able to offer its customers the best value and service, along with
the widest range of product offerings. Apple Vacations offers air-only, land-only and
complete air/hotel vacation packages, and is an industry leader in selling
all-inclusive vacation packages.
Technology – Apple Vacations are sold online and through its reservation call
centers in Philadelphia and Chicago. Travel agents are Apple Vacations’ primary
distribution channel. Users have direct online access to the Apple Vacations
reservations and tour management system, providing immediate availability and
pricing, and online booking, guarantee and payment application. This multi-million
dollar investment in technology includes partnerships with SAP America, IBM,
Cisco and Microsoft.
Service – Apple Vacations Representatives provide personalized service to Apple
Vacations customers in resort. Apple Representatives greet customers at the airport,
guide them to their hotel transfers, host welcome briefings and hold desk hours at
many hotels. Apple Vacations is one of the most trusted and respected tour operators
in the United States, largely due to extremely high levels of customer service as
provided by Apple Representatives. Client satisfaction is carefully and consistently
monitored through Vacation Satisfaction Questionnaires distributed to all customers.
The company’s mission is to provide the widest range of high quality, competitivelypriced vacation packages with an unparalleled level of service and expertise.
Apple Vacations Representatives are provided by AMSTAR or other independent
destination management companies.
Marketing & Sales – Apple Vacations has consistently outpaced other operators
and travel suppliers with its high visibility advertising, and innovative marketing and
promotional programs. Its travel catalogs are highly reputed as the best in the
industry. The Apple Vacations’ consumer website, applevacations.com, receives
more than one million visits per month. The company has the strongest travel agent
loyalty program in travel, with more than 60,000 active “Royalties” members.
