The Three Little Worms Get I - Highlights in the Classroom
The Three Little
Squirmy, Wormy, and Mortimer were playing jump rope with
Bucky Bug.
“This exercise is good for getting into shape,” said Bucky. “But
can we stop and rest?”
“Sure,” said Squirmy. “You just gave me an idea. While you
rest, we’ll get into shapes. Watch!”

By David L. Roper • Art by Logan S. Kline
First they made a circle.
Then they made a rectangle.
Then they made a square.
They even made a triangle.

“Now let’s make a star!” said Wormy. But when they started
twisting and turning, they got very confused.
“I don’t think we’re in the shape of a star,” said Squirmy.
Bucky said, “No, you’re in the shape of a Squirmy-WormyMortimer tangle.”
“Let’s try again,” said Wormy. “Bucky can tell us what to do.”

“You did it! You made a star!” said Bucky.
“What can we do now?” asked Squirmy.
“Let’s play jump rope again,” said Wormy.
“OK,” said Mortimer. “But this time someone else can be the
jump rope!”
