33RD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
NOVEMBER 17, 20 1 3
This Sunday we continue our journey towards the end
of the Year of Faith and towards the celebration of
Christ the King. The scriptures guide us in a deeper
reflection of the End Times and the future that lies
beyond this world.
Este domingo continuamos nuestro viaje hacia el final del Año de la fe y hacia la celebración de Cristo
Rey. Las Escrituras nos guían en una reflexión más
profunda de los últimos tiempos y el futuro que está
más allá de este mundo.
In Luke 21 the people of Israel admired the temple in
Jerusalem. The temple would have amazed anyone
who looked upon it. Indeed, many regard it as one of
the eight ancient wonders of the world! Yet, even as
they gazed at the seemingly immovable structure, Jesus prophetically sobers them: "there will not be left a
stone upon another stone that will not be thrown
down."
En Lucas 21 el pueblo de Israel admira el templo de
Jerusalén. El templo habría sorprendido a cualquiera
que lo viera. De hecho, muchos lo consideran como
una de las ocho maravillas del mundo antiguo! Sin
embargo, incluso mientras miraban a la estructura
aparentemente inamovible, Jesús proféticamente les
decía que: "no quedaría piedra sobre piedra que no
sea derribara."
In 70 AD, the temple was indeed destroyed by the
Roman army under the command of the future Emperor Titus.

Yet, the prophecy of Jesus had much deeper meaning
than the localized terror in Jerusalem. He pointed to
the mystery of the temporal nature of this world and
the necessity to be dis-attached from it. We are on a
journey. It is a journey of evil and of grace; a journey of suffering and of joy.

¿COMO REZAR ?
¿Cómo rezar hoy? ¿Recitando
simplemente fórmulas hechas de
modo rutinario? No. Palabras dichas sin pensar son palabras sin
sentido y las palabras sin sentido
no pueden ser auténtica oración.
Shakespeare pone en boca de
Hamlet esta aguda expresión, muy
apropiada al respecto:
<<Palabras sin pensar no llegan
al cielo>>. Ahora bien, esto no
quiere decir que algunas fórmulas
hechas no sirvan para hacer oración. Por ejemplo, la oración del
<<Padrenuestro>> es una fórmula
hecha que nos enseño el mismo
Jesús. Todo depende de cómo se
rece este <<Padrenuestro>>. Si se
hace de una manera rutinaria y
anodina no será auténtica oración,
en cambio, si uno sabe profundizar
en lo que dice, este mismo
<<Padrenuestro>> puede convertirse en la más genuina de las plegarias.
Rezar significa dialogar amistosamente con Dios-Padre, y para
activar este diálogo disponemos de
unos medios muy concretos: la
lectura reposada de la Palabra revelada contenida en la Biblia, la
contemplación de las maravillas de
la naturaleza, la profundización de
los signos de los tiempos y de los
acontecimientos de la historia, a
través de los cuales. Dios también
se manifiesta.
Y ¿cómo ha de ser nuestra oración? Ha de ser humilde, llena de
confianza filial y perseverante; una
oración donde la petición vaya
después de la alabanza y de la acción de gracias. Finalmente, tener
muy en cuenta que nuestra vida
cotidiana no puede entrar en contradicción, con nuestra oración, de
lo contrario ésta no sería sincera.
El Dios de nuestra oración no puede ser distinto del Dios de nuestra
oración no puede ser distinto del
Dios de nuestra conducta.
El silencio es necesario para encontrarnos con Dios. La oración
cristiana es sobre todo escucha en
el silencio. Abrirnos a Dios-Padre
en el silencio, escuchando su Palabra revelada es, sin duda, un gran
método de oración. En la oración,
nosotros debemos ser los oyentes y
Dios el que habla. Él tiene el mensaje y nuestra oración debe consistir en acogerlo con fidelidad.
Ejercitemos la oración de la escucha. Los creyentes no seremos
capaces de decir una palabra válida a nuestro mundo si antes no la
hemos escuchado y asimilado en la
paz de la plegaria, en el silencio
del corazón.
Con demasiada frecuencia, en
nuestra oración, forzamos a Dios a
que ejerza el papel de <<oyente>>,
cuando los oyentes deberíamos ser
nosotros. Una forma maravillosa
de orar es la escucha, la escucha en
el silencio. Una escucha que a su
vez es llamada a proclamar ante el
mundo la bondad de Dios. Los creyentes en Jesús antes debemos ser
discípulos que apóstoles. Antes de
hablar debemos escuchar. La escucha de la palabra de Dios en un
clima de silencio es una forma
muy acertada de orar. Es verdad
que la oración también es palabra,
palabra de alabanza, palabra de
acción de gracias, palabra de petición, pero no olvidemos que la
escucha de la PALABRA, en mayúscula, también es una manera
excelente de orar. Rezar no consiste en decir muchas palabras, sino
en saber acoger la Palabra revelada
que nos transforma.
Pidamos a Dios el don del silencio profundo, de la escucha atenta,
de la acogida generosa de su Palabra.

Youth Group is open to any
and all high school students,
both those who are enrolled
in confirmation, and those
who are just hanging out
with their friends. There is
no cost, so please drop in.
Our semester kicks off in
January, and will run
through the end of the
school year.
Youth Group meets every
Tuesday, from 6:30pm8:00pm in the gym. We
alternate between open gym
hangouts and fellowship, to
bible study and discipleship.
We always provide great
food, and there’s sure to be
some fun. Once a month,
we offer a large group outreach called “Community
Group Night”. These nights
start at 4:30pm in the gym
and are open to all families.
We encourage families who
aren’t able to attend the programming before, to come
and join us for an energetic
mass, followed with some
great food afterwards in the
gym.
Finally, if anyone is inter-
ested in free tutoring, please
contact Jonathan, as there
are qualified tutors from
around the city willing to
help the youth of our parish
grow in their academic pursuits as well.

This year we will have monthly youth group meetings for all Junior High Students. The youth

for some service projects every 3rd Saturday of the month. These projects will all be at Resurrection Catholic Church.
