EARLY CHILDHOOD DIVISION
The Academy’s award-winning Early Childhood Division is overflowing! Several new
classes will be added this Fall, and rooms are being renovated to accommodate the everincreasing enrollment. A visit by State Senator Sandra Williams showcased the exuberance
and vitality of this division. The Senator was impressed by the passion of the teachers and
the enthusiasm of the children. From learning the parsha to imbibing a love for Israel and
social skills, the children are thriving under the dedicated care of their teachers and aides.
4
GIRLS ELEMENTARY DIVISION
In this Shmittah Year, students learned about the special qualities of Israel
and the mesiras nefesh of farmers willing to keep the mitzvah of Shmittah.
Students collected funds to help farmers. Mitzvos are taught in such a loving
manner that one young group even set up a neighborhood hot cocoa
stand to raise money for maos chitim.
Hands on activities helped third graders learn about the solar system;
trips to Century Village and Lake FarmPark taught fourth graders about
colonial life and local produce sustainability; a trip to the Western Reserve
Historical Society showed fifth graders how to use primary documents in
research projects.

BIGS AND LITTLES MENTORING PROGRAM
“Bigs and Littles,” a proactive program that pairs younger girls with positive
mentors, is a source of delight and gratification to all who participate. The smiles
on the faces of both the “Bigs” and “Littles” attest to the wonderful relationships that
are formed through weekly outings, joint events and a year-end finale with crafts,
food, and friendship.
CRYSTAL APPLE
AWARD
PRESIDENT’S DAY
PROGRAMS
Mrs. Bonnie Spiegle with the Northeast
Ohio Media Group presented this year’s Crystal
Apple Award to Mrs. Jan Braverman, an
enrichment teacher and elementary school
facilitator of Columbia University’s Writers Workshop. Beatrice Stone Yavne High School senior
Tova Mahalli nominated Mrs. Braverman
for this award because of Mrs. Braverman’s
encouragement and teaching that enabled
her to achieve success in school.
Under the talented Mr. Yudi Silber, our elementary school divisions
gave thanks to the generosity of the United States of America that allows
us to live as observant Jews and that provides continuous support to Israel.
Girls grades 1-3 held one assembly, and a separate assembly was held for
grades 1-3 boys. It is never too early to inculcate hakaras hatov, gratitude
into the hearts and minds of our students.
6
YESHIVA KETANA DIVISION
So many mishnayos learned, milestones reached, siyumim celebrated! The talmidim have
gone from chayil l’chayil, strength onwards. Project BEAM has once again fostered a love of
Torah and maasim tovim. The Cocoa Club has become a staple and a vital part of starting the
morning right. The sound of enthusiastic students and dedicated Rebbeim fills the corridors.
The highlight of the sixth grade is the annual Gedolim Fair. This year, sixth grade students
studied boat building techniques such as buoyancy and displacement of water. With
partners, they built actual boats that floated in the high school pool.Other
classes took part in Writers Workshop and published essays on wideranging research topics.
KOLLEL ATERES NOCHUM ZEV
Kollel Ateres Nochum Zev,
the Academy’s innovative
school-based kollel , had
another productive year. In
addition to serving as role
models and mentors who
developed relationships with
Junior High and High School
students, the members of the
Kollel served as chavrusos
to the boys and routinely
opened their homes for Friday night Oneg Shabbos and Shabbos meals. Summer Shabbos seder and Motzei Shabbos programs
were well-attended and voluntary shiurim were presented to seventh graders and eighth graders throughout the week.
In so many ways, Kollel Ateres Nochum Zev and its families bring a unique energy to the school and to the broader community.

YESHIVA HIGH SCHOOL
National Merit Recognitions
The partnership between the Yeshiva High School and
Kollel Ateres Nochum Zev has boosted the level of hasmadah
and hislahavus, fervent learning in the Beis Medrash. Meaningful
relationships have been forged between members of the
Kollel and high school talmidim. This keenness for learning
has been boosted further by many in-school Shabbatonim,
melave malkahs, and guest lectures by renowned Torah
personalities. An end-of-the-year trip to the Lake Erie Locks
and Toronto included visits with Toronto Rabbonim and
concluded with a stop at the magnificent Niagara Falls.
The talmidim continue to do chesed by visiting nursing
homes and helping out at a Federation cemetery clean-up
project. The talmidim prepared a gala Lag B’omer bonfire
which was greatly enjoyed by many community participants.
Dovid Judkovich, a senior in
Yeshiva High School, has received the
National Merit Rockwell Automation
Scholarship from the National Merit
Scholarship Corporation. Dovid is
one of about 1,000 distinguished
high school seniors around the
country that received this award.
Dani Mosenkis and Menachem
Goldfarb, fellow seniors, were
commended with scores in the top 14% of the nation.
11
YAVNE HIGH SCHOOL
Our talmidos have immersed themselves in learning and maasim
tovim. The Irving I. Stone M’Yad L’Yad Tzeddakah Committee
hosted a Teacher Auction that raised $1,500 for Keren Hashviis, an
organization supporting farmers who keep Shmittah. Yavne students
represented the Academy at the Jewish Federation of Cleveland,
and their Torah commentaries were featured in the Cleveland Jewish
News. Students had leadership roles in Matan BSayser, the Cleveland
Kosher Food Bank, and other worthy causes.
This year’s community production
featured songs and dance written and
performed by all the students in the
high school. Yavne’s Art Festival
featured works of art created by
all grade levels. The Lag B’Omer
trip to Niagara Falls cemented
the many wonderful friendships
across grade levels and highlighted the tremendous achdus,
unity that characterizes this
division.

PTA
The Academy continues to benefit from a creative and devoted
PTA headed by Mrs. Ruti Wolf and Mrs. Malky Traube. A new and
ingenious project was a school wide Health Fair that focused on the
importance of exercise, proper nutrition, and a balanced approach
to life. One project that has become an annual highlight is the
Chinese Auction that was adeptly chaired by Mrs. Karen Fireman
and Mrs. Frumi Pollak. Another annual event, anticipated by all, is
the PTA’s Fun Run and Carnival. Coordinators Mrs. Sara Farkas and
Mrs. Hillary Gecovich and their committees put together a heartwarming afternoon with rocket rides, bounce slides, food, and a
relay race. The initiative and commitment of PTA has enhanced the
camaraderie between parents and benefitted the entire school.
