The word pourquoi is French for “why.” Long ago, people observed the world around them and created pourquoi tales to answer questions they had about how things came to be the way they are. The students wrote a pourquoi tale that explains why an animal is the way it is today. We focused on the writing process. The students brainstormed ideas, completed a graphic organizer with their ideas, a rough draft, revisions, edited with a peer, edited with the teacher, and finally published. We then shared our Pourquoi Tales with our classmates. ! $ % & ' ' ( ) ' ' ' % % Catprints ' ' ) "# ' * * ) * 9 !""" #$ % ()*! . $ & '" + ,-"" + / !"*' !
