We recently stopped in to see how he was adjusting to his new life. Here is what Laurie, the owner of the store had to say. “I was so glad to hear that you were in the store today to visit Romeo. Isnʼt he great? People LOVE him. Theyʼll come in and either head straight for him or ask where ʻthe catʼ is. He is absolutely perfect for our store. He is supremely self-confident – will walk up to anyone, sit in front of them and look up waiting for the adoration that he is certain will be bestowed upon him. Iʼm so grateful to everyone at the shelter for pointing him out to me.” Laurie invited VFA to the storeʼs one year anniversary to help celebrate and promote Romeoʼs former home. We packed up the RV, some kittens, Bo the dog and off we went. We had a great time. We got to visit with Romeo, meet some wonderful people and enjoy the jazz music. Bo was the perfect pup. He was great with the kids, enjoyed the sun and was really into the jazz music. And best of all, one of our cats went home! Many thanks to Laurie, Laura, and all the staff at USA Bird Supply for making it such a nice day for the animals. And thanks for adopting a shelter kitty for your store - Romeo has a great life with you all! 9th Annual Fur Ball Will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at The Days Inn in Batavia. The event will include appetizers and desserts along with a large Chinese Auction, a bicycle raffle, and silent auctions as well as a 50/50 drawing. Last year, many businesses supported our Fur Ball event through corporate sponsorships, ticket purchases, or contributions to our Chinese and silent auctions. We hope that you will join us this year in supporting our efforts to raise money for the Spay/Neuter Program for cats and dogs at the Genesee County Animal Shelter. If you would like to help sponsor or donate, please visit our website at www.vol4animals.org or call 585-409-4617 for more information. Enclosed is a flyer that we would appreciate you displaying for the public whether it is at school, church or work - every little bit helps! Thank you for your consideration. Your support is greatly appreciated. Consider the possibilities. TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE Last year we collected $885 from your empty returnable bottles and cans. This year should be even better since water bottles are now included. Keep up the sipping. A huge Thanks to Carlson’s Studio! Their pet portrait day in March made $420 for the animals at the Shelter. Thanks to everyone who came out to support the animals. This spring we had five hot dog stands at Walmart. It was busy and productive - we made almost $2000. Hard to believe a few dogs add up to so much. Our 4th Annual Garage Sale in June made over $1000 and the rain closed us out early on Saturday! Thank you to everyone who gave us stuff to sell and those who stopped and shopped. Our eBay store is hoppin’. Not a day goes by that something does not sell. And our buyers are from all over the US and Canada. Many of them are animal lovers and are glad to make purchases that help animals regardless of where they reside. Our average earnings from eBay is between $300 and 400 per month. And best of all, everything is donated. These dog beds, made by Lazy Hound Hotel, are sturdy, comfortable, chew resistant and dramatically reduce the laundry load. The sturdy PVC frame and woven vinyl fabric is easily sanitized with bleach or disinfectant. Dogs enjoy the comfort of the raised bed which gives them a soft and dry place to relax off the wet, cold floor. There are three beds (small, medium and large), each a separate drawing. The drawing will be held at the Hogs for Paws event Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Stan’s Harley Davidson. BRAND NEW BICYCLE OF YOUR CHOICE Value up to $350 at Adam Miller Toy and Bicycle in Batavia, NY THE DRAWING WILL BE HELD AT THE 9th ANNUAL FUR BALL ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2011 AT THE DAYS INN IN BATAVIA. RAFFLE TICKETS ARE $1 EACH OR 6 TICKETS FOR $5. RAFFLE TICKETS CAN BE PURCHASED AT THE GENESEE COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER, FROM VOLUNTEERS OR AT THE EVENT.
