Launched on November 3rd, 2012, Judah dal Cais,
the founder of T3 Honu, created the club to inspire
and motivate members to train and race “for
ourselves and our families.” The T3 vision is simple:
As a club, our members will grow as we discover, evolve,
challenge, experience, take risks, break boundaries in
pursuit of a lifetime of health & fitness..
in getting us up and running!
We began our first season with four goals:
1.
2.
Another big thanks to our other sponsors: Endurance
Athlete Center, Mike’s Mix, Tri360, Ballston BID, and
Mercedes Benz of Arlington.
Promote health & fitness,
education, and training for
multisport athletic events
Jesse Kieffer – Because of your dedication and the many
late night hours you put into creating cutting edge
swimming, cycling, and running workouts, club members
have an extensive library to take advantage of. Mahalo

T3 Honu Board: Judah dal Cais (President), Dave Kulik
(Secretary), Ted Adams III (Treasurer), and Jon-Paul
deLange, Leah Haskevitz, Caroline Mah, Jenn Peregoy,
and Matt Seiler (Board Members)
Financially, the club raised more than $13,000 in
revenue and was solvent at the end of the season.
Because of the energy and enthusiasm for the T3
Honu idea, and the efforts of each member of the
club, we have successfully met each goal.
Thank You Team!

Community Community Phoenix Bikes provide a fun, safe, and
challenging environment for local youth
through building & running a great
community bike shop.
Teaching bike repair, mechanics, and an
entrepreneurial spirit, Phoenix Bikes offer
local youth real-world skills and education
that will better prepare them for the future.
In our inaugural season the Honu donated
$2,500 from our crab fest to support a great
cause for great local kids.
Martha’s Table helps 1,100 people a day deal
with the immediate effects of poverty and finds
long-term solutions with education, nutrition,
and family support services. Martha’s Table
addresses emergency needs with food and
clothing programs and breaks the long cycle of
poverty with education and family
strengthening programs. More than 10,000
people volunteer each year and learn about the
value of helping their neighbors.
Thanks to the heroic efforts of
Jennifer Peregoy, T3 Honu supported Martha’s
Table every month during the 2013 season by
volunteering to distribute meals to the homeless
in Washington, DC.
T3 Honu looks forward to continuing its
support to Martha’s Table in the 2014 Season.

The Honu For native Hawai’ians the sea turtle, or honu, symbolizes
longevity, peace, good luck, humility, long life, and the spirit of
aloha within us. T3 was founded on those principles.
Legend tells about a green sea turtle, Kauila, who
could change herself into a girl to watch over the
children playing at Punalu'u Beach on the Big
Island. When Kauila's mother dug her nest, a
fresh water spring surged upward,
quenching the children's thirst. Kauila is
the "mythical mother" of all turtles, and
perhaps of our children as well. It's also
said that turtles were the guides for the
first voyagers to Hawai’i.

Looking Toward 2014 Save the date and join our ohana for the end of season party and 2014 Kick Off Meeting:
November 23rd, 2013 5:30-‐7PM 2014 promises to be an exciting year for the club. We look forward to listening to your feedback
from the 2013 season and making T3 Honu an even more enjoyable experience.
New in 2014: •
We’ve established a training library of workouts for our members, which are accessible
through the website.
•
In addition, we plan to build on our cycling workouts by adding more open water swims
and group swims.
•
Every race will have a captain who will act as the primary point of contact for planning and
execution from training through to race day and everything in between.
•
We will conduct more training by ability groups. Note: You are always welcome to train with
anyone else from the team regardless of ability.
•
Look for mini-surveys throughout the season to gather
feedback.
•
More social events.
•
Focus will be on two race events during the season.
Also, please complete our online survey beforehand. You’ll
find it at:

Cherry Blossom 10 Miler Founded in 1973 as a training event for elite runners
planning to compete in the Boston Marathon, the Cherry
Blossom Ten Miler has become a favorite local event for
runners of all abilities. The racecourse tours many historic
and memorable sights in Washington, DC and is part of the
National Cherry Blossom Festival to celebrate the
friendship between Japan and the United States. T3 Honu
volunteers manned the water station at mile marker six
where 17,532 racers received water, Gatorade, and lots of
support in the final stretch of the race.
