A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRESIDENT
Liebe Mitglieder - Dear Members,
This July 8th marks the fiftieth anniversary of sale of the old club building at 205 E. 6th Street in
Wilmington to the city for $27,000. In the next few years we will have the opportunity to celebrate
the important anniversaries related to the relocation and rebuilding of the club at its present
location. An important part of these celebrations will be the recognition of the unselfish dedication
of the remarkable men and women who saved the club and made it the dynamic organization it is
today.
Under the Constitution the President has the responsibility of appointing the Advisory Committee.
To serve on the Committee members must be known for their dedication to the club and have
served on the Board of Directors. Mrs. Hilde Cox, Mr. Alfred Escheu, Mr. Richard Miller, Mr.
Simon Schock and Mr. Brian Schulz have consented to serve on this committee.
The Second Brewmasters Dinner will take place on Thursday September 17th. This an ideal event
for those who enjoy good beer, fine food including a roast pig and the spirit of Oktoberfest without
the crowds. Please view the club website for details.
Mit freundlichen Grüßen,
Carl Renner
The Singers
The Singers performed their Frühlingskonzert on May 2nd which was well attended. On June 12th,
approximately 20 members and guests of the Chorus traveled to Pittsburgh for the 52nd
Saengerfest of the Nordöstlicher Sängerbund.
The members of the Chorus would like to thank the Delaware Saengerbund for their continued
support and wish everyone a happy and safe summer!
For the Singers, Keith Farmer
The Ladies
Ladies meeting in August is scheduled for Monday August 31st at 7:30 pm in the VSR. New

. OKTOBERFEST COMMITTEE
Planning is well under way for this year’s Oktoberfest. Volunteer sign-ups have already begun,
and will continue at the August General Member’s Meeting with Free Beer and Sodas offered. Be
sure to come and sign up if you have not already.
The pre-Oktoberfest Committee Chairs Meeting will be held on August 24th at 7:30 pm in the
Deutsche Halle. Completed sign-up and ticket forms should be turned in at this time by the
Committee Chairs. This is so that we can assess the need for additional volunteers and begin
preparation of the worker packets which will contain parking passes, meal tickets and wrist bands
for our volunteers.
Advance Sale tickets for Oktoberfest will be available to Members at the August and September
meetings for the discounted price of $5.
