Teams stay at the Myrtlewood Villas luxury condominiums with TV's, washer & dryer, 2 bathrooms, 2-3
bedrooms, and gift certificates (BASEBALL BUCKS) for each team member to be used for concessions,
gift shop/merchandise and more - maximize flexibility and convenience.

All teams participating in our summer week-long tournaments can
expect the following in regards to the game schedule for the summer
week-long tournaments:
• Check-in, opening ceremonies and skills competitions on Sunday
• 5 scheduled pool play games Monday through Wednesday
• 2 separate single elimination brackets starting on Thursday morning
• First round and quarter final round on Thursday
• Semi-Finals and Championship (both brackets) on Friday

the fields
The Ripken Experience – Myrtle Beach consists of
five youth fields and two 90-foot diamonds.
Each field is designed symmetrically after a legendary
professional ballpark – Shibe Park, Navin Field,
The Polo Grounds and others. At each field a large sign
explains that field’s historical significance to the game
and gives each visitor a brief history lesson.
Each diamond is equipped with lights for night
games and features covered dugouts. Shady
trees and professional-quality outfield walls
surround each field – even with other games
going on throughout the complex, this unique
design gives the feeling of seclusion to players
and fans alike.
In between games take a break at the Welcome Center, complete
with concessions, indoor and outdoor seating, rest rooms, merchandise
store and an on-site photography booth – view tournament photos
at one of several computer kiosks and purchase mementos on site!
Additional rest rooms and concession stations are situated throughout
the complex. The winding road throughout the complex makes for a
scenic walk or even a ride on one of our circling courtesy shuttles.
All 9u, 10u, 11u and 12u tournament games are played solely at
The Ripken Experience complex; 13u, 14u and 15u/16u tournament
teams will play up to two of their pool play games at high quality
satellite fields, in close proximity to The Ripken Experience complex.

training island
Cal, Jr. and Bill Ripken personally designed this state-of-the-art training island to provide a firstclass practice venue for camps, clinics, and pre-game activities. With structures to help facilitate
learning and practicing all facets of the game, the training island is a perfect compliment to the
quality fields at The Ripken Experience – Myrtle Beach. Here is a description of what you will find
on the Training Island:
Batting Cages – With 24 batting cages throughout the island,
there is ample space for individuals to work on their swings.
During summer tournaments, each team will have one to
themselves for their full pre-game activities. One grouping of
cages also features a demonstration/teaching area complete
with bleachers for team/group clinics.
Pitching Mounds – The training island features 14 pitching
mounds that are all adaptable to four different pitching
distances (46’, 50’, 54’, and 60’6”). In addition to the mounds,
there is also a specialty triangular field perfect for practicing
pick-offs to 1st and 2nd base as well as pitchers covering first
on groundballs.
Bunting Fields – There are 3 total bunting
fields located on the training island, one regulation
and two youth. These distinctive triangular shaped
turf fields allow teams and/or individuals to practice
the art of bunting or to simply utilize the space for
playing catch.
Practice Infields – The unique design of Cal, Jr. and
Bill’s practice infields allows teams to work players through a multitude of fielding drills
simultaneously or to execute that all-important round of infield before a game. Other
potential uses of this versatile space include: 2 different sets of 6-4-3 double plays,
base running drills and catchers working on pick-off throws. There are 3 total practice
infields at the Myrtle Beach facility (2 youth sized and 1 regulation). POWERED BY

Included in your tournament package, each player and coach will receive an UNLIMITED all-access
pass to many Myrtle Beach attractions. This pass will grant admission from Sunday through Saturday
of your tournament week. Additional all-access passes are also available for purchase by families

playground, interactive arcade, and a snack bar for everyone to
enjoy!
With twists, turns, rides and slides for all
ages, Myrtle Waves Water Park is a cool
way to spend a hot summer day. With more
than 30 rides and one million gallons of
water, Myrtle Waves also boasts a special
children's area and award-winning lifeguards for your safety! Catcha-wave at the Ocean in Motion wave pool or spend the day with the
tots at our Tad Pool. Parents and coaches can even relax on the Lazy
River while the team dives into the action. Myrtle Waves is located
across the street from The Ripken Experience!

& Driving Range are for the

Patch features an 18-hole course, and a lighted driving range where
clubs are supplied at no charge.

Included in your tournament package, each team will have access to two or three (depending on
team size) luxury condominiums at beautiful Myrtlewood Villas, where the coaches and players
will live like All-Stars. There are two (2) twin beds in each room and a sleeper sofa in the living

Location: Myrtlewood Villas is located along the stunning fairways of Myrtlewood Golf Club and
less than one mile from Broadway at the Beach - home to Myrtle Beach’s prime shopping, dining
and entertainment. The Ripken Experience is just 4 stoplights down the road – about a five
minute drive from the Villas.
Check-in/Out: Check-in at Myrtlewood Villas is
after 4:00 PM on the Sunday of your tournament week.
Check out is prior to 10:00 AM the following Friday morning.
Food for the Week: The Ripken Experience
will provide each team member with BASEBALL
BUCKS to be used for concessions, gift
shop/merchandise and more at the Ripken
Experience. Stock the kitchen and plan your
own meals – no set meal schedule to work
around!

At The Ripken Experience- Myrtle Beach facility, each baseball field is constructed with the
popular synthetic playing surface, FieldTurf™, used by many professional and collegiate
teams worldwide. Consistent play, elimination of rain outs and the reduction of the risk for
injuries, are among the many benefits that FieldTurf™ provides.
The History: The FieldTurf™ concept is simple. Looks
Like Grass… Feels Like Grass… Plays Like Grass. The
best surface for athletic contests for baseball is good
natural grass, and synthetic turf should be like grass, not
carpet. The FieldTurf™ inventors wanted to develop a
synthetic system that offered the beneficial biomechanical
properties of natural grass, combined with the best
attributes of a durable synthetic system: all-weather
playability, low maintenance, and unlimited playing time.
What is FieldTurf™ made of? FieldTurf™ does not rely
on an underlying shock pad for safety, resilience and
player comfort. Rather, like its natural grass cousin, the
FieldTurf™ grass fibers are surrounded and stabilized by
a special blend of “synthetic earth” - the patented mixture
of smooth, rounded silica sand, rubber
granules, and Nike Grind made of re-ground athletic
shoe material. The rubber granules are tire rubber that is
cryogenically frozen, shattered into smooth, clean, rounded
particles, sized and shaped to stay “in suspension” with the
sand, which is of a similar size, shape and weight. The sand
and rubber are precision layered to guarantee uniformity,
with an installation process that is also patented.

Rain? Say goodbye to rainouts! It’s a known fact that
in the summer months there will be rain showers. With
FieldTurf™, this absorbent surface can drain 6 inches
of rain per hour! During your tournament there will not
be any waiting time for the field to dry or days where
games will be cancelled. FieldTurf™ provides a safe and
consistent playing surface no matter the weather.
Heat? FieldTurf™ also uses a special irrigation system to
keep the ground and players cool during hot afternoon
games.
Safety? There have been numerous tests and studies
completed about the rate of injuries from players that play
on FieldTurf™ versus other playing surfaces. Statistics
show that the number of injuries reported- both long term
and short term- were significantly lower on FieldTurf™
surfaces compared to natural grass or any other synthetic
playing surface.
