Important Prerequisite Your TouchTunes Conversion Kit has been designed and provided as an economical solution for converting your previous jukebox into a full-fledged TouchTunes digital jukebox by integrating with many of your currently installed components. As such, the successful installation of your conversion kit requires that your current hardware be in good working condition. Before proceeding with installation of this kit, it is imperative that you verify that all currently installed electronic components are fully functional. You must also inspect the cabinet or enclosure to ensure that it has not sustained damage that would inhibit or prevent the installation of any equipment provided with the kit— either internally installed functional components, or externally applied aesthetic enhancements. Note: Installing a TouchTunes Conversion Kit does not fix a broken jukebox! Estimated Time to Complete the Installation The degree of complexity and time to complete the conversion may vary slightly from model to model, and may depend upon the installer’s experience and comfort level with working with electronic equipment and power tools. TouchTunes’ installation team has determined that a typical installation can usually be completed in 2 1/2 hours. Workflow The procedures described here, based on the experience of TouchTunes’ expert installation personnel, represent a logical sequence of events and best practices for accomplishing your conversion within the least time and with minimal difficulty. In general, the basic procedures are: 1. Removal of old components: Removal creates space for the installation of the new equipment and allows for a clean, compact, and clutter-free installation with easy access to all components. This section also describes the necessary components to leave in the jukebox. 2. Installation of new components: This procedure involves installation of all TouchTunes components in the jukebox enclosure, conversion of the current amplifier, and modification of the door (as required). 3. Testing and activation of the converted jukebox: This procedure allows you to verify the success of your installation. NOTE: These procedures are described in detail in the following subsections. Power supply TouchTunes JCB layout connection J1 Connection from squid cable Hard drive This is the control panel of your JCB Ethernet Connection The Power supply and JCB are mounted to a mounting board for ease of installation. The mounting board is perforated so it can be separated to ease installations by mounting the power supply away from the JCB, due to space constrictions in some kit models. The following components will be used in conjunction with your TouchTunes Conversion Kit and will remain in the jukebox after conversion. • • • • • • Any Lights and Wiring “Rock-ola Power Supply” Speaker Crossover Cable that connected the Speaker Crossover to the Rock-ola Amplifier Coin Mechanism and Bracket Speakers and SpeakerWiring Please remove the following parts: • • • • • • CD Changer Title Page Unit Amplifier and wooden ring around Amplifier Keyboard and Buttons and Display Bill Acceptor Title Page Glass Cleaning It is very important to clean your jukebox. Proper airflow is crucial to the maintenance of your TouchTunes Digital jukebox. Cleaning the inside of the cabinet, especially with alcohol, is important for proper adhesion of certain hardware; as well as easy location and identification of new and old wires. Take time now to organize and dress all remaining wires, using the cabinet’s existing wire loops. The kit will be easiest to clean before installing any TouchTunes components. However, certain steps will allow you to reach different areas of the cabinet and door, so be sure to clean as you go. Assembly ID Box and Antenna Assembly Before attaching any components to your jukebox, test fit them to ensure that the appropriate connections can then be made and other jukebox components (new and old) will allow proper clearance. When installing a JCB squid cable, it is essential that you pre-fit the harness. • • Remove the ID box from the mounting board. Connect the ID box to the antenna extension cable. ID Box and Antenna Assembly (conti.) • Connect the J5 from the Squid cable to the other side of the ID box. (See Figure 1.1) 1. Figure 1.1 J5 from Squid Cable • • Antenna Cable (300299-50) 50) Reinstall the ID box. Mount the RF module (antenna see picture 1. 1.2). Figure 1.2 Antenna RF module • • Fasten the antenna to either the inside or outside rear of the cabinet. (Connecting Connecting to the outside rear will provide the best possible reception for the RF Remote.) Connect the antenna using the extension cable from the ID box. Converting the Main Enclosure • • • • To reach the proper TouchTunes components, the speaker crossover must be moved from its original location to a higher one.. (See Blue Arrow in Figure 1.3 on next page) Using the provided amplifier mount as a template, mark the hole needed to make room for the t DA415 Digital Amplifier. • Butt the corner of the mount to the corner of the existing hole to make use of a common corner. • Trace the he inside edge to provide a guide to cut by. • Using a jigsaw cut thee area you traced traced. With the hole cut, tack the amp mount in place with tape or a partially fastened screw. Place the DA415 Digital Amplifier over the mount and, using six factory cabinet screws, scr fasten the amplifier to the mount and cabinet wall at once. (See Red Arrow in Figure 1.3 on next page) Converting the Main Enclosure (conti.) • • • Mount the provided power strip vertically next to the DA415 Digital Amplifier (See Green Arrow in Figure 1.3) Connect the power strip’s power cord to the “Service Outlet” port of the “Rock-ola Syber Sonic Power Supply”. Using the existing screws from the disassembly screw through the mounting board and mount theJCB Computer Assembly to the back wall in line with the Amp Mounting Board. When mounting the JCB computer into your cabinet you must allow 4” on the top for connections and 6” of clearance on the bottom to allow room for the hard drive to be installed. (See Yellow Arrow Figure 1.3) Figure 1.3 • • • Connect the AC Power cord to the Amplifier and then to the power strip. Plug AC line cord from the JCB Power supply to the power strip. Mount the external counter to a convenient location and connect to J7 of the squid cable Fan Assembly • • • • • • • • • • Find a place to mount the fan where the fan cord will reach the power strip. Locate the metal fan grill that was included in your kit. Hold the metal fan grill against the back of the cabinet, trace the outer circle and mark the 4 screw hole locations. Using a jigsaw or hole-saw cut the 4” hole that you just traced and drill out the 4 marked holes. Attach the fan guard with holes to the front of the fan using the 2 provided screws. Hold the fan grill on the back side of the cabinet and start your 4 screw. Place the fan on the inside of the cabinet over the 4” hole and continue screwing the fan tight to the cabinet. Attach the foam filter and other guard to the front of fan. Locate your fan cord and attach the terminal ends. Plug the fan cord into the fan and then into the power strip. Monitor/Graphic Assembly • • Install the new monitor surround graphic. Reinstall the retainer brackets on the lid there are 3, the one on the bottom and the two sides. (See Figure 1.4 for bracket placement.) Figure 1.4 Monitor/Graphic Assembly (conti.) • Attach the U-shaped bracket to the top and bottom of the monitor. (See Red Arrows in Figure 1.5) Figure 1.5 • Set the monitor into the bezel and attach it by installing 8 screws around the perimeter of the bezel. Figure 2.2 • Install the 2 provided Cat 5 cables, 1 from Zone 1 of the JCB Computer to the A port on the amp and 1 from the Zone 2 of the JCB Computer to the B port of the amp. Coin Acceptor • • • Connect the end of coin acceptor cable J3 to the end of the extension cable. The extention cable will have two black leads. These are the ground wires and can be connected to the coin switches common lug. The white wire is your quarter lead and should be connected to the normally open lug of the coin mech switch. In this application the green wire is not used and should be terminated. Bill Acceptor If you didn’t order a bill acceptor with your kit be sure you are using a 24v MDB bill acceptor. The original bill acceptor had a smaller bezel, thus the new bill acceptor won’t fit in the original hole. • • • Install the new bill acceptor by using longer mounting screws on the top mounting points. Then butt the nose of the bezel to the sheet metal front and secure the fasteners. No cutting should be required, and possibly only a few minor alterations. Connect J4 of the squid cable to the bill acceptor. Monitor: • • • • Connect VGA cable to the monitor and from the monitor to the JCB computer.
