Welcome Congratulations on your purchase of a TouchTunes Conversion Kit, an affordable and winning solution for bringing you the patron-pleasing power of digital downloaded music! Behind the scenes, you update the jukebox’s music content on line via TouchTunes’ web-based Operator Dashboard from your office, home, or anywhere—or any computer equipped with an internet connection—alleviating the time and expense that would otherwise be involved in making a service call to the location. About This Guide This guide is intended for Operators of TouchTunes digital jukeboxes and their technicians,TouchTunes technical support and field service personnel. It explains how to convert your jukebox into a TouchTunes Digital Jukebox using the TouchTunes Conversion Kit. Unpacking and Checking Conversion Kit Components Before you install the conversion kit, you must ensure that you have received all hardware components and that both hardware components and the items in the parts kit are in good condition. Operators have a 14 days period to report to TouchTunes any missing or damaged parts. After this 14 day periord any missing or damaged parts will become the responsabilty of the operator. This poicy is noted on the shipping box that your TochTunes Kit was delivered in. Contacting Touch Tunes Contacting TouchTunes Directly from the Operator Dashboard You can use the Contacts page in the TouchTunes Dashboard to email many departments at TouchTunes, including Technical Support. Using the Contacts page is the easiest way to contact TouchTunes and also allows TouchTunes to respond to your question, problem or request very quickly. Note: Long-distance telephone charges may apply if you are calling from outside of the toll-free area. Important Prerequisite Your TouchTunes Conversion Kit has been designed and provided as an economical solution for converting your previous jukebox into a full-fledged TouchTunes digital jukebox by integrating with many of your currently installed components. As such, the successful installation of your conversion kit requires that your current hardware be in good working condition. Before proceeding with installation of this kit, it is imperative that you verify that all currently installed electronic components are fully functional. You must also inspect the cabinet or enclosure to ensure that it has not sustained damage that would inhibit or prevent the installation of any equipment provided with the kit— either internally installed functional components, or externally applied aesthetic enhancements. Note: Installing a TouchTunes Conversion Kit does not fix a broken jukebox! Estimated Time to Complete the Installation The degree of complexity and time to complete the conversion may vary slightly from model to model, and may depend upon the installer’s experience and comfort level with working with electronic equipment and power tools. TouchTunes’ installation team has determined that a typical installation can usually be completed in 2 1/2 hours. Workflow The procedures described here, based on the experience of TouchTunes’ expert installation personnel, represent a logical sequence of events and best practices for accomplishing your conversion within the least time and with minimal difficulty. In general, the basic procedures are: 1. Removal of old components: Removal creates space for the installation of the new equipment and allows for a clean, compact, and clutter-free installation with easy access to all components. This section also describes the necessary components to leave in the jukebox. 2. Installation of new components: This procedure involves installation of all TouchTunes components in the jukebox enclosure, conversion of the current amplifier, and modification of the door (as required). 3. Testing and activation of the converted jukebox: This procedure allows you to verify the success of your installation. NOTE: These procedures are described in detail in the following subsections. Power supply TouchTunes JCB layout connection J1 Connection from squid cable Hard drive This is the control panel of your JCB Ethernet Connection The Power supply and JCB are mounted to a mounting board for ease of installation. The mounting board is perforated so it can be separated to ease installations by mounting the power supply away from the JCB, due to space constrictions in some kit models. Remove emove the chrome metal castings on each side for the glass replacement. Remove the top and bottom extruded cross bar to remove the overlay. (See Figure 1.2) NOTE:For Fire models remove bottom bar only and peel off the original graphic off and use the new .20 inch thick overlay Figure 1.2 Cleaning It is very important to clean your jukebox. Proper airflow is crucial to the maintenance of your TouchTunes Digital jukebox. Cleaning the inside of the cabinet, especially with alcohol, is important for proper adhesion of certain hardware; as well as easy location and iden identification of new and old wires.. Take time now to organize and dress all remaining ining wires, using the cabinet’s existing wire loops. The kit will be easiest to clean before installing any TouchTunes components. However, certain steps will allow you to reach different areas of the cabinet and door, so be sure to clean as you go. Front Door Reassembly • • • • • Install nstall the new stainless steel overlays on the top and bottom crossbar extrusions. Completely ompletely remove the old adhesives (a good citrus based adhesive remover works well), then wipe down the parts with alcohol before installation of the new stainless inserts. NOTE: Failure to follow these steps will result in an insert that comes loose. Insert your new “TouchTunes” header in place of the original al and reinstall the top crossbar. Reinstall the original rubber gaskets on the new front (this is an option, as we are no longer using glass) Insert the new front into the old glass channels. channels.(See Figure 1.3 on next page) NOTE: Picture shown below is with the optional dual bill acceptor front that can be ordered from www.TouchTunesKits.com Front Door Reassembly (conti.) Figure 1.3 • Reinstall the lower crossbar. (See Figure 1.4) Figure 1.4 • Install the stop plate on the upper, inner side of the lower crossbar using the five stop plate screws provided. Figure 3.4 Antenna RF module • • • • • • • • • • Fasten the antenna to inside or outside rear of the cabinet. (Installing Installing to the outside rear will provide the best possible reception for the RF Remote.) Connect the antenna using the extension cable from the ID box. It may be necessary to separate eparate the JCB from the power supply supply. Do this by breaking the mounting board boar on the perforation. (This This allows you to position it at another point in the jukebox where space allows.) allows. Mount theJCB Computer Assembly to the bottom right-hand corner of the back of the cabinet. When mounting the JCB computer into your cabinet you must allow 4” on the top for connections and 6” of clearance on the bottom to allow room for the hard drive to be installed Mount the power supply on the right side wall wall. NOTE:DO DO NOT mount it horizontally it must be vertical to allow air flow. Plug AC line cord into the JCB Power Supply and the other end into the power strip. strip The supplied PSU extension cable maybe needed. Connect the VGA cable too the monitor and the JCB. Connect onnect the J8 from the squid cable to the monitor. This is the DB9 connection that will control c the touch screen. Connect the J6 of the squid cable into the 12V DC monitor monitor-power input. Mount the External Counter to a convienent location and attach to J7 of the squid cable Installation of Switch Box The switchbox allows the jukebox lighting to be turned on and off with the jukebox. (See Figure 3.5) • • • • • • Locate the wiring going to the lamp ballasts in the top of the juke. (You should see either a 3 wire plug or just the wires.) Cut either the Grey or Brown thus making 2 connections. Note: The Green wire is the ground. Take 1st part of the cut wire and connect to the Blue wire in the switch box. Take the 2nd part and connect it to the yellow wire in the switch box. Connect the white plug from the switch box to the J10 connection of the squid cable harness.
